IDEA: Once an item has been fortified OR repaired it is no longer insurable. If it is currently insured it will not renew once that insurance pays off.

I think the vegas vacation solution would be appropriate in this case :)

Marty: You don't know when to quit, do ya Griswold?... Here's an idea: Why don't you give me half the money your were gonna to bet, then we'll go out back, I'll kick you in the nuts, and we'll call it a day!

Why? Because it's and idea. This is a forum. People bring ideas to forums to discuss them.

    Why ask why?

He was asking you to defend your idea and explain how it would benefit the game and the player's experience.

    Which is a reasonable request.

    No.

I still think that with the heavy reliance upon items in the game, item destruction and item loss should become a thing of the past. Especially with the number of bugs in the system as it is.

Everyone's items should go into a special ghost pack upon death, and reequip to last state upon resurrection.

This would, of course, address the "I PvP for the challenge, not the items" mantra that so many PKs use... and of course, start up the "But I want leet items!" argument once more. ;)

YES! Item insurance and POF should have never been instituted in the first place. Took every bit of risk from the game.

This would make it more challenging solo'ing those spawns and doing dangerous stuff! You may not get your precious items back. Would also be great for the crafters. People would always need new items to replace what they lost.

No insurance worked with pre AoS armor and combat really great. Now it would be just pain in the ass...

Only because its what people are used to. Its really not so bad. Especially with faction arties being so easy to get.

Not everyone wants to join factions and they shouldn't have to either.

I fail to see how this would help PvP. Leaving people gearless and having to leave fights because they have no gear seems like a way to get less people to pvp than to actually get more people to pvp...

Also, why is this even a problem? With Imbuing, you don't even need arties anymore to be competitive...

I don't think he's saying it would specifically help pvp or that its a problem. He was just stating an outlet for easy access items.

I for one would love to have an insurance free prodo server (I play Siege Perilous and love it) Its the main reason I left Chesapeake many years ago. Open pvp and free looting... Doesn't get better than that, IMO.

Something I have been wondering about for a while since I have seen people post about how there is no risk in the game?

Do all the posters lamenting about the loss of risk in the game run without insurance themselves, or is that too risky (outside of Siege I guess)?

Read above post. I play Siege Perilous. I do go without insurance and have for the last 5 years. All the while running suits equivalent to that of production shards.

Aye, I saw that. I was thinking more along the line of people on prodo shards. You have actually taken your opinions and done something about it. I am wondering how many others have also done the same (or haven't), and if not, why not?

It would be nice if all these players came to Siege! More people = more fun!! Also, all the posted wanting a classic shard. Why not play the closest thing you have to it currently? Instead they remain on their home shards :(

Those were among my thoughts too.

"I hate insurance, it ruined the game!!!!"
"you could move to siege, they have no insurance."
    "Hell no, I won't go!!!!!"

    or

"Insurance ruined the game because there is no risk anymore"
"Feel free to drop your insurance if you want risk"
    "But....errrrrr.....uhhhhhh....."

P.S. Freelsy, perhaps you could use some of your insider USAF secret hand signals with Cal to get a classic or a Prodo no insurance shard!!!

No thanks. I don't mind the game as it is now :) I still play and I'm still happy with it. If they want to add the new server. Cool. but for now, I'll just keep playing Siege. :)

If you dont like insurance, then dont use it.

I dont go to places in UO I dont like. I dont come here and complain about those places being put into the game.

Isn't siege Item based like the regular production shards?

The people that want a classic shard want the old "skill based" system back.

When people relied on their skills over their suits, GM crafted armor and weapons were the bees knees. It didn't make sense to insure these things since there were enough blacksmiths to be found. Plus it kept the craftsmen in business :)
