Parry for Casters?

    Hello,

    Hoping not to get flamed for this question...but [​IMG]

    Would having Parry at 100 prove of any use for a PvM mage/necro player. I was thinking perhaps instead of Magic Resistance. I have experimented with this on Test Server and at least with Ogre Lords, I was blocking a fair amount of damage (going by the little flash on the shield that happens when you parry).

    Rest of the build for PvM is shaping up as follows:

    Magery 100
    Med 100
    Eval 100
    Necro 100
    SS 100
    Poisoning 100

    I can cast lethal poison if the monster is very, very close. Thus my added interest in defensive skills.

    The above numbers do not include jewelry or scrolls. I am looking to put together a 7 ability build. Stat points are 225 + 20.

    Account is fairly new, so I am locked at 700 for skills.

    Nevermind...found another post regarding this question. Apparently if you don't have a good amount of dex, parry is less than optimal even if you GM it.

    Yep that magical figure is currently 80 Dexterity [​IMG]
     
  4. If your not using a mage weapon on that template you will get hit everytime by well everything.

    To get hit less you need to either pick up a weapon skill, mage weapon, wrestle or defensive wrestle.

    Imo 100 anatomy (defensive wrestle) would be your best option.

    100 anatomy + 100 eval would equal 110 defensive wrestle, monsters with less than 110 wrestle would then not hit you often.

    The formula for determining your defensive wrestle is (anatomy+eval+20) / 2 (capped at 120)

    I so don't understand why anyone would use anatomy instead of wresting. With wrestling, you still get the defensive power, but you can use paralyzing strikes and disarm as well, VASTLY increasing your defensive power.
