Guild Wars 2 will be introducing there new World versus World when released. ArenaNet will have the structured PvP ( which is in the current Guild Wars) in Guild Wars 2 so fear not for the fans of the structured pvp.
World versus World pvp will be 3 servers (worlds) will be matched against each other. Each side will have 2 weeks to compete for resources and rewards. The winner after 2 weeks will get a server bonus. Each side can have hundreds of players fighting.

If one server has captured a fort, but the other server has taken over the mines, then the first server can send a smaller group to disrupt the caravans, or weaken the enemy defenses. Now the third server can be attacking everybody or disrupting the other two servers. The fight can go either way but after 2 weeks a winner is declared.

What is nice about Guild wars 2 pvp that you can just pvp and never have to pve. You can level up all through PvP. The hardcore pvpers will love the fact you never have to pve. Also you can use your PvE character to pvp with. No more dedicated pvp character only.

If a player changes servers then that player can not participate in World versus World pvp for a limited period of time. Any player can join or leave a pvp battle at any time.

Players will receive loot in PvP. Players will not lose any items or loot they have in PvP. All players will gain experience in pvp. ArenaNet will have the cap for all characters that do enter PvP maxed to 80 with the current armor and items that a player is wearing. Same for skills. Items and rewards received in World Versus World pvp can be used in pve.

The structured PvP will be the same as it is in the original Guild Wars. Items and rewards are not granted in pve. A player earns glory and fame that can be used to buy items.

Some videos for more information and a basic look of what it is like.
