"on vendors" leads me to believe it's just vendors.

No, you can and will be able to trade any amount of gold through player-player transactions. Making the larger ticket items easier to buy and sell.

Whew, this is good. Not that I ever have anything worth 175M to sell or 175M to buy anything .... but if I ever do, this is great news :)

Kinda seems a superfluous restriction now that the bank limit has been removed.

Also I'm wondering if removing the limit on sales will push up prices for rares and eleets, now that you can easily do single transactions for more than 175M

I fail to see how a higher vendor limit forces anyone to spend more...

There were a few items I bought that hit 175 mill. I'm sure if the cap was unlimited I probably would have paid more. So I'm not 100% crazy about this idea. Maybe 95%.

Not "force" but "allow." I would think a lot of sales have stayed just below 175M so the sale could be done in one convenient action, rather than splitting it up or calling in a broker. But if I can now make a direct sale for more than 175M, that barrier is no longer there to keep it below 175 million just for convenience's sake. So I would expect bidding and sales prices to go up simply because it will be easier and more convenient to do so.

Your logic is sound, but unfortunately we are dealing with a market that has an interest in many factors. The main factor prices have gone down is that simple fact that they changed EM Events again (referring to the LS meet and greet) which allows more items to drop then requested. So if you have an item that was suppose to drop 20 but happens to drop 30 due to this change the supply went up and the demand went down thus lowering the price.

There will still be heavily sought after items but with this new system I doubt that many will be making their way into the 500m+ category.

Not a fan of removing the 175m cap. This will cause more price inflation in the long run

Maybe there could be something in place to prevent people from pricing things too high on vendors, which would cause inflation.

For example maybe raise the maximum price for a vendor item to 1 billion, however make it so every 200m the vendor costs on that item increase. So an item priced at 200m would cost 1% of the items value per day in vendor fees, but an item priced at 400m would cost 2% of the items value per day in vendor fees.

Using that system someone that has an item priced at 1 billion on their vendor would be paying 50m per day in vendor fees (5%). If someone really wants to lose 50m per day just to have an item priced at a billion on their vendor, let them. It's a good gold sink. If they would prefer not to throw away huge amounts of gold they will price their items more reasonably which would control the inflation.

Well vendor prices are still capped at 175 mill. But you (Yes you Norrington! :p ) have touched on another of my many pet peeves. On Atlantic vendor fees work. It's a large shard where you don't have to practically give stuff away to sell it. On every other shard (except I suppose Great Lakes) one gets about half or less of what things go for on Atlantic. Often they sit on vendors till someone shard jumping grabs up all the bargains and hauls them off to Atlantic for a tidy profit. Vendor fees kill the other smaller shards. Vendors go away and dry up cause the turn over is slow (even at a really low price) and one gets to the point of just refusing to give things away. You can't have a vendor just sucking 20K a day with little activity. Vendor fees kill all the shards except Atlantic and Great Lakes. People don't go to the less populated shards cause there's nothing they can buy (few people have the time to do everything by themselves) thus gravitate to the big 2. People don't have vendors cause there's no profit in it. It's a continual downward spiral. If they insist on having these shard killing vendor fees, everyone should get shard tokens. One for Atlantic and one for home.

Like is not strong enough for your post Capt., you said it well and very very accurately. This is exactly what is happening and has been happening since the rares, shard shield explosion in Sosaria.

Sounds right, I'd think the difference would be more like sellers getting 200M instead of 175M. Doubt if anyone has been losing 300M on a sale just for
    convenience's sake.

The post reminds me of recent threads discussing the effect of vendor fees on smaller shards, basically killing vendors because of the cost of waiting for somebody who happens to need it. As a result, on many shards, you pretty much have to shop in general chat.

I could care less about the price cap. They need to fix the item transfer bug that prevents items from even being placed on a vendy.
