Ok guys, I have been experimenting with stealing. I soulstoned to 50 and was experienceing low gains once I hit every 5th level. I'd increase the stone weight at every 5h level. For example, I have tried 7 stones at lvl 55, 8 stones at 65, 9 stones at 75 and etc. I find that increasing the load every 5th level gains optimum skill-ups.

The way I see it, and how the guides are on this forum, people have been doing this 1 stone up every 10 levels. 50 - 6 stones, 60 - 7 stones. I find this to be grinding and insufficient.

Doing this the standard way, you pick up a lot without even gaining. Doing it this way, you gain nearly every time you pick up, the success rate isn't bad either.

A good item to use at 45 is a bronze shield, up until 55.

    55 - chainmail coif

    65 - heater shield

Here is a link of an item chart for items sold by blacksmiths. You can pick out what you need to steal here by looking at the weight of the items in the chart.http://uo.stratics.com/content/basics/items_arms_armor.shtml

Try for yourself and please post here.

I always buy a few objects from the smith, usually 3 to 4 different stone items. only like, 1 item that seems beyond my limit i'll try to steal every once in while.

Then just steal them constantly. over and over again.

    until my fingers bleed.

In the book I wrote, "How To Train A Thief", I suggest using 5 stones from 50-57 Stealing, 6 stones from 58-67, 7 stones from 68-77, and so on. This is also the way my thief training room has been set up for years. But whichever method works for you, use it. If you aren't gaining enough at 55 with 5 stones, then try going to 6.

Also, I believe the typical suggestion I see is to divide your skill by 10, and use that amount of stones. So 50 would be 5 stones, 60 would be 6 stones, etc. Not sure if I've ever seen the suggestion of 6 stones at 50, 7 stones at 60, etc. Seems a little excessive, but hey whatever works for you.
