So I finally (with the help from great posts here) figured out how to fight Miasma and deal with Lab spawn. Killed her about 10-15 times having fun despite getting nothing for loot, when paragon chest drops. Awesome. Except, I have no lockpick on any char. So, can I sell this thing? Is it worth it to raise lockpicking on a char?

one mans trash is anothers treasure..

ive found miasmas loot to be excellent for my purposes

2k+ gp per kill adds up
possibility of chests- i have them picked and put them in my house for storage
    possibility of elemental damage weapons
possibility of imbuable jewelry (FCR3, FC1, DCI 13-15, etc)
possibility of high intensity items which unravel to relics (rare)
low to high intensity items to unravel for skill gain - my imbuer just hit GM imbuing and ive never actively trained it, all from miasma unraveling

Yes, I worded that poorly. I didn't mean to complain about loot. I'm sure I'll get better stuff the more times I kill her (really could use some FCR3 or DCI jewelry), and the 2k per kill is nice.
You said you have chests picked, do you have a char w/lockpick? Do you have somebody else do it? If someone else, do you pay them? How much?

friend did it. just ask your alliance chat or general server chat. make sure to open chests w/telekenesis, the explosions on them can kill ya (100+ dmg to one character)

  5. You can view their contents without opening chests by putting them on a vendor and decide for yourself if it's worth training up lockpicking.

The loot isn't bad, especially if you collect items to unravel or have a use for the treasure maps, but I wouldn't say this alone is worth lockpicking. On the other hand, if you were making a treasure hunter anyway, the paragon chests are a nice bonus.

  6. I *heard somewhere* that you can, after checking if theres anything worthwile with a vendor, use the new item insurance menu to insure something inside the chest then die/get res'd to get it out.

Idk if this works or not.

Great info, thx all. I hope I don't get desperate enough to try the death thing, but will let all know if I do and it works. Thanks again.

I've stoned off Parry and put lockpicking on my sampire for this very reason...

I got tired of hauling the chests back and forth and taking up storage. In light of the upcoming changes to Treasure Maps I wanted to have a good supply of Ingenious Maps in case there is some hearty reward or bounty.

The reason I'm able to do this and get away with having lockpicking instead of Parry,Anatomy, Or Magic Resistance is because of my weapon.

Get yourself an Elemental Fire Weapon with Scorpion Slayer on it and you'll be close maximum damage. I don't honor or EoO Miasma because I get no damage bonus from it.

Any weapon in the range of 70-100% Fire Damage with Scorpion Slayer should work extremely well.

I'm currently using a Daisho with 80% Fire on it. Miasma drops so fast I decided against putting Mana Leech on it which is considered a cardinal sin for sampires.:thumbup1:

I'm not running an optomized template/suit yet but I use

    Double Axe (Double strike/Whirlwind)
    30 SSI
    45 DI
    55 HML
    44 HSL
50 Hit Area Cold (this is my general purpose whirlwind weapon)
Elemental damage: 40 fire, 40 poison, 20 cold

    Refresh EOO if needed.
    Honor pull macro
Back out of her lair and pop consecrate and Double Strike
    She gets hit for 70-115 * 2
Lightning strike - 70+ dmg, possible 150 crit
Lightning strike - 70+ dmg, possible 150 crit
    DS
    LS
    LS
Pop Consecrate again, repeat DS/LS/LS/DS/LS/LS til dead

If any minos get on me switch to momentum strike or whirlwind. Have tanked/killed 2-4 minos and miasma at same time.

If a reptalon comes, I disengage, not fighting a rept and miasma at same time.

Since miasma spawns with such a wide hp range (300-2000) she can take anywhere from 10 sec to 25-30 sec.

My hp bar hardly drops. My mana and stamina hardly drop as well.

Only if I miss EOO or Consecrate does anything drop. No chance of death, can pretty much afk kill her, I just like seeing the big hits.

I have a really nice elemental ornate I use but the double strike does more dmg I think than crushing blow.

No Scorpion Slayer on that double Axe? Poison is Miasma's highest Resistance so that's the last thing you want on a weapon that your using on Miasma and you have a whopping 40%!!

I'm sure it's working for you but it's by no means optimal.

I don't spam or buff anything. Occasionally I'll use a feint or a Doublestrike but for the most part I just stand my ground hoping a chest drops and I pick the lock on the spot.

I bring specific weapons to deal with the Minotaurs and the Reptalons. Fire Damage Repond Slayer for Minotaurs and a Cold Damage Reptile Slayer for the Reptalons.

One click of an icon button on the hotbar and I have a new weapon and Talisman on my paperdoll.

One consecrate weapon will fix the poison damage. My ornate is 80 poison and after consecrate I hit for 185 max.

I don't see why you all are making killing miasmas harder than it is. Honor, EOO, Consecrate weapon and you'll kill the lighter ones in less than 5 hits. The tougher ones will take a few but still by no means hard at all.

I haven't made it seem harder than it is in fact I've done the opposite which is why I'm able to put lockpicking on my sampire when he visits the Labyrinth.

I don't advocate the use of consecrate weapon. I advocate bringing the right tools for the job at hand.

Players who want to honor, EoO, Consecrate and spam LS against Miasma by all means continue to do so but I'm not one of them.
