New Magincia house idea

So I'm staring at this 15x15 plot and trying to think how I can do it justice. Then it dawns on me that what would be cool is, in keeping with the spirit of the destruction and rebuilding, making the house look like it was built over top of an existing partially destroyed Magincian structure. I really specialize in building smaller homes, but I eventually come up with this as a start.

Kind of a house built on an old garrison or fort. Then I run around to see what themes other people have come up with. And I run into this one that appears to be built under the same principles as mine, except with a high degree of design mastery.

    That's by Journey on Pac.

So it struck me, that it might be something to promote. I'm not trying to tell anybody what kind of house to build and how to play the game, but I've seen some pretty ugly elven and log cabin houses and if anybody is looking for an idea for a unique theme for a house in this unique zone, I'd consider houses like the one by Journey as inspiration as a way to keep this zone looking cool.

    Nice job!

I am curious about what's so special about these Magincia homes. I am missing something. (no sarcasm)

As for what's special? Exclusivity in part. This was a town that was leveled and there are player houses there now. It's the only thing like that. But mostly it's the coming changes that sound like they might be driving more traffic and events towards New Magincia. In which case, there is some actual practical value. As a potential hub for shopping, it might serve as a good change of pace from Luna.....more running around and less volume, but much nicer scenery.

For me, I had nothing better to do with my gold than buy some tickets. If nothing comes of New Magincia, so be it, I will enjoy the quiet and all those NPCs milling about.

There are a few ugly ones on Trammel Europa, but for the most part even seems to be sticking to the same tile set, which I was pleasantly surprised by.

Haha No one on Tram Catskills used the same tile set.
Some people used multiple tile sets on the same house (lol)
I am gonna go check the Fel side and see if they've done better.

  7. o_O Thats my house, im really flattered you would use it as an example, it's a temporary design, just waiting to see what my neighbor does at E-2.

You have a great theme idea, its solid and logical. By the looks of it an excellent start, I cant wait to see it all decorated! :)

As a side note: Although I am a huge fan of all things sandstone, and completely sympathize with the idea you are presenting here I would hate to say that elves and gargoyles don't have a place in the rebuilding of New Magincia, in my geekdom I envision it as a port city influenced by all cultures, rebuilt by all manner of races. :)
