NPC reagent vendors system needs to be updated

Discussion in 'UHall' started by Dreadlord Galaad, Jul 21, 2008.

  1. NPC reagent vendors system is outdated since most of the players use lower reagent cost items.
The current system works like this :
-When a npc sells his stock of reagents:
-After a delay of 30 min, his stock is double but
-His stock is divided by 2 if the npc doesnt sell his reagent 30 min after the npc get restocked.

The only solution for a legit player is to be able to spend a whole day to get enough reagents for a few weeks which is totally ridiculous!
The other solution which is to unattended macroing a whole day to get the reagents.
The last solution that used to work for a long time is to buy reagents from bulk vendor but since ea banned tons of the macroer its now barely possible to find some.
These solutions are not suitable and it shows that the current system need to be updated .

Maybe they could make them like the resources that are sold by 500.

You're exaggerating some... but yes - reagent vendors should have more in stock.

I would like to see this too. I don't see why reagents shouldn't spawn at 999 qty. I'd like to see the timer removed too, unless someone can explain a major drawback that I am not seeing by removing the timer.

Most people don't use reagents these days thanks to LRC suits. So a lot of people aren't buying from those NPCs and pushing up the stocks. Two-edged sword... well, actually, those with LRC suits get the good edge while those without get the bad edge!

As do alchemists/scribes. Unless they've changed things you still need reagents to make potions and scrolls. Frustrating when you're trying to work one of those skills up and have to to hit every vendor from one side of the world to the next just to get enough to gain .5.

  7. I'd suggest you start checking the different towns in Fel for faction vendors. You can load up on thousands of regs in minutes with them.

    20 -> 40 -> 80 -> 160 -> 320 -> 640 -> 999
    0 + 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 3 hours

So it does not take all day. Plus in each 30 minute interval you are purchasing from multiple vendors and that takes time. If anything is done, perhaps change the restock interval to 20 minutes.

Have to agree with JC, just purchased 30k + in nightshade last week on a nearly dead shard by visiting multiple NPC vendors in Tram, Fel and Malas until they were up to the Max. Didn't really take all that long. On some of the more populated shards you might hit a couple vendors that already have their numbers up pretty high.

The last time I needed a ton of reagents I just marked runes for all the mage shops and fel factions vendors and hit them one after another after 7 or 8 hours I had enough to trade in for the mage spectacles. I still have 30k plus of each reagent left over from that. All it takes is one day out of your time, if you are lucky you can get them at a discount at the Fel Faction NPC's.

I really rather not see them change the reagent vendors to the way they are for Arrows and bolts at Gypsy camps where they go up and up in price but you can start buying 999 at a time.

I agree something needs to be done about the npc reagent vendors. And IMO that something is the stock level needs to be increased. When I go to do a marathon recall making session to stock my vendor (if not for the last minute, nothing would get done when it comes to me.), I don't think I should have to run to 6 different cities to scrape up enough regs for 1k scrolls. I can't figure why they can't stock 500 or even 999 at a time from server up to server down.

Maybe I was slow, but I tried stocking up on my regs for some potion making, and it was taking so long to go around and try to rebuild the vendors to a high reg count. Then, by the time I recalled from my "mage shop" runebook and kept doing it... some vendors actually decreased stock on me! ugg. I'm slooowww. I don't have 3 hours to waste like this.

I agree with this idea. I don't have the major amount of time needed to run around, shoppe to shoppe, to collect enough for my inscriber and alchy.
I don't want the game to be too damned easy, but a change like this would, in my opinion, be good.

maybe you would prefer the bank just sell them in lots of 10k each and deposit the commodity deeds right in your bank box for you?

    Agree.

Reagents should be restocked at all vendors at all time with 999... not everyone have 3-4 hours to stand there to purchase reagents up to 999 on every vendors.

This is just forcing people to play the game and not enjoying the game.

With LRC suits, I don't see a reason to keep reagents at 20pcs each for all the vendors.. it is not rare anymore like before when 100% of the mages needed to use it..

Now I see only about max of 20-30% of the mages still using non LRC suits

  17. As it seems that people are rather agree with the need of an update.
Why not trying to make an action such as a petition :)bowdown:)to ask the devs to do something? I think the best would be to find other outdated things that can be updated without "risk". ;)

    totally disagree.

this is a normal feature of economy and part of the fun and competition, like buying all stuff before anybody else can do it. i have a runebook to all the mage shops, having two herbalists. easy to get tons of stuff. you can cycle around, rinse, repeat.
yeah, i remember that i was picking reags of the ground in cases of emergency. we should be glad that the vendors restock within 30 minutes and offer the double amount. ever tried that in your local rl smartymart ?

you can make a ton of money buying stuff in bulks and selling it elsewhere in bulks. there again the intelligent economy feature strikes: the buying-prices of the vendor drop after too many deals with the same stuff. this is all good and should all remain as it is.

and most important - i can tell you at least one big abuse of a change like you requested, giving advantage to - guess who ? scripters !!

  19. Lets see the different possibilities that makes you disagree:
-You take advantage of the current system.
-You want to be disagree because you want that people get interested by yourself.
-Another explanation would be that you are trying to make a hidden troll expecting to see some negative answers.

How can you take advantage of it:
-Your gaming experience and enjoyment is based on clicking hundred times on a spell book, buying all the regs in every shops before someone else can buy them. Then you resell them at higher price to make even more money to buy even more regs and so on.
-You don't want to tell it, but you are one of the last scripters that takes advantage of it.
    Conclusion:
Either your mental health is to be discussed either you are lying because you are just a scripter.

    That doesn't make sense.

The current system favours scriptors greatly, as they can just set up bots to go around at timed intervals and build up huge amounts of regs over lengthy periods of time, where as most humans wont be able to keep it going for much longer than a few hours (even that is a push, and not everyone will want to do it)

If the system was to change to allow larger amounts of regs to be sold earlier on, say each reg starts at 80 with the restock intervals reduced a bit, then real human beings would be more likely to get what they need alot easier and scriptors would remain unaffected.

That being said, i don't think scriptors even bother with this type of thing do they? Much more profitable stuff out there they can be doing with thier time such as mining etc.

Overall, im not sure I agree with some peoples opinions here that buying regs should be "challenging". Why should it be a laborious, time consuming, point-and-click fest, to get something that is sold by NPCs?

Then again, it is an old system and allows for people who have the desire, to gather resources and sell for profit do so, so maybe it would be best left alone...

I think a slight tweak is maybe in order here, not a complete overhaul mind you.
