That's an old picture and the horse is now fully trained. Note the high strength, the horse is good in every other way, but that is what makes it special. That is incredibly rare.

The bidding starts at 200 mil, there is a reserve that will not be disclosed and if it is not met there will be no sale. The auction closes at the end of the day (12:00 midnight EST) on Sunday, June 12. The horse is currently on Atlantic, and I will want the gold to be divided between Cats and Atl, but we can work out those details if the reserve price is met and there is a winner. Good luck.

I've had a few people that I have shared the reserve price with give me the, "You're nuts!" line. I just want to point out that I don't know of a dread warhorse that is this good that has been sold in the past year, I'm not saying there hasn't been, but I certainly haven't heard of it, and there certainly isn't one this good for sale right now, and I doubt there will be any time soon. Dread warhorses this good simply aren't being sold right now.

I'm not going to sell this horse unless selling it increases the value of my account, I am also perfectly fine with not selling it. But if someone is willing to give me what I think this horse is worth, I'm open to selling it. Remember, there have been normal blaze cu sidhe (not prepatch curse tamed) that have sold for more than 1 billion gp, and they still spawn. There may be a lot of dread warhorses in the game, but they don't spawn anymore, and there are very few dread warhorses that are as good as this one, and they are only going to get harder and harder to find.

For those who are interested this horse rates a 4 on the pet power calculator, but it's high hits and strength makes it a pvp specialist, and if I were to rate it for pvp specifically, I would rate it higher than a 4.

So which is it? Are you going to disclose the reserve price or not? Looks like you have already disclosed it to a select few so why not share it with everyone?

I disclosed it to a few members of my alliance. It's one of the privileges of being in my alliance.

Not worth 200m in my opinion, and with the shadiness of the whole "reserve fiasco" I would warn those bidding to be careful.

Why don't you just tell people what you want for it...I fail to se the point of setting a secret alliance only reserve but stating bidding at a whopping 200m for a 631hp dread...which btw I have and I have seen better dreads. Am I missing something here?

First off, I have a reputation for honesty. I am well known. I don't know what "reserve fiasco" you are referring to, but I can assure you that there is nothing shady going on here.

As for what you are missing, you are missing the strength, which effects how much damage your warhorse does, and in this case is only 3 below the max. I farmed this horse myself, and I know how hard it was to find a horse like this one with good hit points, good resists, good intelligence and amazing strength. I can guarantee you that this is one of the best dread warhorses for pvp in the game.

If you aren't interested, that's fine. No one is forcing you to bid on it. But I will ask you not to post to this thread and slander my reputation. I am well known as a knowledgeable tamer, and an honest player. If I tell you that this is one of the best dread warhorses in the game, I can assure you that I am telling the truth.

Are there some out there that are better? I'm sure there are. But there aren't many, and I haven't seen any of them for sale since I returned to the game a year ago.

Well I for one have sold 2 dreads past few months better than that.. I fail to see how that one is amazing.. and at 200m I'd be happy w/ that price.. In the end just my opinion.. Your welcome to do what you will w/ it.. But I do still have a Dread that would put that thing to shame.. granted not forsale but its the only one I kept

I hope you realize that people who use dreads do not use them for their melee damage...which str would play a factor in. In fact I very rarely see a dread doing melee damage. It is mostly magery and firebreath that people use them for. So to charge an astronomical price for something that really is not a major factor is rather silly. I have a dread with perfect poison resist, I should sell it for 200+m right? I am not trying to be rude but I am rather trying to help educate you about this before you go forth claiming "one of the best dread warhorses in the game"...

thing is too that dreads are a dime a dozen on atlantic, but hey if you can get more than 100 mil for a dread with less than 640 hps, go for it :)

Think all these posts lead to only one outcome. Refereeing by dread duels :) This way, all of us newbies will discover who is actually right and which are the best mares in the game.
So let's organize a Mare Tournament, possibly on Atlantic and maybe some rich people could donate some prizes. Rules should be quite simple, Occlo Arena, no treats, no owner bless.... just pure mare fight. I can almost imagine some lovely mare ladies cheerleading for the crowd. Heh.

I've been gone from the game for a couple yrs so time to show my ignorance because I want one of these horsies. I think. Well, I want a Dread Mare.

What is the difference between a Dread Mare and a Dread Warhorse? Or, are they the same thing? if not, do you have to be a tamer to bond/ride a Dread warhorse?

Factions use warhorses & non-faction use mares, right?

A "dread mare" is what pvp'rs who don't know any better call a "dread warhorse". There is actually no such thing as a dread mare.

My point exactly. And I doubt very much that it would put this one I'm selling "to shame". For anyone who actually knows something about fighting with pets in pvp, this dread warhorse is easily in the top 99% of those in game. And I'll take 20 points in str over 10 hp any day...

You are showing your ignorance...I will post one of my dreads when I return home today. Your dread is not worth 200m, stregnth is a foolish stat to worship on a dread war horse.

Thx for some clarification. :) Couple more questions...

Do you have to be in factions to ride a Dread Warhorse?
Do you have to be a tamer to ride/bond a Dread Warhorse?

You don't need to be in factions to ride a dread warhorse, but you do need appr 110/110 taming/animal lore to bond and control one.

Often have I agreed with your posts Llewen. You are one of those who actually promote tamers in PvP, which I applaud.
But the way you are behaving in this thread I find really... REALLY arrogant.

First of all, it is presumptuous to even think that this mare is among the best in this game. Of course you have lored every single Dread Warhorse out there and of course there are no people left who have hidden their Dread Warhorse in the stables.

Then second, is strength really the best stat for PvP? I highly doubt that.
How often can you actually trap a player, so it will take melee damage from you pets. I have yet to see a player waiting to get hit by a Dread Warhorse and another thing I have yet to see is a Dread Warhorse keeping up with a dismounted player.

I have owned many Dread Warhorses and yes, the one you own might be among the better ones, but I will take my 641hp, 151 Int and 523 Str Warhorse over yours any day in a PvP fight.

And don't start telling about how yours would own mine in a Horse to Horse fight cause I doubt you are trying to sell this beast just to fight other Dread Warhorses.

First off, I have been pvp'ng with pets for almost five years now total. I was the first player to pvp with a dread warhorse on my shard, Catskills, and probably one of the first in the entire game to do so. I am well known as a tamer on my home shard, Catskills. I am well known on the taming forum.

I know what I am talking about when it comes to pets, and I know what I'm talking about when it comes to pvp'ing with pets. The average pvp'r doesn't. The average pvp'r will key in on one thing that they think is important, such as hit points, and nevermind everything else. I look at everything when I look at a pet, and I also know which stats are important situationally.

Pets "close" with players in pvp far more often than you think, and strength is important. That is another reason why keeping your pets fully trained is also extremely important, because skills are the single most important factor in how well your pet will perform, in any context, including pvp.

And the other thing that is important in pvp is the understanding that you will be pvp'ing against the pets of other tamers as well, and you had better know how to handle that situation, or you will end up with a dead pet, and a significant number of your template's skill points neutralized. Most pvp'rs also don't understand how important it is to keep your pet healed.

As for whether this dread warhorse is one of the best in the game. I farmed hundreds of them when they were available in the game to find this one, and I have lored hundreds since, and I know how good this warhorse is. If you can't see that, or if you disagree with me, that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion, and if you state your opinions I will attempt to show you why I think you are wrong.

As for being "arrogant". Unfortunately if you are trying to sell something, especially something that is less well understood, which good quality pets generally are in this game, you have to get people to realize that you know what you are talking about. If that comes across as "arrogant", my apologies. Maybe I need to work on my delivery.

But I will say one thing. Yes I know what I am talking about when it comes to pets and pvp, anyone who knows me in game will tell you that, including my enemies, if they are being honest. Does that make me a better person than anyone else? Of course not. This is a game, I'm not saving anyone's life, or making any grand social contributions here, it just happens to be a hobby I enjoy, and the part about it that I enjoy the most, and happen to know the most about, is taming, and pvp'ing with pets.

The last issue here in this thread is my own personal fan club - a dedicated cadre of trolls who troll just about every thread I post to, especially if it is a thread I have started. My vigorous defence and support of tamers in pvp, and my campaign against the culture of cheating which exists in UO has earned me some enemies. A number of those have posted to this thread, which is to be expected. If I sound "arrogant" when I respond to them, that is a reflection of my opinion of them and their continual personal attacks against me, and their often ludicrous attempts to spread misinformation with regard to the two issues I care most about in this game.

No offence, but I think the dread I'm trying to sell here is better than all of those, including the 648. And while the pet power calculator isn't the end all and be all, I expect it would agree with my statement in this case, even if you enter them all as fully trained.

Did I read this wrong? U take into consideration that you will pvp with your pet versus another persons pet? I am sorry but if you put a dread warhorse on any other pvp pet that is widely used (Dread, Cu, Dragon, Beetle)......if you fight ur pet vs those during a fight...you obviously are ate up entirely with ignorance. Dreads have their purpose in pvp...but it is not to fight other peoples pets...

Do you want me to post what a true "one of the best" dread warhorses look like? Because yours doesnt come close to being a 200m dread...not to mention that 200m is below your reserve...wow...

This is "one of the best dread warhorses in the game" Llewen. Yours is very nice, but honestly HP are the biggest factor for most anyone buying a Dread...you are entitled to your opinion...however if you opinion does not match the market you are trying to sell to...then you run into a very huge problem.

I agree, that dread is better than the one I am selling. I also doubt that anyone is going to be able to buy it from you any time soon. It also doesn't mean that my dread is not one of the best in the game as I certainly never claimed it was THE best. That's an exceptional dread, clearly one of the best in the game, and mine isn't all that far behind it.

As for hit points being the most important stat in how effective a dread warhorse will be in pvp. The single most important factor in how effective any pet will be is how skilled and experienced the pvp tamer is. The second most important factor is the pet's "burst damage" and the factors that effect how high a dread's "burst damage" will be are training first, followed by hit points, followed by strength. However, it is a lot harder to find a high strength pet than it is to find a high hit point pet, and that is true of any pet, and I will take 20 points in strength over 10 hit points any day, even in pets with fire breath.

As for my opinion not matching the market. At the risk of sounding arrogant again, I easily know more about taming, pets and pvp'ing with pets than 99% of the regular pvp'rs in the game, so when it comes to assessing pets and how effective they are, I'll keep my own counsel, and happily explain why I think the way I do to anyone who cares to listen.

As for your terrific dread, you're welcome to try and sell it any time you wish, I would just ask that you kindly start your own thread to do that.

You do not know more about taming, pets, nor pvp with pets over 99% of the regular pvpers in the game. You have proven it throughout this entire thread. And no, your dread is not "one of the best in game" it is definately above average but it is below "elite status" in my opinion as well as many others who have expressed their thoughts as well. I suggest you accept reality and take into account what we have tried to tell you. :) GL on the sell and you may get lucky...but IMO you are being unrealistic here. G'day :grouphug:

My reputation stands for itself. I can assure you of that. As for the rest of what you have said, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'm not likely to come to you for advice on anything to do with pets, taming, or pvp'ing with pets. We'll just leave it at that. Yes you do have a very nice dread, I will certainly grant you that.
