I'd like to lore, select, and tame my own greater.

I understand that having Honor is the way to go. However, I'm not sure how to do that with a peace tamer. I don't have any offensive skills.

    110 Taming
    110 Animal Lore
    100 Vet
    105 Magery
    70 Meditation
    110 Music
    115 Peace

I'll buy some jewelry and scrolls to get to 120/120, if necessary.

    Suggestions?

You have enough to do the job as long as you have honor.

On My Peace Tamer, I do one of two actions, I have a hot key for Area Peace. If I have unwanted attention, I will area peace it off and keep on runing to find a Greater Dragon. When I get to a Greater Dragon I hit my Invis Self Hot Key. Lore the thing and if I want to tame it, then Honor myself (hit invis self again if needed to lose aggro) and go Tame the thing, else move on to the next GD, rinse and repeat.

It isn't that you have offense, you have defense.

Direct Mob Peace - Area Peace (peace yourself)
    Invisibility Spell.

Having no offense, you need to finesse the situation, that means avoiding conflict and you have the above assets to do that with. They are up to the job.

Without looking and for any that may not know how ....

    Hotkey Macro for Area Peace

    useskill - peacemaking
    waitfortarget
    targetself

    Hotkey Macro for Invis Self

    castspell - invisibility
    waitfortarget
    targetself

I also have a hot key for heal self and cure self.

I think you misunderstood my question.

How do I gain honor if I have no offensive spells?

with your pet. you gain honor at a reduced rate, but you still gain. I maxed out honor fighting succubi this week at the fan dancer dojo with my cu

also: you don't need to use peace to honor tame. matter of fact, you shouldn't waste the clicks or the skill timer by using peace or any skill other than taming while honor is active. just activate the virtue, target yourself and tame away while you can. of course, it goes without saying that you should ensure that nothing is aggro'd on you when you activate honor or else you'll have to deal with that mob. I usually invis or hide right before I honor. also remember that activating the virtue counts as an action that will reveal you, so you only have a brief moment before any nearby hostiles target you

once you get the hang of it, honor taming is incredibly easy

    What scarab said.

Even using pets, hunting Daemons will let you get to follower of honor.

Maxing it will take a bit longer since you need to do succubus and balrons.

Also, remember you gain more honor as well if you do not move or is next to the mob. I just run next to the succubus before my cu deals the deathblow.

I have a pure peace tamer with no combat related skills iether, i gain to 3rd level honor training my pets on the sphynx :) i cannot max or i should say i havent ever made it to max but easy to get high rapidly in a relatively safe manner as the sphynx is only hostile to his attacker. your commanded pet :)

    Peace

    Yeah what they are saying,

Basic .... method is to find a more or less static spawn. I use Trasher in the Blighted Forest, the thing you need the machete to get into, it doesnt really matter all that much.

Get the pet into a place between you and the mob. Make sure the Pet is in a "All follow me" mode so it wont attack.

Honor the mob, have the pet attack it and kill it.

    Rinse and Repeat.

As a peacer just make sure you do not area peace or peace the mob your pet is killing as that will turn off the Honor as far as I can tell.

Other mobs that are good to get to 3rd Bubble of Follower are Ogre Lords (Ogre Lord Island in Despise), the White Wyrm in Ice Dungeon.

Ogre Lords and Thrasher do not cast Bless on themselves and that makes it easier to get Honor to take.

As a Tamer, you do not need to strike the mob first, you do not even need to attack the mob period. It coming and attacking your pet or your pet attacking it first are all it takes.

During this event, I am down with the Balron in the Fan Dancer DoJo and doing the Honor thing on it. I have Knight of Honor and suspect I am fairly close to "You can no longer gain in Honor".

Very good point! Target peace ruins your honor gains. Area peace is fine though. So is discord. Provoking another mob on your target also reduces honor gains (the more mobs attacking your target, the less honor you receive, so bring a single strong pet instead of a pack)

Ya know, I'd never ever seen the "You can no longer gain in Honor" happen. Not even with my sammy. I suspect it's capped, but they just didn't fix the message. No matter high much extra honor you gain after getting knight, each time you embrace it, it's immediately reduced it by 1 dot - means a knight becomes a follower of honor with 9 dots. Your next embrace will last only 2 mins (well, unless you get it back to knight first). This is unlike compassion and sacrifice where you can "overcharge" to gain some buffer.

Another thing, seeker of honor gives you approx 1 min of monster ignore, follower gives apprx 2 mins, knight gives apprx 3 mins.

    *shrug*

I am assuming it is like the virtue in the Twisted Wield. Unless I do not see some one doing that spawn for a while and help them, that Virtue is caped for me. Or said more simply I routinely get the "You can not gain...." message.

So if I can not cap it for honor, then no biggie :)

One of the things that did come out of this event is I now know how to go Play with the Balron down there

I have never done the Area Peace while doing the Honor thing, so I just assumed it wouldn't work. I will need to try that while I am down there.

Anyone want to know, as far as I am concerned the Balron down at the bottom of the Fan Dancer DoJo has got to be one of the absolute worst places to go to get event drops. :(

You would think that the bally would be an assured drop monster (per 8 at least) but nope.
The succubus is pretty good for drops. She has the same amount of karma and fame as the bally and is alot easier for a tamer/peacer to defeat with the right pet (Cu is the best, no healing required if you keep her peaced enough).
My all time fav is the Rune Beetles.

Back on the original topic. I would not waste peacing on a greater, since most of the time, even with 120 music and peace, your gonna fail. Area peace is fine (if no one is around. Do it when others are present and your in for grief) to keep the mobs off of you.
My method is to run around the edge of a mob and lure off the smaller beasties (wyrms, drakes and dragons) and park them (peace them) away from where I am conducting my search.
Run in pull bars from any prospective GDs, invis, check out if it is a GD that I might possibly keep. If it is a dud I try my best to lure it off to a corner and not die in the process. Go back and repeat the process until I have one that I want.
Once I have a possible keeper, I try to lure it to the eastern cavern (water eles spawn in the back end of it, and chests are in the front end) where I can tame in relative peace and not risk a newly tamed GD getting agrroed onto by the mob nearby.
Once I have it in the cave I invis and recall out to get my reliable GD to pound on the new one to make it more "pliable" to taming. (it will still cast on you, if your honor runs out, but at least you can get away easily).
Once I have its health down to the last 5th or 10th I recall out and stable old reliable. Recall back (have a rune mark for a safe spot) and Embrace my honor. Usually it takes just a few actual taming attempts (when taming actually starts not the "you anger the beast") to get myself a new GD to train up.
Your main goal is too burn as little honor as possible while taming. By the way, if you fail to tame it with your first honor attempt, you will have to wait 5 min to embrace it again. (another reason to lure it to a location that you can easily return too, and find your target.)
    Good luck, and happy hunting.

You will gain honor slower with a rune beetle because it uses poison. Before this TOT event, I would take my Cu to the Dojo and just kill sucubus. It took about twice as long to gain knight of honor with a pet as it does with a melee char, but it is doable. Because you lose a bubble everytime you use honor I'll sorta borrow/change a phrase from an Seinfeld episode, save your honor until you find a pet that is honor-worthy.

Too clarify, I was using Rune Beetles as a reference to what I use to get drops on ToTs. Not as a monster to use for gaining in honor.
Rune Beetles won't get you very far trying to gain honor.
The best to use for honor gains:
Seeker - Swoops (slow kills but higher than some with the gain), sphynx.
Follower- Swoops for a bubble or so, sphynx, Succubus (at 4 bubbles and higher)
Knight- Sphynx (I know of little monsters to use in this path since I rarely get this high.)

Ice Fiends works well too up to 3 bubbles before Knight of Honor.

Get 120 taming/lore. Lead tame it like the pro's do :)

  15. beware.. honor taming has a 3 min timer... as i found out this eve.
i am a norm peace tamer using a sc, balanced bow to prevent self def from stopping the tame..i had what what i thought was the perfect GD at the entrance to despise after 20 mins of goading it to follow me.. to see the msg
u must wait 3 mins to honor thyself?

anyway after a nasty breath attack i ran got healed collected my body, waited 3 min's and collected my GD only a 3.7.. low hp mainly... still a great drag imo we'll see after training..

area peace the ticket to all your dragon scouting missions. ha ha..

There is a 5 Minute Cool Down Timer between Honor Attempts.

I have not done this for a very long time but I think there is also a check for having used a skill, beats me why but I am fairly sure there is a timed check going on. Such that if you run up to a Greater Dragon for example, hit the Hide button, Peace etc you will get a message saying you need to wait a while (measured in seconds) before you can use another skill.
