    1. Is this practice legal? (Refence here isn't to blocking monsters, but blocking players at, say, a Harrower or a Faction stronghold. There is no pathway, which was the rule as of a few years ago anyway.)

    2. How exactly does one place 50+ candelabras on the same tile?

    1. last time I paged about that situation, it seemed that , it depended on who you asked at that moment. (that time, it was legal, if there was at least a single path thru the obstructions)

    2. load a box up, drop it on the ground and break with an Axe.

The rule in the past was that you had to leave a path. The exception was that you didn't have to leave a path in a faction base.

However, most GM's don't know this distinction and will just delete the candelabras - if you can get one to appear.

They are right faction bases u can do whatever you want. As for anywhere else u have to leave a path.

Or you can go to some website that allows you to mod your client and walk through boxes soulstones and candleabras. Thats another story altogether that will never get looked at.

Gale, there is no way breaking a box is an exploit. It's an intended game mechanic. A bunch of candelabras could just as easily be stacked or used to create vast fields of them. often it's just better that they're in a few spots.

They must leave some path. however, there are a lot of loopholes in that as those paths can be entirely different ways in.

According to the GMs on EU it is legal to completely block everything in faction gameplay:

You can place 500 candelabras at a base blocking off all possible passageways (which we did and paged a GM on ourselves).

Though I've stories about GMs claiming different.. But here's the screenshot. Rikaun said it's legal. I triple checked it with him (don't want to endanger my accounts!) and showed him what we had done. He said it was all perfectly fine. I welcome anyone to show a current GM stating different (screenshots are always nice!).

Do note that he specifically says 'faction game play', it's illegal to block monsters etc.

Can't block monsters without really cheating except in maybe a house. Monsters will smash things in their way. I had a friend who while decorating a house lost a potted plant on the second floor that she was in the middle of locking down because an ogre on the first floor was aggressive toward her. However, this change was put in place mostly to prevent the flour bag monster fighting of old.

There was a situation on Siege a while back where I paged on a guy for doing this, as I believed over the years that it was illegal. The guy was taken off to jail, but apparently for placing turrets instead of completely blocking the entrance to his faction base.

I even posted the question here and the overwhelming response is that it is legal to 100% block movement inside a faction base, but not elsewhere. I'm not saying I agree that it should be legal. Personally, I think its kinda lame, but in a game where cheating is rampant and we have players that will unquestionably resort to those tactics, you might as well utilize the tactics that have been deemed legal, lame or not.

Whats funny is that the guy I paged on for doing it.. The same guy who swore up and down that it was legal game play... The same guy who gloated that he was right and that it is indeed legal game play, now cries when my faction members utilize the tactic. hehe

ive got screen shots of GMs standing in front of a totally sealed off faction base and them saying its perfectlly legal.

but then i had heard rumblings that there had been a change a couple months ago.
and then vender walls and guard turrets started getting deleted.

but then 2 days ago a faction i was fighting sealed off minax base with THOUSANDS of candles.
looked to be 4 or 5 boxes of 120 stacked then axed.
and they did that all the way down the passage.

    so i paged.
    14 times.
sat there for 3 hours (cause i had to get out!)
    and GMs did nothing.

so........ venders and guard turreting are NOW bad, but candle walls by the thousands GOOD.

again..... one rulebook PUBLICALLY DISPLAYED would be real nice.
    like really.
hows a fella to know whats ok and whats not anymore?

The consensus is that this is legal in Factions.

    *sighs* Oh well.

    Thanks everyone who replied.

    No.

But let me explain what I meant.

A good 80% of you stopped when I said "No" I think.

But for the remainder, let me explain....

What I meant was: When I hear about something that involves breaking a crate, thus exposing the contents of that crate and allowing you to do something you wouldn't normally be able to do? Like place innumerable candlesticks or whatever on the same tile?

A good 9 times out of 10 it's considered an exploit.

Whether or not that particular technique is an exploit, I'm honestly still divided on.

However, the consensus seems to be that, in general, the blocking of Faction strongholds is still legal.

So let's just say that I'm not above playing dirty myself, and leave it at that.

    Thanks to all who replied.

Oh one thing I forgot to mention is that the GM did note that blocking with vendors is illegal. With vendors you do need to leave 1 passageway.

well of course, cause that makes all kinds of scence.
you can actually PUSH through a vender if its blocking you, but you cant push through a candle wall.

    ya.

    makes scence.
