Long Long ago in a time were GM used to visit the players and talk to them personally, there was a guild of PKs, that called one over on the fact that there house disapeared. The GM came, and the PKs did what they do best, 1 dead GM and what was left was his robe... lol nice summing of that story lolz... anyways i used to have a character in a PK guild long ago, they moved from shard to shard (once transfer tokens came out and [IMG] they killed to get so much gold thye could just buy the transfer) I've now lost track of them.. but they always leave the robe on the front steps of the new guild house when they start at the new place... Does anyone know how much it would sell for if i could find them again and get it? (unlikely but possible... maybe...)

Sorry about this crazy question [IMG] hope you liked my buffered short sorty that explains how we got it [IMG]

Assuming this story is true, and the item looks like one of the modern day GM shrouds, and hasn't reverted or changed appearance in anyway you'ld have a few things to consider.

    1. shroud or robe?

    2. is it dyable?

    3. shrouds(assuming it is one) already exist in a variety of colors, and new ones could very well be introduced, including new shrouds with trim.

    4. would it be legal to wear it? since the shrouds worn by GMs are very distinctive, a non GM player with such an item and wearing it would probably not be viewed particuarly well.

    5. was this something that commonly occured in the past? could it be viewed as having been obtained via an exploit?

Are you looking for a price just as an initiative to go find it again?
That story is a lil hard to believe though.....but this is UO anythings possible...although I see any GM with common sense to get it back being as they can do that.

I'm curious as Gms are marked as Invunerable how they could kill him.....

If this DID happen it wouldve been in the VERY beginning but in the long run no matter how old it is.....id say its illegal to own if it does even exsist.

    I concur

  7. Only a proper screenshot would make us believe this. And a screenshot from an actual server, so not just a forged one from a player ran shard.

Despite all this, it is still illegal. I've talked (casually) to GMs about this before, and they will delete on the spot if they see you wearing it or even owning it.
So the actual value wouldn't be insanely high. Your account might even get banned for it. You can't show it anywhere, and one of your friends might just rat you out. Or a friend of a friend.

I dont think the gms were invul WAY back in the day. But that was WELL before xfers. AND I would be almost 100% certain that the GM would have taken his robe back. And if he didnt, and those schmucks left it on a doorstep, some jerk would have paged on the robe and it would have been deleted.

I find that odds of your story are slimingly true...i just dont that glass holds much water.

poison fields used to hurt GM's back in the day

also their robes are not removable its like their skin so i find the story very unlikely, i have seen a robe with trim on it and also the rainbow cloth but GM robes i find it nearly impossible to believe.

Thats what I was about to say, The robe is self is part of there Body value as we are human Male/human Female/Elf male/Elf female They are GM male/GM female

So there is NO way this is real, I know for a fact that as long as I have played it's always been like this because you can Never target a GM's robe and see it say anything like "GM robe".

With all this said and only having 3 post Id say it's a bull [censored] post just trying to get peoples hopes up.

In the old days, GMs could be slain and were not invulnerable. Anyways, I would qustion the validity of this story, also I know that wearing one of these would be bannable on sight.

Boy if this was legal (Which I don't know if it is or not) it would be a very valuable item. One of a kind, never able to get again.

So I was talking to a friend of mine about this, and he tells me that this did indeed occur and there was a GM robe at one point on he believes the Lake Superior shard. For those of you who will question his credibility he is a knowledgable reliable source of information.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes it happened on LS. and yea it was REALLY early like the start of year 1 month 4 i think... not sure but it was early... the didn't transfer/start to transfer until you could buy the tokens... Yes most people will say Bull... and this is... but eh, most of them aren't 10 year vets or beta's [IMG] Not sure who your sources are DVI but they are good. I though this was lost, I've just meet two of the old members and they told me that more then 100 of the members left... and they missed me "aww" [IMG] and they are not sure if the robe is still around.. they said they would look, and i will try to get the SC of it IF they can find it.. but since it was 9, 10 years ago... I'm sure they were stupid enough to lose it..

Yes it became part of their skin after this happened... i think about 2 months after considering all the technical skills needed to make the characters looks, since it was 10 years ago/..

I don't buy it. I am pretty sure the old GM robes, before they were a part of the GM paperdoll as they are now I believe, had no picture when not equipped on a GM's body and would appear as a nodraw or unused tile in a backpack. Similar to the wearable death shrouds.

The hooded shroud graphic is a relatively recent addition to the game.

As anyone who's played sphere will know, GM Robes are not an item.

It's a status bestowed upon a character and you are made to look that way.

The only "special" robes from way back then were:
    Death Shrouds
    Lord British's Armor
    Lord Blackthorn's Armor

Death shroud was simply a tile that said death shroud in white text and would normally just decay unless an admin specifically created the item to be an actual item in the setup files.

Lord british's armor and blackthorn's armor were also text tiles but would morph your character to look like blackthorn or british and cover whatever you were wearing and change your look entirely like a blanket graphic.

GMs and Counselors were all character attributes that are only editable through hard coding. You couldn't just set someone to look like that in game. both of them had GM robes of blue or red with gold trims.

So this story is completely fake. Ever see a GM wearing items? They show on top of the shroud because the shroud is their skin. If you don't believe it, simply go run a shard on your own PC and try it out [IMG]

From when GM Odee visited me at my house a long time ago and created the bracelet for me to take a screenshot of and taunt me for wanting a demon / daemon slayer sword back then.

Notice bracelet flows OVER the shroud. Hense it's part of the skin, not an actual worn item.

Notice necklace flows OVER the shroud again. Enough said, proof is shown.

Why do people make up stories? At least if you want to make up stuff go to a newbi thread. Not here. We know our stuff. The GM shroud is glued to the character.

There was a time when you can use an illegal exploit and made a hard copy of it and those are banned on sight. So if you do have one its most likely that.

I agree i do not believe this story is real, but if it was i would love to see a screen shot of a player wearing it [IMG]

Xel, I agree about the GM robe, but aren't Lord British and Lord Blackthorn's outfits part of their paper dolls as well? I remember playing with them on a Fuse server on my computer and they weren't outfits, they were characters you could change into, like the four children.

I know that in the beginning some players actually managed to kill LB and take his outfit. This supposedly was a tile that if you put it on, would put you in full LB costume.
This story has been confirmed by multiple sources. Many more than the GM robe story.

[/ QUOTE ]I know of one occurrance where a seer was killed and was looted. This seer played a monster in a minor event. The seer apparently had a tile in his backpack, most likely forgetting to take it out during the event. This tile was similar in shape to a "No Draw" tile, but with different graphics. I've seen the picture of it, but I haven't stored these pictures (wish I had)...

It was equippable like a robe, and it turned your paperdoll into Lord British...

I knew the person who owned it, and have spoken to him about it through ICQ and ingame. This happened on the Europa shard, his name was Lord Ulysses. Well known person and respectable reputation. I remember he bought it for 1m, or something similar (era without checks, that was a serious ammount of dosh back then!) from the person who looted it off the seer. Name of the looter was never given to me...

He paged a GM to find out about legallity. The tile was consequently deleted by them...

I seem to recall he bought it on Tradespot at that time, though I am unsure. I do know he was one of the richest players around that era, I don't think there were many others that could've afforded the tile back in those days...
