    Simple yes or no.

You can still like it even if you dont use it and you can still hate it even if you do.

I hate everything about it, the lag, the prices, the bank sitting is horrible for more than 10 people, it killed vendor homes outside of the gates, arg!

The lag is from houses, which are created by people.

The lag is from large amounts of people, which is the peoples fault.

The prices are the people taking advantage of buyers.

    Bank sitting is people.

So far, you hate people, and not actually luna itself.

Totally hate it. As a city I dont have a problem. However, with what it represents now, I hate it. It represents laziness, ugliness, greed and corruption (scripting/duping, or whatever else you want to put there).

For any UK people who know Milton Keynes, I dislike Luna for the same reasons. It all looks ugly, its just a bunch of shops with a bank in the middle, its a lifeless inorganic grid and every road looks the same!

How is it right that you can just log out, bank, get bods, sell stuff, stable pets and go to a moongate all within 2 screens and with very little movement! Makes a mockery of every other town in UO. In addition, it is ugly and has so little history compared to that of Britannia.

Finally, nobody starts in Luna or even Malas anymore!

It just makes me sad that theres all these other towns around UO that are all so empty. Shops, roads, banks.. it looks so wrong to see. There is no logical reason for shopkeepers to exist if nobody uses them :D

I personally feel that 99.9% of Luna vendor home owners are crooks.

Love ya Hanse but putting so many conveniences so close to a moongate; smith, bank, tailor, stable, inn, provisioner, fletcher, cobbler, jeweler, carpenter, made all other towns in UO undesirable because we humans are lazy arses.

    Move that gate!

Or move the banker. Just need a group of 5 or 6 of us to run off with him in the night and bam, no more Luna!

I have no problem with the city itself (although I miss the look of KR sandstone and always hated the look of 2d sandstone, but that's just me), however I HATE what the city has done to the player trading markets. While I don't mind centralization of trade, I dislike such centralization that shuts out portions of the players base (in effect: If you weren't lucky enough to place a house, rich enough to buy a house, or willing to pay out the nose to rent a spot and want to run a vendor, you're effectively shut out of Luna and thus the VAST majority of the UO ingame vendor market).

luna brought the people... hence, I hate luna.

that's like saying War is not bad, it's the killing in war that's bad... well no ****, war is suppose to be about killing. Luna was MADE to have all those homes, be a vendor hub and the bank has everything around it for bank sitters. it was tailored for exactly what I hate about it... so yes, I hate Luna cause it's the MEANS to what I don't like. I don't know if you're being sarcastic, or actually that dumb right now

  12. Hate it.

Laggy, ugly, and a haven for cheaters.

If Malas or Sosaria for that matter, were a Huge Buttocks....Luna would most likely be the rectum....sorry for the analogy...

  15. I should say right up front that I do own a Luna vendorhouse so my thoughts may be somewhat biased.

I really miss the player interaction that we had years ago in West Brit. Those were "The Days". And it is true that is harder to have conversations with people in Luna because of the small space. It was so much easier and better at Brit Bank.

I don't, however, believe that so called Luna prices has anything to do with the town itself. Prices are set by the players. Individual players I might add. So if you want to blame anyone for pricing, blame the person that owns the vendor...not the town.

I honestly believe that a lot of the negativity that is geared toward Luna vendors is simply out of jealousy. I have seen people post about how bad Luna is, actually post the worst things Ive ever seen written on the boards, but...when they get the chance to own a house there..BAM...they are there and all of a sudden think they that Luna is the best thing since peanut butter. Ive seen this several times and I laugh like hell when i see it.

Bottom line is this...Who is keeping people from congregating in Brit like we used to? EA isn't, I'm not, other vendorhouse owner aren't.

When we did use Brit as the main place to meet up, you had to rune in and out if you were working on something to get supplies and such, and no one really saw it as bothersome. Why can't we do that now? I don't see anyone stopping us.

So, I say quit blaming Luna for prices, housing, lag, or lack of space. You get more done by action than mouthing. Go to Brit...start a trend.

    I know I would go! :)

I like Luna for what it is...A giant supermarket. I don't hang out in supermarkets in real life, and I don't in UO. I bank in Jhelom or Skara. It is up to the players to choose where they wish to hang out, and obviously that is where most players wish to hang out.

And anyone who believes that owning a house in Luna makes you a crook is just plain :dunce:

we tried that on LS, twice. once when Tram was born, ended up not working, same about a year or two ago. it's hard to convince people to go back to something less convient. So I will admit that I do bank sit at luna, I don't like it. but that's where the people are. I know it only takes one to start a movement, but that's a tough one to win ;)

I have to say that Luna hasn't actually started anything new, in terms of scripters and cheats. I agree - people should go to brit! Whenever I can, I go pto brit bank roof. And People used to gate to their shops, and a few I know were banned for doing so whilst unattended.

Still, the market was great for sellers back then. You could have a shop in many places and make money. People would run to despise and you could have a good vendor set up there. Now, everything you need is in one place. I really blame those big invasions - first they messed up Brit so everyone went to Haven. Then they messed up haven, so everyone went to Luna. Now they stay there.

Luna has in many ways become a condensed version of UO. With certain websites that dubiously allow you to see what vendors around Luna have, there is no real need to ever look for anything. Layout in packs, shop decoration and vendor names are totally irrelevant. It is even possible for a player to join up, use cash to buy SoTs, use cash to buy armour and weps and then recall to all the new areas. There would be minimal travelling and absolutely no need to know a thing about UO, being able to use still more websites to find out how to quickly complete quests. Although a bit exaggerated, this purified and condensed form of gaming is appealing to many and there are other games that do the same thing, at the expense of a more detailed experience that isn't so "easy" and requires a bit more labour, through adventuring, waiting, social interaction and knowledge.

So in essence what im saying is that after 13 years or so, UO has become far more "boiled down", with many systems redundant, non-existent or now mostly useless. I would perhaps blame this on developers past, who have made various decisions that have altered UO so significantly. Players will adapt a game in whatever form it is, but they can only work within the game itself. Different teams have constantly changed UO to what it is today. It is only because of those changes that what we have today is the way it is.

tl;dr - scripters and cheats have always been around in one form or another and so its Hanse's fault that Luna is Luna (or whoever invented it)

I'm not responding to this poll.

Don't like or like what about Luna?

Vendor houses? Bank sitting? The Chivalry skill? The talking Moongate?

    *shrugs*

Luna isn't going anywhere, regardless of what we self-selected players who are into this game enough to post about it put in a poll.

  23. I really hate that people do blame a lot of the cheating and scripting on Luna. If you stop and think about it, probably very little of this goes on in Luna. There is nothing there to script. You see so much more of this going on in Brit around the mountains, around forest areas, or anywhere that there may be useful resources.

Cheating, from what I'm told, goes on more in Fel, in the pvp areas...not Luna.

I just dont get the statements about Luna being the main "cheating and scripting" area on UO.

Try running around any of the older dungeons and watch people sitting there unattended killing things to get drops and gold. Thats not Luna either.

    Im baffled! :sad4:

How about dis like with a touch of like? It's a nice area to meet with people but so was Brit bank. It's a but plain, which I don't like. Not many areas to deco though without cause it to be cramped tho.

    I miss WBB :(

  25. I miss WBB too! I think some of the very best memories I and others have of UO took place at WBB.

I remember when someone sold me a little red book that had been named "Box of Cigars" and I thought I had bought my very first rare!!!!

I loved the space to be able to sit in groups and talk about anything under the sun...and we did.

I think someday we will all get back there. Honestly I do.

while the concept of a walled city is as much ultima as dungeons, I think it should have been bigger with a size limit on houses and fewer vendors in between the city proper and the outside walls

screw that ****...Give me WBB...there you could find the upbeat class next to the scums sharing stories of old and new. The vendors were sometimes nice and the guards Would sometimes help you out....

Dislike? Not strong enough of a word. Despise? Loathe? Hate? All come close.

Luna, and by extension, the vendors currently in Luna, ruined the *player* economy. Not the game economy - there is a difference. But much like Wal-Mart and shopping malls destroyed mom and pops, Luna destroyed the small vendor that wasn't lucky enough to beat some scripter in placing when the expansion was released. Yeah, I said it. Luna is a town that is based on cheating from the start. And it's no better now than it was then. Vendors selling MULTIPLE hundreds of thousands of ingots... yeah, that happens through normal gameplay... I see it every day...don't you?

Someone mentioned jealousy? Please... It's difficult to not just outright laugh at someone that has an ego that is THAT overblown... the only reason you are important, and those around you, is that you will go down in the annals of UO history as THE primary cause of the destruction of the economy as it relates to the normal, non-cheating, non-cheater supporting individuals.

But keep on supporting the dupers, scripters, and other misc cheaters. And telling yourself just how important you are...

    ----

Luna is the town that should have been reduced to rubble... and it still needs that treatment.

If you don't like Luna, stop going there. It's really that simple.

I don't know why so many people who complain about Luna but still use it. I remember when WBB was the place to be, people used to hang around there and complain about all the banksitters. Uh.. you're one of them?

I tend to agree, I hugely miss WBB, I miss the people selling llamas and ostards, I miss the conversations, the gating of shops (although Luna has that occasionally).

Even though I miss WBB I can't deny Luna as being very handy, It is butt ugly, But it's the place to shop, I can spend 30 minutes to an hour circling the place looking at all the nice new artifacts I can hope to purchase.

Getting rid of the bank would help, It should drive people back to WBB, Every shard has a lovely WBB that has been designed by its players, We should respect and appreciate them by using the WBB. Most of the WBBs also have a moongate so its VERY easy to get to Luna for the shops.

So I say get rid of the Luna bank, But keep the player shops, As that really is what makes Luna useful.

It is quite ugly, all that cheddar cheese sandstone. Briefly, when I began using KR and before they took away the new structure art from EC, it looked quite nice. I wish I had a screenshot.

But yes, if they wiped out the bank core I would suggest putting in a proper market square, similar to Ter Mer but not 700 screens wide (why do they do that?). Established shops would still be around the outer road, but the central area could have temporary rented barkers or stalls. These could be used by the independent shops out on the fringes, and would list your wares and/or teleport you to that shop.

    Hail Folks,

Luna has its pros & its cons, like many Towns. Most of the negative comments seem to involve the "vendor houses."

It seems to me a solution would be to simply prohibit vendors within the city walls. Luna, supposedly the sister city to Trinsic in its relation to Paladins and Chivalry, could come to its senses and decide to remove the moneychangers from the temple, so to speak.

Perhaps that would make a better poll: would you prefer no vendors were permitted in Luna?

Once vendors were driven out, Luna has awesome potential to become a Town strongly influenced by Paladins and their Code of Chivalry.

Hope endures, even as we wait.

P.S. on Baja the Shard Player provided Community Center is located in Luna.

  45. Nope...just their vendors.

<RP> As long as the skill of chivalry requires tithed gold to draw power, it's mock piousness to distance the code of chivalry from commerce. And even better than buying sanctity, those with the right armour can get it for free. </RP>

Honestly, I don't think we can or should pigeonhole people by location. Perhaps that's because I enjoy my freedoms too much. I'm quite happy to live in a town run by zealots, but I just want to raise my chickens.

No feelings about the city, itself. I just like convenience.
