please make more and new stealables.

    hi i have a thief who steals artifacts and other stealable items not from other players being i don't have any desire too steal from other players not all thiefs in the game want to steal from other players keep that in mind. my request to the dev teams is to add more and new stealable items and artifacts to the game to the already existing stealable items and arties we have today so we have a bigger and better variety of stealable items. it would be nice if some of these stealable items can be in other places like the anti virtue dungeons too and other places. maybe some can be as rare or more rare then the ruined painting is. one last thing there are some old stealable that we cant steal or get anymore that i wish would be put back in the game. i will make this a multiple choice poll with multiple answers if you want so please vote or comment thanks. please note this is a copy of my last post i made an error with my last post in the polls that i can't fix so this is the official one.

    We don't just need new ones, we need the old ones replaced. That's what the devs were planning to do with them originally anyway, IIRC. Are more than enough of the old floating around now anyway.

    all i want is stealable playing cards. i'm sorry but tarot cards just won't cut it :p and for that matter, i want playable playing cards :)

    In all honesty, while I steal and sell decor arties, I don't want that to be the sole use for my thief. Before any new stolen arties were added, the thief skill should be shown some love for it's PvP function. I know people complain about thieves in Fel, but I preferred splitting Sophia's time between stocking her shop and filling her own pockets.

    What I miss is the unusual things people once carried which couldn't be insured. I never got anything uber, but it was just fun. Now it's very samey - resources, powerscrolls etc. Yeah a PS is valuable, but more variety would be good :)

    If we're to add more content for collector type thieves, we should make some of it more realistic. For example, a quest where a shady museum curator asked you to steal item x from a particular location. If in fel, the bonus would be higher depending on the location. You might be asked to borrow from the balron's home in Hythloth for example :p Or stealing from particular NPCs too - like "so-and-so is getting married soon. Wait outside the jewellers and steal his bride's ring when he leaves". Make it more than turning up at the appropriate location, grabbing an item right as it spawns at a predetermined time. I don't like picking things off the floor, but there are ways of engaging a thief character with a bit more RP to it. I think it'd be funny if little gangs of thieves got together to go raid a castle for example.

    I would love to see a thief quest system of sorts.. for example: You find the NPC thief GM, and ask him for a quest.. (duh) and he tells you to go to some unused NPC house, and steal a specific item, and bring it back for your cut. Lockpicking should also be made more of a thief skill, rather than a treasure hunter skill.. maybe that house's door is locked, and can only be picked?

    Or perhaps tweak it a lil bit, and make it like a BOD system.. where you need to steal a bunch of specific items, and turn em in all at once for your cut.

    As far as stealables go, leave the classic items (such as ceramic mugs, dirty pots/pans, skull mugs... stuff like that) out of the picture; for the purpose of rares collecting. If you want them back in the game, then theyre pretty much worthless... so no point in stealing them, right? Im fine with adding new items like that, maybe same graphic on some of them, just a different tag.

    Item insurance needs the axe as well.. or at least a tweak. Maybe the thief gets 600gp per steal of an insured item.. and cannot re-target the same item for a few minutes..?

    Skill gains as well.. Because everyone knows that legendary thief got sooo good by stealing dye tubs from his horse... .. . for real?

    It used to be like that.. really dont know why it was changed. Like i used to steal from noble escorts.. and if you attacked them, they would "summon" mercenaries to attack you..

    People didn't like killing monsters only to have the best loot already stolen off the monster by a theef.

    Ettins and trolls are one thing.. Think it would be kinda hard to steal from a drag or deamon and make it away alive..

    *rummages through a corpse and takes an item*

    and now all of a sudden, the MOB has more gold than he started with...

    There are hundreds of chest in the different areas of Ish. Not a single one of them is anything more than deco. Have various items spawn in them, and you need to lockpic/steal to get the loot.

    ooo i love the idea of collector's quest. That would actually give Nikka a reason to build up her skills.

    i would love to see new items to steal. The compition for simple skulls is crazy. add those who know the time of the good spawns, and your average thief isn't worth running. I dont steal from players either.
    i'd love to see more unique items - like ruined paintings.
    i'd love to see more simple stuff - there's a million things that can be added to the chests, boxes, nooks and cranny's of the game.
    more places to find them! i'm bumping into other thieves!
    but for the love of thievery, CHANGE THE TIMING. make it more random. make them spawn ANYWHERE in the cave/building/city.
    make thieving fun again!

    are you an English teacher or something because i gotta tell you, you sure do correct peoples' grammar a lot. but, i suppose if all you can do is stay hidden on siege perilous until you find something to steal from someone (even though 90% of the people are hidden as well) you probably have a fair bit of time on your hands. also, i'm sure everyone appreciates you chiming in with your comment about him being a 'crate'. you are quite condescending and conceited and you would be best to get an actual job and not stay on these boards posting 50+ messages a day. that is all.

    What we really need is a revamp of stealing in general. The current system was designed for UO as it was back in the day. I think it would be a lot more interesting to allow stealing of more things common or otherwise.

    What if you could steal just about anything you can see and objects in the world would respawn at set intervals but in random locations?

    Just think of randomly generated decoration items spawning in random locations at random times throughout the world...

    Basically if it highlights you can snatch it with a thief any facet in town or not. If your in town you run the risk of getting busted. If you get busted instead of getting killed on the spot you get hauled off to a small jail within the city and must remain there for 1 hour real time BUT the time will pass even if you log out.

    You can escape jail using different tactics to get out sooner.

    Stealing from players for the most part could remain the same though.

    I just think being able to steal more than a list of items only in a couple of dungeons would make thieves far more interesting to play.

    Thieves being able to actually trade stolen goods or cash in on them for gold would make stealing real useful eh. Imagine all the thieves running around snatching up everything they see then hitting the bank to swap one stolen item for another or sell the stolen item off for whatever it's worth.

    How about objectives for stealing? Gain access to this NPCs home remain undetected and disarm the traps surrounding the goods. Successfully steal the item and then choose to either keep the item sell it or return it to the person originally asking you to steal it for them.

    You could have time limits on each step and different progressively more difficult objectives.

    Thieves competing to reach the end of the same objective?

    I voted yes for both because I played back when you could steal from other players and now thieves are limited to pretty much just 5 areas.....Siege!!!!Doom, Fan Dancer Dojo, that cave with the fire beetle and some crates in town.... Thieves have needed new content for a long time but there are other skills that have been waiting longer......

    This was the problem the unusual things had nothing to do with pvp.. People were losing stuff they did not want to lose.

    I know all the arguments...blah.. risk.. blah.. protect your pack.. blah. nerf... learn to pvp blah.

    At one point in time you could not walk to one end of west brit bank without running into 5 or more thieves. It was a pathetic joke. Old school is not coming back...

    I do hope they can find something to curb the masses darker nature but highly doubt it...

    I am a proponent of a shifting field of artifacts.

    Stealable, and non-stealable.

    In other words, one day the Inquisitor's Resolution stops spawning, but in its place is the Paladin's Bracelet. +20 Chiv, FC1, FCR1, 20 HCI.

    Or what have you.

    With as many caps as we have, it's very hard to make an over-powered item these days; the most you'll end up doing is giving flexibility with the other items in a set. Granted, this is a major advantage, but it ain't like the early days of AoS, when 5/9 mages were possible and increasingly common.

    I'd say my job is just fine thanks...you're just mad that you can't multitask like I can.

    In regards to hiding...well, yeah...I hide in the shadows...it's what thieves do. I snoop many a pack and don't bother taking anything...if there is nothing of worth. If I am out in the field...I may grab something that is heavy enough for me to be seen making the grab to turn me grey...but why is that? The chase.

    Thieves steal things from other players...thieves don't pick items up off the floor or out of the bottom of a crate...la

    Well you have a few kinds of rogue scenarios, some of them are thief:

    1) Lockpick and steal: townee thief, also factions

    2) Steal only: Doom, dojo, mines

    3) Snoop and Steal: PvP thief

    4) PvM thief: removed from game

    5) Lockpick only: anti-virtue dungeon chests, guard towers

    6) lockpick, cartography: t-maps

    7) none of the above: broken chair, various rares

    It would be nice to see an update for all these things. One strength of UO is the skill system, with many variations on the rogue. It is trollish to say one template is the "true thief" and the others are worthy of ridicule. However, not all rogues are thieves, would need stealing.

    I think you should be able to steal from evil mages, brigands, executioner types at the least, perhaps all repond. You could, maybe, add a "snoop-pack" that is generated upon snooping and used for stealing.

    PvP thievery needs to be balanced by the detective, imo. You should need to be in disguise to steal, forensics brings it down. Have unique items in Fel that thieves and detectives can fight over. Cursed ingredients and runics.

    There needs to be a fun PvM activity for the detective to train up on, like there is for the thief. Mystery quest generator, perhaps using the body parts you find on zombies and things.

    Anyway, sounds like a whole new release. UO Mysteries. Maybe after Stygian Abyss.

    We used to be able to. But i guess the devs didn't like the idea that thieves could steal items from monsters because we could steal the items from them while they were fighting other players. The NERF police called for our heads because we could steal most items from alich before a player could kill them...la

    you think that because you learned to steal and stealth around you have this right to deprive everyone else of their enjoyment. you do not deserve the items you steal because if you die you lose nothing. it is not equal.

    are you suggesting everyone make a thief so we can just steal nothing from each other? what do you lose if you fail? a thief could wear a death robe and stealth around, thus losing nothing if they are killed. it doesn't make any sense.

    you spend 99% of your time hidden and that 1% of the other time is spent stealing something successfully or getting killed and losing nothing so you can try again right away. that's actually pretty pathetic.

    now, go ahead and read through this post and correct my grammar since it's apparently your only insult...la

    I like the idea of a thief quest like the one mentioned above... could even gain fame and lose karma upon completion in addition to the reward.
