Ok...so here is my basic question. I think tonight I may have finally gotten a good educated answer to my eternal question. Regardless of if you like the reptalon or not is not important. Anyone can learn from the answer I hope to recieve.

First let me start with I've gotten a lot of my stats from: http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php"]http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php"]http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php and what I did not realize is that Wrestling Skill and maybe (tell me if I'm wrong here) Tactics Skill on a pet is determined upon when the creature spawns. So, can never go above a set amount, and never above the max value. For instance...for a Reptalon to have the max value of Wrestling Skill of: 120.00 it has to have a value rating of: 134.0 when wild. This is how I understand it to work. Can anyone verify? And if this is true...does anyone know the max value of the Tactics Skill when wild for a reptalon to be able to be trained up to 110.0 Tactics Skill?

This may sound like a complex question, but I did not realize that there were set values (aside from hit points) that limited a pets max rating of a set skill upon born (spawned).

I have been busting my tail for over 9 months to get my reptalons wrestling skill above 105.2 every other skill is either maxed or at least gets gains. I was just told tonight by a good source that a critter's wrestling skill maximum value is determined at birth, and of course can never exceed the maximum value cap.

According to: http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php"]http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php"]http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php my reptalon has a "pet power rating" of 3.

    My reptalons skills: HP: 496/500 & Str/Dex/Int: 505,125,290
    Wrestling: 105.2/120.0
    Tactics: 100.0/110.0
    Resist: 78.5/100.0
    Anatomy: 97.8/100.0

Bob, short answer is yes. Whatever a pet is born with pre-tame, their skills will never go above a certain percentage of that once tamed and fully trained. If the pet is below GM pre-tame, they won't go above GM after. The old tamer's forum had the formulas but I just don't remember them off hand. I do know that's how I judged the Greater Dragons when I was looking for one.

Something happens with the stats too (half or some such if above 125) but it's late and darned if I remember.

Anne is correct except when it pertains to greater dragons.

All pets may be trained to GM if post-taming skills are below GM.
If post-taming skills are above GM that new number is their new cap.

Greater dragons can be trained over GM in Wrestle and Tactics (and resist I think) but not over what they were "born" with.

As long as Master Tamers will be replying to this thread I have a related question. Are the stats of a tamed pet set in stone on birth or when it is tamed? To be more precise, can wild pets be trained before being tamed? Suppose a future pet gets a lot of practice BEFORE it is tamed, could one then tame out a maxed out pre tamed pet in order to get the best possible pet?

    Hope all are well.

AnneNomilly, Flutter and Jerimiah thank you for the feedback. Jerimiah, that is an interesting point. As to max stats I'm not sure how much they can be raised (up to the cap of corse) I'm pretty sure that the animials stats do go up, as I used to train my cows when I was raising my vet skill by having one cow attack like 7 or 8 other cows at a time. The cows mine was fighting would become much stronger than a "fresh" one that I would start on after I killed the mob.

Ok, here is what I was told... I was told that a reptalons stats cap drop 10% upon being tamed. Add to that -28% drop so...um. Maybe 38% less in a stat when wild? Anyone following this thread, can you verify?

So, in theory...um a Reptalon with max hp, max wrestling and tactics skill level would have to be 1,000 hit points, 134 wrestling when wild for it to be a possible max cap possiblilty (not including resists). If this math is correct can any tell me what its tactics should be when wild for it to have a chance of getting to 110.0 tactics when fully trained?

I'm sure this sounds complicated, but its not really. Basically when wild what does a reptalons hp, wrestling and tactics have to be in order for it to reach highest stats (not including resists).

A reptalons stat cap in hit points, wrestling, and tactics (once tamed) are: 500, 120.0, 110.0 at least thats according to: http://www.uocraft.com/calc_pets.php .

Thank you for you attention. :gee:

    Yes they can!

Yes, although once a creature is at it's max skill cap it wont gain anymore.

You misunderstood the guiadance given about the statloss. Upon taming it will lose 10% off its wild skill making that the new cap. For example 134 wrestling will now be capped at 120 wrestling. The 28% mentioned is the initial skill loss a greater dreagon suffers from its wild stats. So a Greater dragon with the same 134 wrestling skill pre tame will drop to 96 wrestle but still be trainable to its new cap of 120.

The original numbers to use for a post tame greater dragon is to multiply its initial post tame stats by 1.25 to get its new cap total. :gee:

Ahhh. I see. Ok...so then... with a max tatics cap of 110.0 then I'd have to add 10% to 110.0 to get the wild value in tatics to see the value of a max-cap reptalon. Hmmm. I suck at math. heh. Thank you for responding RobertPenDragon.
