I have a couple of items that are blessed with Personal Bless Deeds that are not mine. Is there any way to have the PBD blessing removed from the item so that I can use my own PBD on it?

That would work great if it was my PBD. Alas, it is not my PBD we are talking about. These are items found at IDOC's and other places.

Even then good luck. I had a PBD on a char go bugged. GM wouldn't even remove it for the character it was for.

if it's an Armor of Fortune Blessed for Mouse I'll buy it from you for 20 mill... mine was stolen last year when my account was breached.

Oh I have a side question. Lets say you have "a personal bless deed for ..." Could you rename yourself to whatever the bless deed says and have it work for you since name would be matching then or is it account bound?

Nope - it is actually tied to a character ID (something we do not see, but is present internally to the game). All of your character slots on any shard could all have the same name, but they are all issues a unique identifier in the database.

I wish they would use these unique identifiers when it comes to macros. I made two chars back in 2000 when I first started playing that used the same name and they both share the same macros unfortunately. Thanks for the info.

It is not an AOF, it is an Ornament of the Magician.

True it is account bound. However, if you use a name change token the PBD will change names to the new name. At least it did way back when I changed the names of some of my characters. I think you had to have the deed in your pack when you changed names and not have it on an item.

Anyway, maybe one day when I have nothing else to do I'll try and page a GM to come remove the PBD on it. I remember one time I paged a GM 5 different times until I got one that was nice enough to help. (Her name was GM Sparkle or something and she was very cool.)

    Thanks for all the info!

it was my understanding( from some posts by devs a long while ago) that gm's would not remove a pbd or were not supposed to.(not 100% certain of this as it was a long time ago and my memory may be abit faulty)

Macros are saved client side not server side, that is probably why.

When PBDs were being used a bunch was around the time that there was a trade window scam that would get an item dropped to the ground. So scammers would end up with a lot of nice items with the PBDs attached. Since GMs no longer deal with scammers the outraged player would page a GM and the end result would be that the GM would show up, get the scammed item from the scammer, give it to the player and ask them to remove the PBD. The player would comply, then the GM would take the item and return it to the scammer. This was the extent of what they could do. Poor GMs, they probably got a lot of bad reviews from this directive.

Anyways, I assume it meant the GM could not actually remove the PBD themselves. Possibly they could remove the status effect that the PBD imparts on the object, but that would not give them the actual PBD. Which means by doing that the PBD is in effect destroyed, and if whoever it belonged to is still playing...well yeah. They're out a PBD. If someone scammed or stole someone's account and got their PBD it is probably a small comfort to that player to know that their PBD is out there still, somewhere. Better that small chance of recovery than none at all?

I had an issue with a PBD on a character that I transferred to Origin. When I got here I wanted to remove the PBD from a piece of Armor and put it on my swords of prosperity, but when i clicked it, it gave me the message "that is not your bless deed" or something like that. I had to page twice because the first gm that showed up simply said "I can't remove a bless deed from an item you found" and he disappeared. so I paged again this time being very specific about the situation and the same gm came back and removed it.

so I am guessing that unless you get lucky or they have changed their stand on this, they won't remove the deeds.

This is correct. The macros are stored on your individual computer not in the "great server cluster in the sky." This is why you have to import remake your macros when you reinstall or install on a new computer.

Yes this is still true, the ID associated with that name is changed in the database on the server side. Although I have heard of this getting buggered up from time-to-time.

It works like a Social Security number in the states... You get married or change your legal name your SS number does not change just the name associated with it.

GMs can not remove a PBD period. Been there, done that, got the canned spam message from the GM. Here's a direct quote from EA's knowledge base on the subject:

Sorry to rain on your parade but thats how it is. BTW, if you try to use the item and you insure it ..there a nasty little bug that makes the item go POOF!
I had a Orny with some other dude's PDB on it and it went poof.

That's my 2 gps on the subject.
