So, as with every patch, I check InsideUO (nice stuff there that I'm not telling about), and I notice that the 12th Anniversary Cake has changed... looks like it should be doing the nifty "hue" thing, where part of the cake stays one color, and the rest of it hues. It also looks like the perspective shifted some...

Well, for the cakes, the perspective still doesn't line up with the isometric viewpoint of the game, and in the Enhanced Client, they've gone wonky:

Which of course got me to thinking about the Potted Silver Serpent Tree:

And, while I don't have an image of it (not chancing the loss of a Codex of Virtue), the Codex of Virtue was taken from the original that's of correct perspective in the Abyss and it was simply reduced in size along the X and Y axises. The unfortunate side effect of that is that when you take an isometric circle and shrink it like that, you end up with a squished circle (which is why the Codex of Virtue seems a bit off).

Hopefully this art can be revisited and fixed.

Suppose this would have been better the first time out with the correct image links. *grin*

    Not likely.

It's funny, sometimes I'll look at the objects and study the perspective and it becomes hard to tell what objects are off and which are correct. I kinda prefer the look of the pot on the tree... more of a peeking into than a looking down on... but OMG next to that table it makes me want to take a job at an art school teaching Perspective... because clearly kids are graduating from school and getting jobs on art teams without a basic understanding of the concept.

Yeah, the issue isn't so much with the tree... it works fine without the pot. But that pot is majorly skewed, and doesn't line up with the isometric perspective.

The cake's the same way. Stuff that should be "squared" at the corners and even with the isometric lines just aren't.
