Who wants pipes and cigarettes in the Game?
That would be sweet.Pipes could be found in treasure chests, as loot from pirates (the new yarr expansion) etc.
Also, pipes could be made craftable by a carpenter, retaining the color of the wood they were made of.

Has been discussed --- will not be allowed based upon the Game Rating.

  4. Rolling a joint...
    Smoking Crack...
Burning a spoon to melt the heroin for injection...

Where will it end? The idea as you posted is highly offensive, does NOT belong in a game.

Cigarettes don't belong in the game; they are primarily a later invention. Cigars and pipes, maybe - but then you run into the health fascists. Personally, I don't see a need for them in the game (as people are certain to RP it as smoking something other than Tobacco).
(from here on out is a rant)

Does it strike anyone else funny that many of the places seeking to tax-to-death/ban cigarettes are also places where the same people are constantly trying to get cannibis legalized for "MEDICAL" reasons?

Ironic, since joints have no filters and many more contaminants than tobacco (especially if you consider the regulation of pesticides, compared to even "Legal" dispensaries being caught selling illegally grown pot from outside the US, smuggled in, since many don't properly oversee their supposed "domestic" suppliers).

Even though I'm a non-smoker, I know one thing; many non-smoking regulations are violation of private property rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights in the US. While I prefer to patronize places that are non-smoking by owner's choice, I try to avoid giving restaurant tax income to municipalities enact smoking bans that ignore owners' rights.

They should put their money where their mouth is - legalize pot and all other smokables (like the artificial canniboids) under the same taxes, usage restrictions (including filters), growing regulations and sales/ad restrictions as Tobacco, then add the "under the influence" penalties on top of it (like with alcohol), and go after unlicensed growers the way they do moonshiners - or ban all of it. The double standard is appalling.

While I agree with you on some levels on others I don't.

It's a health issue about the smoking. If it weren't for the fact that Second Hand Smoke does harm folk who choose not to pollute themselves and does cause folk forced to work in toxic situations to have a health hazard.... I'd agree with you about smoking in public places.

However the truth is smoking kills... and I prefer my air to be unpolluted.

As far as legalizing Pot they should have done that many, many years ago.

Funny how drinking is legal though it has hazards like liver disease and it can be extremely addictive... as well drunk driving kills.

While smoking pot can slow your reflexes it's not too often you see folk getting lung cancer and other things from years of pot smoking. Usually that's only associated with cigarettes. Though I would like to see a study done on it.

It's weird what we choose to legalize and what we choose to ban.

Medical benefits of pain management from pot smoking is also well documented.

Personally I'd rather deal with someone who's high on pot than a drunk but maybe that's just me.

Do you ever wonder if Columbus had brought back pot instead of tobacco would it be the smoke of choice now? I'm betting it would be.

Pipes belong in any roleplaying game. Big meerschaum pipes of all shapes and styles, with secret codes on the stems.

    The rest not so much.

Pipes were around in those times...Look at lord of the rings....cigs tho...were not invited until the 1800s or was it later 1700 I cant remember....So

As for pot being illegal and so forth..Ok Alchol stays in your system for 1 day then its gone..Pot stays in your system for a month..HOW would yoiu drug test this? thats the only thing right there.

you smoke pot and then quit..then in 3 weeks you have to do a drug test...still in your system...btw EVEN if pot was legal....I can NOT drink on the job...and drinking is legal...

Right there is your reason why its illegal..

I do agree with you tho...to a point..I say legalized everything..then tax it..I mean we are the counrty of freedom...BUT people tend to that away one ban at a time...

Ok sorry for my rant :D

The 'War on Drugs' is just a ploy by the fat cats: "You can't sell weapons if there isn't a fight going on..."

The main difference here is alcohol tends to make you over-confident in addition to slowing down your reflexes. This is an extremely dangerous combination on the road.
Pot will slow down your reflexes, just like alcohol, but tends to make you over-cautious instead. Still not a very good state of mind for the road but nowhere near as dangerous as alcohol.

In the Netherlands we have a saying: Een tevreden roker is geen onruststoker. Which translates to: A contented smoker is not a troublemaker.

In the Pot VS Alcohol discussion there is no contest. Alcohol is without a doubt the greater 'evil'.

Pipes, only if they come with a negative effect on stamina (eliminate stamina regen for a time or drops stamina). Similar to the idea that being drunk doesn't allow one to meditate.

Here in New York they want to ban cigs in public places. They are crazy and theres a growing push to ban electric cigs probably by the tobacco companys. Though am sure everyone finding ways to tax it. Then just the other day the news showed undercover cops getting cigs from the natives in long island like we all don't know that already. Combine with the recent ban of mailing f cigaretts. The government thought they get more money by taxing it more but now seeing a decrease in profit due to 12 dollar a pack. I make my own and get tobacco made for cigars same taste. Pay 15 dollars for 4 carton worth for making my own. And if they try to stop that I will just grow my own plants. The gov tax regulators can beg elsewhere.

Legalize pot......that's a good one. It's bad enough alot of people drive like snails as it is......you get behind a burnout with roadmaps for eyes, paranoia for an emotion, and him or her going like 5 mph. No thanks.

not only that, but I grew up in the 70's, I know about weed. It's bad enough our legislators allow alcohol to consumed and people get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Bars need to have no parking lots for starters.

I could see this as good for an RP standpoint. However due to those wonderful game ratings, I doubt it could be added in.

BTW, my post seems to be getting a bit misconstrued. I'd rather just ban all of it, but using tax law to drive pot use back underground (for years, pot growing was kept down by requiring a tax stamp to grow it, then not issuing any - thereby making pot growing a TAX offense - of course, the Supreme Court took issue with it for no apparent legitimate reason) and off the roads to me is preferable to the current BS. After all, I'd rather have the infernal revenuers chasing the pot farmers than randomly auditing people. Remember Al Capone....

There's no proof that pot is in any way safer than tobacco - it is more likely to end in death sooner, from stupidity done during intoxication, than Tobacco's longer-term effects, and there's been practically no research done on the effects of smoking pot long-term (from both brain effect, and inhalation of the smoke from the plant), as compared to Tobacco - lack of research in comparison to Tobacco does NOT mean it's safer in any way.

This poll has strayed a little too far from the topic.
