A greater wyrm sure seems like a good idea to me.

And it has the advantage of being extremely easy to implement in game.

Maybe the regular white wyrm in Ice has a one in twenty chance of spawning as a greater, or there are probably of places in Ilshenar where a spawn could be added.

I think one "greater" dragon is actually enough... by all means give WWs a bit of love, but not in the greater dragon meatshield fashion. One of those is quite enough lol.

I think after GDs and dreads, it would be good to see tamers using pets because they were cool and useful, not just because they were the latest overpowered "throw at spawn" toys. So yeah, give WWs a new special attack with say ice breath. A special freeze you to the spot attack. Basically upgrade the WWs we already have rather than creating a new spawn. I've got several WWs that are about 9 years old now, there's no way I'll throw them out for a new imposter :D Now if they were upgraded in a good way, they'd never be in the stables!

With the new sea expansion a sea creature tamable would be neat, but would need a stable by the sea or use pet balls to summon it in the water.

I think before any new pets are released, the existing ones should be boosted to give a reason to actually use them. Look at UOSA. There were many new tameables to play with but not many people are using them because the greater dragon is still better. There needs to be a reason to change pets.

A warrior changes weapons depending on the foe and so will mages and archers. A bard will change instruments. Right now, the greater dragon having high hit points and resists makes it favorable over the other tameables.

Personally, I think that there needs to be more options for tamers to choose a different pet. There's the damage spread for certain pets which make them favorable for certain situations as well as pack instincts to increase damage. Something new and unique needs to be added to some of the UOSA pets and older legacy pets so that they can compete against the greater dragon. Some people have suggested 'greater' versions of other dragons and steeds which may be a step in the right direction as long as it doesn't lead to monsters and bosses being bumped to compensate for a tanking pet (then the weaker pets would suffer and be worthless to use).

ok so we all are in agreement, we will make some new tamable greater dragons of each section

    void greater dragon
    fire greater dragon
    ice greater dragon
    water greater dragon
    chaos greater dragon
    etc etc

each dragon is comparably the same powerful as current greater dragons but have dif mods and damage types to suit them.
also each could have a different look (color)

Since white wyrms are evil (in the old UO.com description anyway they were dragons who had thier fire removed by the other dragons for their crimes), they should get some kind of boost to make them more evil. Necromancy?

Griffins or some kind of horse that is the rough equivalent of a lesser hiryu, or at the very least a faction warhorse, would be an excellent special mount for Paladins. As it currently stands, Samurai have a special mount (lesser hiryu), Necromaners have a special mount (that undead horse thing they can get from a nightmare corpse, and/or the grizzled mare).

A special Paladin mount has been long-asked for.

Could be as simple as spawning white-hued horses, and/or black-hued horses, with extra HP, in the wild, having them tame-able by tamers, but command-able and ride-able only by Tamers or Paladins, a la the lesser hiryus and Samurai.

A white wyrm is an excellent example of a creature that could, and probably should, be altered both for the sake of tamers and for the sake of new PvM-oriented content in the older dungeons. Honestly unless it fills some gap as is that I am not aware of (in which case feel free to inform me), then I don't see why they wouldn't just beef it up as is.

Give it good loot (relic fragment worthy loot), good fame, good gold spawn, give it an extra control slot or two, beef up its taming requirements, etc.

Again unless the critter as is fills some gap I am not aware of.

They have been meaning, they say, to improve existing dungeons for some time now. Beefing up the white wyrm and a few other tameables are a good way to start.

And, getting away from the point of the thread (sorry!) since we're starting in Ice Dungeon, I've always thought Ice Fiends should be harder, like balron level at the least. And that there should be a rat champ of some kind in that rat fort on level 2.....

As a pack tamer there has not been a new one slot tame ever.

The GD could come in those listed forms. Different elemental damage and resist base.

Bleh. If you're going to ask them to introduce new creatures to tame, please also keep in mind many of us can't stand the current size of the dragons. This is another area that Blizzard got right. In their game the tamed creatures shrink down in size so as to not dominate everyone else's screen. Shrink the dragons to the size of a horse and I don't care how many variations you add to it.

You can only tote one Greater around at a time so what difference does the color matter?

As long As the " balance" of pet slots stays the same who cares what the creature looks like. Add more tamable creatures please.

I think Galens on the right track....

My idea with a max limit of 2 spells on new riding mounts. Combining one mage spell and a spell related to the mount use.

Paladins should have a Clydesdale that have higher HP then a regular horse and hits with a lightning strike. It can also cast the chiv spell close wounds to heal itself

Necromancers have a new skeleton mount, with red eyes ,and higher HP then a horse, Hits with the spell fireball. Uses SS to heal itself.

Elfs should have a griffon ( to bad they dont have flying in the game) and higher HP then a horse. Its physical attack is combined the spell harm. Uses the spell Gift of renewal to heal itself.

A heavy war horse. Neater than the Faction horses.

Perhaps the elves should have more of a white horse... Or a very large Eagle?

As far as new one slot pets go I'd like to see perhaps a "Familiar" type pet... One that enhances you with say... Mana regen... or something depending on the creature, like a Familiar that gives stamina regen, or HP regen... Boosts meditation or focus is easily summoned or is a statue in your pack when it's not around or if it "dies" and has to "regen" as a statue before it can be used again.

I wanted to go with a warhorse but I thought a Clydesdale would be cooler lol. Maybe if they allowed armor on it I could accept a warhorse and gives a smithy and tailor a chance to make armor for it.

I do like the large eagle since the graphic of an eagle is in the game already.

To me the mounts with even small spells should be at least 2 slots since they would be more for dexxers.

Id like a new revamped 2 slot hell hound alpha with stats like:

    Hps 250-300
    Str 200-250
    Dex 100-150

    Phys 40-55
    Fire 80-90
    Cold 10-20
    Poison 40-55
    Energy 40-55

Basically a less resistant bake kitsune that could allow you to actually hunt many things with a pack (albeit smaller) of hell hounds.

Id still like some kind of pokemonesq breeding system, too but thats another post.

I always dreamed about that too. But that would require "genderizing" animals/pets. But I always thought that it would be pretty neat...

Though they did give us the chicken lizards.

I always thought it would be awesome to have a breeding system that would let you take any kind of animal and through time and effort make it into something badass. There was a big post about it probably over a year ago I made.

The day I can have a 5 slot 600 str/900 hp "War Walrus" is the day that UO is won for me.

It's not about objecting to the look. I'm objecting to creating yet more overpowered greater dragon type pets. The GD exists, let's do something different. Otherwise it won't help old pets at all - the old pets will be slung out of stables and replaced. Players won't use a variety of pet combinations if they can throw a different coloured GD at spawn. Why try to keep 2 pets alive in a spawn when you can just spam heals on a GD? Taming really will become "all kill, no skill" if it's dumbed down to that extent.

I would prefer if our existing pets got a boost, but not to the point where they all required 5 control slots and were like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. That isn't necessary. Despite what some GD fans believe, old pets are still very useable, a more modest improvement is more than enough.

I know one easy fix that would make a lot of unuseable pets much more viable, and that would be to confer resists to tamed pets for magic resist skill like it is for humans.

40 resists across the board would make alot of weak pets like bears and whatnot much more viable. I know people still wouldnt use bears or wolves, but it would be cool to at least have the option of animal pets that could take a hit or two.

I don't remember that description, but it makes sense given their D&D background--and since the Herald is pretty defunct right now I guess it's the best we have as far as an original source.

The T2A playguide (WWs were introduced with T2A) lists the three types of dragons as Dragon, Dragon (Elder Wyrm), and Dragon (Ice). But the interesting thing about the white, or "Ice Dungeon" dragon is that D&D lore has them changing colors as they grow older. By the time a white dragon reaches the "wyrm" state they should be peppered by blue and gray accents, which I guess would have been too complex back in 1998.

Since the Elders were given necro, I don't think the White Wyrms need necro. Mysticism, perhaps.

Now that would be neat. I'd like that. I really miss my WW. I would like them to get a bump. Perhaps they could be added in places like Ilshenar and Tokuno. There are snowy area's in both places.

Nah we dont need more added, but I would like to see more tamables for non tamers to ride. Maybe a winged horse that spawns white or black.

i think pets should gain some resists get a decent bump for the weaker ones for todays monsters or when they gain in resisting spells they gain in the resist like us players do also. 40's across the board. :thumbup1: White wyrms need some love cuz bakes are just as good if not better in resist. also you can have two out at once. Imps need to go back to a one slot tame to fix the pack tamers issue than we can have some fun with them.

When tamers get some love ill reactivate my accounts thats why they are inactive dev team cant give us any new toys to romp around with. :gee:

Very good point,Maybe new set of a odd monsters that destroys all Other monsters that are stronger then it due to the fact there hit points give it more power, and the only monster that can beat it is Lesser pets.

I miss bio-engineering pets in SWG. What we have is nice, but there are a handful of pets that are useful since many new pets antiquate old ones.

    *warning spoiler*

With this new pet broker system in the patch notes, I think further down the line it would be a great idea for them to look at making some of the less used pets more viable.

This is maybe a random idea, but it would be cool if thieves got some love too, I think it would be really fitting for thieves to be able to sneak into dungeons and steal dragon eggs. Maybe these eggs take a long time to hatch and you need to care for them a lot, but you got new hues as an incentive for tamers over regular pets? Maybe also take longer to bond as to not to nerf the traditional method of getting a pet.
