While mining, I keep getting these gigantic niter deposits. They seem to hold tons of saltpeter. I don't have a ship anymore and therefore cannons. Is there a good reason to use up all my shovels and pickaxes on getting the saltpeter out of these things?

If you have any use for gold you can try selling your saltpeter.

Does saltpeter actually sell? What would be reasonable? (I noticed it is sold pretty cheap by the alchemist at the floating docks.)

People are lazy. Going to the docks to buy it, is time consuming.

I don't know so much that it's laziness. Some people just don't have much time in Britannia and would rather spend it doing something besides collecting resources. I remember back in the day that buying reagents on vendors was big business, as were potion kegs. I know I have to pick and choose what I spend my time doing. I simply can't do it all.
