    Planet: Ord Mantell
    Affiliation: Galactic Republic
    System: Bright Jewel System
    Climate: Temperate
    Days per year: 334
    Hours per day: 26
    Moons: 15

The mid rim world of Ord Mantell is located in the Bright Jewel System. The terrain of the planet is mostly composed of mountains and islands littered around the surface. Volcanic activity is also dotted around the islands, where the mountains are chained along for as far as the eye can see.

The planet itself was originally colonised by Corellian settlers in 1200 BBY as part of the Galactic Republics ongoing expansion. There they built and kept an ordinance/regional depot, hence the prefix of Ord before the planets name. At the time, the planet served as a strategic location for the military but over time, its purpose and nature began to diminish as new hyperspace lanes and routes became available. However, as the planet became less and less important, it would still became a stop off for weary travellers going to and fro in the galaxy.

When the cold war got under way in 3,653 BBY, a military Admiral who had become corrupt sold of the fleet that was stationed at Ord Mantell. This lead to dire consequences as the military began to leave the planet until eventually there was none left. The rules and law that the military had once upheld was turned into chaos rendering the planet a lawless outback for rogues, pirates and Bounty Hunters.

Once the ceasefire, the Treaty of Coruscant was signed at Alderaan, those who were governing over Ord Mantell deliberated and came to the decision that it would be in their best interests, if they remained loyal to the Galactic Republic. However, the ruling body was very corrupt and although some on Ord Mantell liked this decision, there was a minority that didn’t agree. This sparked a separatist movement leading to an all out civil war against the two rival parties.

The outbreak of fighting convinced the Ord Mantell Government to station more troops and squads from the Galactic republic. The constant fighting led an unstable environment, decreasing the stability of those who lived there. The up risers began a series of hit and run tactics against the government to try and win their independence.

After many years of those fighting for freedom, they managed to weaken the planets government but the local crime syndicates stepped in and supported them. This eventually gave way to black market trading to commence on the world with technology being supplied from Nar Shadaa ‘the smugglers moon’. With out a doubt, the war on Ord Mantell is far from over as the balance of power is constantly shifted, the continuing attacks will either destroy the government and give the separatists their freedom or the government will succeed in quelling the usurpers to their power and regain complete control.
