    Nox/LP Mage still viable?

I JUST started my account back up and was hoping to hop on and play, buuuuuuuut apparently my last few days playing I was drunk or something and all my skills are ALL over the place on my characters.

From what I can, the closest ready to play was my old nox/LP mage. I just gotta grab a couple skills from my other guys and this is it:

    110 magery
    110 eval
    80 med
    100 resist
    110 swords
    90 poisoning
    120 chiv

The idea behind this guy was not to be a duelist, but survivability. IIRC chiv was pretty gay back then for whatever reason I just remember being able to live through a lot.

My med at 80 is questionable? Is this acceptable now?

What is the formula to hit with LP on my special move?

The nox/mage has declined in popularity over the past few years. Potions have made poisoning more or less obsolete. If poisoning is included on a PvP template, it is usually viewed as a Plan B, for the rare occasion when you see someone holding something in both hands (hence, unable to use pots).

If you really enjoy playing this template, I'm sure you can make it work. However, I'd guess that a standard wrestle/scribe/mage or necro/mage would outdo the nox/mage template.

That said, if you want to use your above-listed template, I'd make the following suggestions:

    1) 120 melee is a non-negotiable, PvM or PvP
    2) Bring resist to 120 or drop it altogether and carry pots/trap boxes
    3) Unless you really, really love holy light, I'd suggest dropping your chivalry: to 55, for a primarily PvP toon; to 75, for a primarily PvM toon

    Otherwise, looks good.

If you were to go with something other than poisoning you should do yourself a favor and go to 120 wrestling. It doesn't seem like much but you cant be disarmed and you will actually be able to disarm. As it stands if you don't have the sword equipped you lose your skill based dci so you will get hit a lot more. You also can't use specials other than infect on your current template because of no tactics so on a mage without anat and tactics or poison a weapon skill has little advantage over plain old wrestling. You just won't swing fast enough to use it often.

don't forget that you can't "prep" your special weapon skills anymore while casting a spell. meaning the second you begin casting, your spec hit will automatically turn off.

As of now, the nox mage is inferior. Until they add the immunities, that template may be revived so defiantly keep that temp set up written down for when it becomes effective again. Good luck buddy.

Hell yea keep it! Ive always considered nox mage to be with a fencer but you've just reminded me (especially with imbuing) how easy it would be to make your temps Perfect weapon!

    Cleavers!!! vs mages

Or even Skinning knifes(they disarm right??) vs dexxers

I used to love playing my nox mage and still used one even within an abundance of pot chuggers. It's not as effective as say, a straight necro mage, but carrying a few poison potions will eat through people anyone who doesn't carry 100 cure potions on them.

The issue with many pot chuggers it that they become so reliant on their potions, and once you get the LP on them and they can't chug you can pretty much spell-lock them until they die.

It's still a viable template, but you need to know something about your opponents as well.

whoever said the nox mage/dexxer is dead needs to rethink their PvP abilities.

Chaos, i myself couldn't have said it any better.

    qft.

I ran a search on the page, but I did not find any mention of nox/mage being "dead." I said that it had declined in popularity recently. You are welcome to argue that it is still viable - I specifically said that the OP could make it work, so we have no disagreement. If, on the other hand, you disagree that this template's popularity has declined lately in lieu of the necro/mage (which is what I said), you need to visit the PvP scene.
