New spell or skill... anti-gank shield

Discussion in 'UHall' started by imported_Sarphus, Mar 24, 2008.

  1. I was just thinking about how uo pvp has mostly reduces to many vs few fights. I think it would spice things up if there was some UO ability that allows you to reflect back damage done to you when multiple people gank you. Basically something that makes people hurt themself if they try to gank you.

It would also be interesting to have an ability to reduce dmg when you're on foot or an ability to reduce damage when you're being ganked.

My only concern is that my gut feeling is that abilities like this would probably be abuseable to make characters that are pretty much unkillable.

Perhaps abilities like this could have restrictions on them such as no potions and possibly no form of healing (berserker rage). So you enter some kind of berserker mode where you can't heal yourself (like you're mortal wounded) but you gain other abilities.

  2. I think you sir.... ARE CRAZY!

No really though, Anti Gank = Friends, and you fighting back.

Damage reduction try things such as healing yourself, evasion, parry, potions, confidence...... Running in general.

Damage dealt back to attackers? Try Counter Attack/Reflect Physical Damage/BloodOath!

Ohhh Emmm Gee, We already have everything you asked for?

We just need a Word of Nerf spell.

Vas Nox Nerf - 8th circle, 80 mana, and two full spellbooks required, consumed on casting; targets radius of 12 tiles around player. Every spell, action or activity is halved in potency.

Problems all solved, everyone can now thank me.

  4. Many vs Few, or gank if you want to call it like that, is not specific to UO but to all PvP games and... real wars!

If you want a fair fight, organize it. No skill nor spell won't make it happen.

If you're always "ganked", find a guild, form a team and fight back. You can't go solo in PvP and expect fair fights.

I would like to see more of an official "dueling system" which might include throwing down the proverbial gauntlet. If the challenged picks up the gauntlet, then both challenger and challenged are immune to damage/heals/cures/etc. from 3rd parties until the duel is over.

It will certainly not fix the ganks, but would make some duels more fair.

That would be very nice Tazar... I don't know if we are allowed to talk about some of the "player" run servers here on stratics... BUT.... I have seen a system like this in action.... People seem to like it.

Not immune to damage/heal/cures from 3rd parties, no. Just in case you didn't think about it more carefully, it would be a way to have invinsibility.
Just make that any damage/heal/cure/etc from third parties breaks the duel state.
Make it that when a character's HP fall to 0 it ends the duel and all HP go back to their previous state.
Duel would just prevent death (and loss of insurance) and murder count.

    But it's a different topic.
