Why is it that every pvp thread is merged into that one. I mean before anyone says or does anything wrong. Its really not right to hinder one persons playstyle because it is not your own. I understand locking threads that come to personal insults and whatnot but for all the pvp topics to be forced into one thread is somewhat unfair.

    You shouldn't have to ask.

It's because people it's the people that don't PvP that are doing this.

    Why?

Ultimately it's because they are bad players. I don't classify a bad player as somebody that does not PvP by choice. I classify a bad player as somebody that is unable to adapt to every facet of the game as a result of inexperience.

It is bitterness in their attitude to say that if there are multiple threads open related to different rivalries or subjects that they have any obligation to participate or even click on to those threads.

This is the bitterness that began to slowly destroy a wonderful game 9 years ago.

Because the general nature of PvP threads violates the ROC starting with rule A. Show respect at all times. So rather than completely not allowing them we had decided it better to just allow them in one place and as long as they stay in that one place we would ignore some stretching of the rules such as rule A.

It's not about play style, it about posting style.

It is entirely about playstyle. It's simple if I see you and you are not in my guild, I am going to kill you. In Trammel I can't do this. So if you don't want to participate, stay in Trammel. By staying in Trammel you are showing an inability to adapt to different playstyles. Then you're done. Don't participate in PvP threads any more. It is simple.

You're a trammy Michael Wolf. By calling you a trammy I mean no disrespect in any fashion. If I called you trash - that would be disrespectful. I am simply putting you into your category by calling you a trammy. You are such a trammy that you're an instant kill. If you want to prove me wrong, let's fight. Otherwise, accept the fact that you're a trammy and take no offense.

I know the last paragraph annoyed you because you are a trammy, but there is something you can do about it. Adapt. You may choose now to say that I have disrespected you however that is not the case. The choice is yours whether or not you want to participate or avoid the situation by not clicking onto PvP threads and staying in Trammel.

A forum is supposed to be a place for people to express opinion without bias moderation. By eliminating diversity in any population you are eliminating the community factor, and suddenly it is uniform. You are shaping the population into what you want it to be - not the reality of what it really is. For years I have refused to call Stratics a community or a mirror of the Ultima Online community any more.

In the game there is no moderation or handholding. If there is moderation it is very little. Why should the boards be any different?

The "respect" rule is violated when people direct personal attacks. A personal attack is often vulgar or directed to harm somebody's feelings as an individual but not as a player. What is PvP without slighting somebody as a player?

Calling somebody a trammy, or a newbie is not a vulgar remark. It fits entirely into the context of the game. It puts people into their place. And in the context of player versus player combat, the strongest don't always win. They often do. But I see dread mares win for trammies a lot.

My simply opinion - not advice - is to let PvP threads go all they want, and eliminate only the vulgar personal attacks that are irrelevant to the game and the events that take place.

AS Michael said very well (thanks btw) PvP threads do tend to get a bit more personal and fringe or teeter on that fine line of the RoC. It has nothing to do with PvPers vs non PvPers it's simply to give the nature of the beast a better place to grow. Other option is, I lock it and don't allow any discussion, and thats just not my style so, let's move forward shall we.

Oriana, I'm better than you and probably better than your whole guild. No disrespect I am just stating an opinion. I'm sure you're an awesome person but I really don't care about you as a person. I am more concerned about destroying your character in the game. Please don't take this as a violation of the RoC because CLEARLY these types of remarks need to be distinguished for this forum to have any credibility. Otherwise I have no interest in contributing.

Alister I hope you know you post made absolutely no sense to me. AS a moderator I could care less who can beat who. I simply want it kept where it belongs. When I said lock it, I meant the PvP forum not this thread. Not my style as a mod (nothing to do with the game).

    K good well

I was just making a point.

That I feel there is so little against the RoC in the PvP threads that get locked. I don't think there is anything wrong with pointing out other PLAYER weaknesses. It creates the best types of rivalries.

I think all threads should get the green light until somebody starts blatantly personally attacking another individual (non-game remarks). Even then why lock a great thread? Just edit/remove said content and give those individuals warnings.

That's just what I think. I am not trying to be a smartass here, that happens naturally. I would just love to see the boards improve and have more people gain interest in coming here to post.

We are all here because we play this game and if your interest is to craft and my interest is to PvP so be it. I'll make a thread about killing 'R' 3 against 9 in Despise, you make a thread about crafting. We leave each other alone and everyone but 'R' is happy.

The only pvp threads I've locked are the long ones. I did make a comment about the last one as a reminder that it was getting out of hand. After a post gets so long it gets hard to manage.

Anyway I think this discussion has been discussed to it fullest and we just need to move on.
