(NEWS) Lord Balandar found in Ilshenar

Discussion in 'UO Chesapeake' started by Lady Katherine, Jul 27, 2009.

  1. In a shock for those going to attend the weekly Commons meeting with EMs Vladimere and Dudley, the Commons house was in ruins with one of the King's Own Guards standing in front of it. Commander Foxx met with those assembled there and had a verbal altercation with the guard. After some arguing back and forth, Foxx chased the guard away from his post. Those who followed were then beset by executioners and dragoons lying in ambush.

After fighting off the ambush, Commander Foxx reviewed with the assembled warriors/detectives the clues they had found regarding Lord Balandar's location. Using the three clues of an indecipherable map, a map that showed the location of the Compassion shrine in Trammel, and a pair of sandy boots, the party guessed that Lord Balandar might be found in the desert past the Ancient Citadel near the Compassion Moongate in Ilshenar.

The party set out in that direction and encountered a boatman who ferried them across the water, where they found the wreckage of a boat. Some exploration soon found a camp near a coconut grove where Lord Balandar had set up camp. Lord Balandar asked some questions and answered some in return. He said that they will need to check with Kildare, the royal excavator, about moving the sand that is covering the artifact. He will stay behind to guard the location.

Lord Balandar was able to share some information about the artifact. It is a device that can control the oceans! He stressed that it can not be allowed to fall into the hands of the Shadowlords.

After leaving Lord Balandar, the party was able to reach a magical teleporter that led them near the Spirituality Moongate to return to Britain. They were ambushed again by the king's men at both moongates. After defeating both ambushes, Commander Foxx said that they must speak with Kildare this Wednesday night. Those interested in helping should meet at Buc's Den at 8 PM by the Eastern sky.

Wednesday night another visit to Balander was indeed necessary...finding Andrea Kildare, the Royal Surveyor, in hiding was first on the agenda. She is also fearful of her life and immediately handed us a post to give to Balander. The group knew this sealed letter was important to get back to him right away so to the desert we hurriedly made our way. Giving the password VVCS we sent face to face with Balander. With a stern look, he asked that we get our blasted pets out of his coconut grove, then he took the sealed letter out of my hands. Balander read and reread the post several times then told us of events to come. Excavation of the site to find this valuable artifact is to begin on Sunday, August 2nd most likely after the House of Commons meeting. This artifact is the same that the Shadowlords have been searching for and warriors will be needed to make sure as digging starts it does not fall into the wrong hands. Kildare wants only the most trusted and skilled warriors at the site, reading from the letter. Balander sent us off to find Ser Brightblade of the Duelist Edge. Now we had heard this name mentioned many times and many had sought to seek him out in his town of Trinsic (Felucca) but he always seemed to be out training his troops. This night we found him in the Paladin barracks of Trinsic. Asking how one goes about joining this elite group so that we have his approval to return to the dig site on Sunday, instructions were given. We must give to him a human head, a heart and a brain and then swear a blood oath. Now body parts are common in New Haven so our group marched on, slaughtering zombies. When the entire group had gained Ser Brightblade trust he told us to find the gate in Buc's Den (Felucca). Walking into the bright red orb which read PVP arena area, we did indeed find ourselves in a large arena where the Duelist Edge often met for practice. A duel was insisted upon by Ser Brightblade. Who would the challengers be? NANOC, Vran and Phoenix quickly volunteered. The rules were simple a duel to the death and carefully avoid the pitfalls which took you into another, yet smaller arena to continue battle. After eyeing up the opponents, each took their positions and blades began to swing, clanging on shields and armor. After what seems like hours, with sweat, blood and some tears NANOC was declared victorious. Ser Brightblade was most impressed with his skill. NANOC spoke for the group telling him we are all well trained and prepared to do battle to keep the treasured artifact from falling in the hands of the Shadowlords. Brightblade said he would send word to Balander telling him that we have his approval and that we were battle worthy......

What evil stands in our way of getting this artifact?
