I want to get rid of some of the refinement components that are cluttering up my houses. Last year, the few people who were actually trying to sell these indicated they were selling fully-finished refinement components. However, because of the introduction of the refinement amalgamator items in the cleanup system which only aggregate unfinished refinement components, I'm thinking it may be better to just sell the unfinished refinement components so someone else who is trying to fill up one of their amalgamators might buy the unfinished components I'm selling.

Is anyone selling stacks of the unfinished components that have been dumped out of an amalgamator? (I haven't tried using one yet because I don't think I have enough of anything yet to make it worthwhile, so I'm not even sure what a stack from an amalgamator looks like!)

So, what's everyone doing these days and also would you mind sharing how you're pricing these? Cdavbar indicated back in April he was auctioning the Invulnerability level refinements and was selling the others in finished form. He was selling the finished refinements for approximately 25k/50k/75k/100k for Defense/Protection/Hardened/Fortified, with lower prices for the less popular types of armor. http://stratics.com/community/threa...adsheet-posted-on-google.298588/#post-2267802

    Thanks!

If you don't want to have a headache all the time, just dump all your components in the trash for points.

Hehe. I just might end up doing that, because I just can't see myself ever using these at this point. However, I was kind of hopeful that maybe with vendor search activated it might be worth attempting to sell them.

I sell fully finished invulnerable refinements only. I have a bunch of almagamators but you only really need one unless you make a mess of things, as once the refinements are added you can't take them out until the requisite number has been reached. (eg 3 Gorilla Banana armour of protection, 4 hardening, 5 fortification).

I'm currently digging up maps feverishly trying to replenish my stock. (sinking merchants or pirates can get you up to 6 at a time too)

    So prices

    Platemail: Reinforced 500k. Deflecting 400k
Garg Platemail: Reinforced 300k Deflecting 200k
Garg Stone: Reinforced 300k Deflecting 200k
    Woodland: Reinforced 500k Deflecting 400k
Studded Samurai: Reinforced 400k Deflecting 300k
Studded Leather: Reinforced 500k Deflecting 400k
    Hide: Reinforced 500k Deflecting 400k

Haven't sold any of the others (chain, bone etc) but would probably price them at the same as the garg stuff.

Those sound like very reasonable prices to me, considering how hard it is to gather all the refinements. I would definitely not throw away the raw refinements; I've been scrambling for weeks trying to collect some of them, and I can't imagine there not being a market for them.)

    Defense
    Hardening
    Fortification

Those are the ones i like to use. the main thing i hate about refinements is the random chance of the additional property its just too risky. trash the junk armor ones its just not worth the time. i have refined: woodland, plate, studded, samurai, stone, bone. once in a while i use gargish plate.

ive paid as low as 2k, and as high as 5mil for ones i need. the problem is finding them. i have a bag with about 60 and never seem to have the one i need.

Off topic, but the Gorilla Banana was a dot matrix printer I haven't thought of in a long, long time.

Your prices are pretty good, but with the horrible RNG luck some of us have in getting the fifth mod, it would still take me several tens of millions to refine a suit fully. That's why I haven't bothered with refinements in months.

Thank you so much for the information! How many components do you have to dump in the amalgamator to be able to empty it? (I think it's 10, but I'm not sure.) Also, what does a stack of components from an amalgamator look like? And when you go to "finish" those stacked components, does the finishing process finish everything in the stack all at once and break them back into individual finished components? I'm pretty confused at this point but am pretty sure that I don't have enough of any raw refinement components (the looted type, not the stuff purchased from the NPCs) to fill any amalgamators unless I start copying stuff from several shards to TC on various characters to mess around with it.

Also, which shard are you selling these on? It sounds like you're selling them pretty quickly.

Okay an amalgamator works like this. 2 Defence components combined will give you a Protection. When you double click the amalgamator and add a Defence component the blue part of the amalgamator (water?) will turn orange. If you add a second Defence, the amalgamator will produce a Protection refinement and it pops straight into your pack.
However, if you discover you don't have a second Defence refinement to match the first, (eg Polish of Defence, Ringmail, Deflecting) then the first is stuck in the amalgamator with no way to empty it back out until the addition of a second identical refinement. This causes some chagrin amongst the crafting playerbase.
So basically, you only use the amalgamator when you have the desired amount of reifnement components.
These are: 2 Defence will give 1 Protection. 3 Protection will give 1 Hardening. 4 Hardening will give 1 Fortification. 5 Fortification will give 1 Invulernability.

Only when you are finsihed combining do you visit the refinement NPCs, to 'finish' the refinement. Don't go to the npcs until you are done messing with the amalgamator as 'fnished' pieces can't be put into it.

I'm on Drachenfels, haven't had too many to sell but all went at prices listed fairly quickly. Except one Woodland Reinforced invul which has sat there for weeks and probably stopped me from going out and getting more.
Hope above makes some sense. I am between two nightshifts and my brain is custard.

Hen, thank you so much for the explanation! I don't know why I had it in my head that the amalgamator stacked the components. This makes a lot more sense.

It seems to me that if you wanted to have an amalgamator basket for every possible type of combination to maximize your ability to combine them, you would need 8 baskets each (two each for the Fortification, Hardening, Protection, and Defense-level components, with one of each pair for the Reinforcing components and one for the Deflecting components ) for each of the following 12 types of armor (96 baskets total, at 10k points each from the cleanup system):

    CARPENTRY
    Woodland Armor
    Gargish Stone Armor

    BLACKSMITHING
    Ringmail Armor
    Chainmail Armor
    Platemail Armor
    Gargish Platemail Armor
    Samurai Platemail Armor
    Dragon Armor

    TAILORING
    Hide Armor
    Studded Leather Armor
    Studded Samurai Armor
    Bone Armor

Like you said, though, you could get by with a lot fewer amalgamator baskets if you wanted to. I'm just trying to visualize how you could set things up in your house to keep things efficient/tidy.

Your original post said you're only selling finished invulnerability-level components. Have you ever been asked to sell lower-level components to someone who didn't want to affect 4 or 5 resist caps? And have you noticed whether there's more demand for the reinforcing components (which raise individual resist caps while decreasing max DCI) or for the deflecting components (which decrease individual resist caps while increasing max DCI)?

    It is simple!
Sell me all the plate and studded ones! I will buy all of them, everytime!

I have 23 amalgamators clustered on my keep roof with two chests in front of them. (I had 24 but I forgot to lock it back down after use)
They need to be in your backpack for them to work, so you don't need them lying around the way I have them.
In the chests I keep bags with each bag dedicated to an armour type.
You could get by with just one almagamator but you would have to be more careful than I am when combining refinements.

Nobody has asked me to sell lower refinements but that doesn't mean they wouldn't sell. If you sell the low-end ones I would advise against finishing them at the npcs. That way people can combine them up if they want to. With invuls they can't get any higher so I finish them off just to give that extra bit of customer service.
If you do sell low-end refinements it will have a knock on effect on your supply of high end ones. I find they don't take up too much house space as combining keeps the numbers down.
I don't know if Reinforced is actually worth more than Deflecting, that's just my personal preference.
