No Server Reset

    I have been able to count at least three times in the last 7-10 days that the Legends Server has not reset. This is really messing up the growth cycles on all of my plants. How many more complaints need to be made before someone will look into and fix the issue?!

    I agree. Crap like this is just stupid. For 17 years servers reset every morning, now all of a sudden no one can figure out how to make that happen?

    Broadsword, you're really coming across as amateurish.

    The communication on the developers part of this problem has been non-existent! I mean, this has happened several times over the course of a few weeks. There's no official word on why this is happening or when it's going to be fixed...if ever.
    Please, if any developer is reading this, at least post that you know there is a problem. At this point, I'll even settle for that.

    We have one artist...part time, yet we have a Network Operations TEAM? Or do you mean the artist, you, and the office janitor have just put on Network Operations hats for a bit?

    Onifrk is a full time artist. The network ops team handles operations for not just UO, it's for the entire studio and all of our products.

    You can't win no matter what you do..

    On that note is it too daunting of a task to code in a 24 hour timer on time sensitive things like keys,plants, and things of that nature or is server restart/save involved in resetting the timers? I would assume as much..but you know what assuming gets you

    It's not a particularly daunting task, but there is a resource tradeoff with doing anything with timers, especially on something like plants which tend to be concentrated in small areas with high numbers. It's something I'd have to discuss with engineering.

    I can understand this happening once. But this is the 3rd or 4th time in less than two weeks on Legends. It's really getting old. I really see no excuse for this at this point.

    What I don't understand is why when the lights come on everywhere they don't do a reset an 10 AM or something when everyone wakes up. A server reset can't be that big a deal. To me it says EA really has little interest in UO and it's falling off the radar.

    Makes up for loss of plant growth and rolls the game time forward 4 days.

    I think they need to worry and get it right. No need for a bunch more $10 brit ships to fast decay. More then a few weeds who's fate is decided by the refresh.

    The server maintenance process is not manual. It's part of the automated backup system that saves the shard state. The issue is being investigated.

    I think a server reset IS a big deal because not only does it have to save each shard but has to make sure it comes back up the same way...like doing a project online or in Office...typing up a resume and making sure you hit save before shutting down...doing a project in Photoshop..idk just seems like there's more to it then ya'll think because it has to keep track of every ONE and every THING on EACH shard and save it and make sure it comes back the exact same way..computers are finicky...thanks for the update Kyronix! :)

    I'm not a rocket computer scientist dude or anything, but I think maybe they should investigate the automated backup system. If you wanted me to do it that would take investigation. But these guys like do this every day for a living. I'd think they could do more fixing and less investigating.

    Kyronix, should we be concerned about the possibility of a multi-day or multi-week revert on any of the shards that have missed maintenance periods if any of those shards have a bad crash and there have been problems with the automated backup system?

    This getting annoying. I've now lost 3 days on my growing plants, and TODAY I had a chunk of time set aside to pull resources off as they were on their last day as of yesterday.

    An investigation of "why is the backup system FUBARed?" shouldn't take this long. (5+ days)

    I have an email from Mesanna they would fix it. That was on 1-22-15. So that's been at least 11 days on "looking into it". It had been happening before that but I thought it was because I had moved stuff around that threw it off. Now I realize that wasn't the case. I've moved plants since then and they continued to grow the next day, when there was a reset.
