Hi everyone, I'm a returning player(it's been a very long time) and, not knowing very well the new stuff I was thinking about some old school template and I thought I'd ask for you expert advise

So first off I was planning on making an archer / fencer, in first place I was thinking about giving him some chivalry, something like:

    120 archery
    120 fencing
    120 resist spell
    100 tactics
    100 anatomy
    90 healing
    xx chivalry

based on a 720 skill cap, maybe with a Hunter headdress or so

but then, seeing that with ML you get poison arrows, I thought maybe poisoning could be a good choice, having lethal poison on a kryss and the occasional serpent arrow. also, I think not having to worry about fc/fcr would make finding proper equip much easier and this is roughly what i thought of:

    120 archery (100 + HH)
    120 fencing
    120 resist s
    100 poisoning
    100 tactics
    100 anatomy
    90 healing

which would make 730 skill total and will have to get some +10skill somewhere (ring or so)

Ofcourse I'll have to think of something for recalling, maybe some +magery stuff to use with scrolls i guess

Also, this would get me to 300 combat skill and give the -10 mana cost on specials, and not having chiv would save me a lot of mana giving me better stat options

From here on I'll let you take over if you have some considerations I could use, also what kind of equip / stats and combos I should go after, and how usefull can ML bows/artis be in pvp.

On that last note, i guess that the shortbow is kind of useless but with the 1.25 swing speed could help to interrupt mages in case i get stuck somewhere, while the elvish longbow sounds situationally useful to me (also i'd like to know how long would the force arrow's effect last)

I personally really like this idea of poisoning with the double combat but i was just wondering how effective it could be

    Thanks everyone,
    cheers

    I'd personally go swords but
If the template is played correct it can be extremely deadly..disarm dp AI moving shots..with a nice splintering weapon..

Go fencing for the poison over serpent arrow. Ive tried a few variations of mana drain and hit fatigue with short bows without much success in pvp. Consider ninja.

Swords is better with DP..u have a disarm/dp weapon..with fencing you'd have to go from war fork to disarm kryss to DP and then to bow for moving..with swords and a butcher knife you are only switching the two weps out

Just a tought (Havent tested it)
If you go for disarm first, then u can get away with 90 archery.
And still have access to primary and secondary specials..
Assuming the target dosent have wrestling ofcause.

There is an auto-cure thing build in, if u have poisoning skill..so here you should be able to skip ana. (u will heal less..cant cure, but poisoning skill should do this for u)
    so you could go..
    120 sword
    090 archery
    090 tact
    120 healing
    120 resist
    080 nox
040 chiv (mostly to recall around, remove curse..etc etc)
060 spellweave (renew, pixies,attentude..at youre disposal)
    720 total

If youre not happy with 90 archery, slap on some juwels to get you to 120.

Well first off thanks everyone for your reply, I was doubting the possible effectiveness of the build and having a couple opinions kind of made me want to try it.

I'm not sure kaio i'm willing to keep 90 in archery as I will definitly be fighting wrestling mages as well and I'd rather have something I can rely more effectively on. Also, if i'd go poisoning i'd want 100 points in it for the lvl5 poison but I don't know about the auto-cure thing? Am I missing something?
But now it just came to my mind, how would some points in bushido work out?Would 60-/70 points in bushid obe completely useless? I'm not sure about chivalry as it will be kind of hard to get the right equipment to be effective, at least at the beginning.
And also, I'm new to the new race mechanics, Is there something I could use with the JOAT human bonus? I heard someone saying sw's renew saved him a couple times or is it useless?

You could do as i suggested...add +30 archery on juwels.
Yes you missed something, poisoning skill add a orange-petal alike effect. (i have no numbers on this :( )
With 80 poisoning, you will have 80% chance for upgrade, with 100 poisoning u get 100% upgrade.
50 bushido is what u need for honor, and the special moves (most of them i think..on a yumi its 50 bushido)
Bushido also comes in handy if u raid lets say despise, and there is alot of monsters, then u can honor yourself, and get a "spawn free card" for some minutes.

Spellweaving at 20, can be usefull, but you cant rely on it, because you fail too much...
I have 60 sw on my archer atm, its very nice.
I find chiv to be very usefull, even with 0/0 casting.
When you get dismounted, people will try to poison youre mount.
When u see them cast "in nox" its all the time you need to cast cure.

The only thing i could find about poisoning is: "Poisoning skill also grants a natural poison resistance which is 20% of the player's poisoning skill"
But that's fair enough I'm planning on curing poison with pots, I think though that taking off anatomy would be quite a big hit on both healing and damage output and i'm not quite sure about how effective it will turn out..
I guess it would work if i coudl patch it with chiv's heal, but atm i'm not sure i can find proper equipment to support it (keep in mind i'm looking for a pvp template)

If you'd have to chose between having 60-70points in chiv or in bushido (for pvp) what would you do?
In the meanwhile i'll look into sw as i really don't know how it works, i don't even know if it requires sc (i guess so) and what the spells do

    Spellweaving dosent require spellchanneling.
chiv or bush ? hard choice, think i'll go for chiv. For nervstrike to make any decent dammage you need 120 bushido anyway.

If you wanna play alittle with sw, do the quest, it takes 30min or so.
Call in a few friends and get an unskilled circle at level 3++.
And go out and have some fun with attentude and renew.

On another poisoning-related issue, would 80 poisoning be enough? I mean 80% chance to upgrade the level of poison sounds good to me, but you wouldn't be able to dp the blade without 100 skill points would you? Is using greater poison good enough? That'd be easy to cure though.

I just don't like the idea of chiv too much because i lack the proper equip and mana as well

On the other side, i've noticed that the rank1 faction artifacts i was planning on using have all ridiculously low poison resist, and the HH itself has only 1%, which would make impossible to cap poison resistance unless i get a vile or i'll sacrifice either fey leggings or stormgrip, which sucks anyway xD

    Thats alot of IF's :)
You can apply dp with 80 poisoning just fine. Wether 80% chance for upgrade is good enough, is up to you alone to decide.
I tried to explain why chiv can be handy, a few posts ago.
I never really liked the HH, i do know that the faction spirit of totem has very nice resist, and i would choose it over HH any day, unless i really really needed those +20 points.
Im pretty sure the faction HH, has different resist than the "normal" one.

Yes yes I know i did get your point on chiv, i'm just figuring out things. I think that if 80 poisoning its good enough to dp weapon in the run 80% chance of upgrade will do the trick. Now I think i'll just go and try spellweaving and see how i like it and I might try out your build. I get quite a lot of wresle mages on my server so i don't like the idea of 90 archery that's why i was also looking at the HH even though I know there's better options out there.

Well, thanks a lot, you've been very helpful, i think now i only have to go and try out a bit of everything!
