Race and stats for typical sampire?

I'm curious to know how much str/dex/int people are running with their sampire builds. Also I'd like to know what race people usually use.

    Elf is the best choice.

I can't remember exactly what my stats are at, but here's the ones I care about.

    148 Hit Points
    168 Stamina
    94 Mana

In some occasions you might desire more than 168 Stamina. Stamina counts in blocks of 30 in the way that it adds to your swing speed. Thus 180 stamina might give you a higher speed than 168. During battle you will almost always lose some stamina, so if your weaponry and armour will require 180 stamina, you might often have less than 180 stamina available during battle. Potions can help you there, though. The Knuckleheads' website helps you with their SSI calculator:
    SSI Calc - Knuckleheads.dk
In my personal experience having more than 180 stamina will be difficult to achieve. Difficult and expensive.

Not if you use a leafblade, which is my preferred weapon of choice. Can't beat AI and Feint.

Unless you're using a heavy hitting, slow weapon.. anything over 150 is wasted.

    Str 147
    Dex 150
    Int 41

I should add that's after a petal and greater Str potion.

Well, the leafblade is not the slowest weapon. A Soulglaive (while uncommon for sampires) should require a lot more stamina and additional Swing Speed Increase for decent speed. Speaking of leafblades: Anything over 150 Stamina is wasted? Hm, even though I usually leech back stamina swiftly with my weapons, there will often be seconds when I will be below my maximum stamina - and in PvM I won't always want to eat a green apple against curses that lower your stamina. In these cases a maximum number of e.g. your 168 stamina will more easily keep you above the minimum of 150 stamina for full swing speed.

Now let's talk about the bare minimum of 150 stamina for leafblades:
According to UOGuide leafblades come with a speed of 2.75: Leafblade - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia
According to the Knuckleheads' SSI calculator you will need 180 stamina for full swing speed (i.e. 1.25 ticks): SSI Calc - Knuckleheads.dk
UOGuide's SSI calculator calculates the same: Swing Speed Increase - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia

I am not saying you are plain wrong with what you are doing. I can imagine that you actually do a lot better in game against champions and peerless than I do. I hardly play my sampire anyway. All I say is that using the calculators I think if you aim for full speed you may want more than 150 stamina. My personal couteraction is a base of slightly more than 150 stamina, but less than 180. In addition I use potions if needed and I wear the animated tinker leggings which add 10% Swing Speed Increase. I should never swing slower than the maximum of 1.25 with this setup (and you probably won't either with your setup! :)

Not sure why you're giving me some noobie level UO lesson, that I clearly don't need. But for the record, I run 20% SSI on my leafblades and you have to drop below 120 stamina to stop swinging at max. So yeah 150 would be fine and the only reason I'm at 168 is because I added SI after I hit the HPI cap. Otherwise I would rather have continued to add HPI and would have been fine at 150, although sometimes I do run without resist on that char and a curse does hurt.

You are not the only one that reads this forum, Driven Insane. And up to now you had never mentioned your 20% SSI before. Like I said I was already very positive that your setup allows you to always swing at cap, but you had not mentioned your 20% SSI. I was expecting you to have either that, or those tinker leggings or an SSI ring or something - anything, that you had just not mentioned.

While I was responding to your post, you should be well aware that there are "newbies" and newly learning returners that would need these lessons that you don't need. While you may in no way be a newbie, there's nothing wrong with being a newbie, anyway.

Is that more clear to you now, Driven Insane?

    1. Nowhere in the thread did anyone ask for my weapon and armor specs. Thus the reason I never mentioned it. I simply answer the questions as they were asked of me.

    2. If your UO lessons were not directed at me then why are all your follow up posts based around my weapon or my stamina? Wouldn't it have been better to ask the OP what they planned to use instead of trying to tear my set up apart, when clearly I'm not in need of your opinion on the subject as I in no way asked for it.

I have no idea what your intention is here, Driven Insane. My intention is to "teach" returners and new players that don't have the "big picture" yet and will benefit from the information that 2.75 base speed plus 150 Stamina is not enough. Noone asked you about SSI on your weapons? You are right, but your personal weaponry is not my concern. My concern is that the omitted information gets communicated.

I am sorry that you thought I was only addressing you. But this is an open forum: while I might have sounded like I replied to you, I made sure it is publicly visible. Otherwise I would have PMed you.

To conclude, neither your weapons, nor your other gear, nor your person is of my personal concern. Instead my concern is that noone gets the false picture that 150 stamina alone is enough for full swing speed with a leafblade. I did not say that you intentionally omitted missing information. I just thought that someone new to this topic might get a false picture. UO's weaponry and armour calculations can be quite confusing and quite overwhelming to new players and to returners!

As far as your gear is concerned:
I did not mean to "tear" your beautiful armour apart. I bet it's one of the best in game and sufficient for everything and anything. And I am sure you know everything about weapons, armour and swing speed. You should not mistake public (!) "lessons" as personal attacks. If you are a roleplayer: Think of it as "roleplaying two teachers" (i.e. you and me). By replying to your highly valued explanations I made sure that our very beginners don't miss important information. Really, there is no reason for you to feel attacked and I kindly ask you to take the heat out of this discussion as it seems utterly unnecessary to me.

This might be a language issue, too. I am not a native speaker to begin with. To narrow it down, I am used to take advantage of previous posts in a thread and reply to them to make the discussion appear more lively. I wanted to add some more information to what you said so it will be easier for others to get "the full picture" on how to achieve full swing speed.

for me its got to be an elf, and as for stats and stuff I recently made a pretty kick azz sampire suit.

Arities I am using are Mace and Shields, Animated legs of the insane tinker, crimson cinc, conj garb, quiver of infinity and primer on arms and damage removal and fire resist boots (boooo)and corguls sash.

I crafted 4 final pieces, i tried and tried for perfect resists but after many hours crafting I had to settle as I got lazy . my final suit with the fire boots gives me the following:

    150 str / 150 dex / 10 int (without pots)

    150hp / 183 stm / 63 mana

    45 DCI
    45 HCI

    100% damage increase without wep.

    30 Hit lower D

    70 phs
    70 fire (69 without boots)
    70 cold
    70 pois
    72 energy

    10%ssi on suit

for a full breakdown of mods head to the crafters forum and check out my post called (getting the most out of platem)

Basically for me this is an insane set up. the extra 10SSI on the suit is cool as I get more room for mods on wep, high stam/hp and mana is always fun. I have not had any issue with mana as I do a ton of damage so leeching isnt and issue! just make sure that I carry the right tools for the job (i.e slayer wep with "slayer" Hit mana leech, hit stam leech and hit spell ( also a little SSI for slower weps) if i am making a wep for specific monsters that are weak to an elemental resist I will take the time to craft a 100% elemental damage wep to save on having to cast cons wep. Also never having to worry about chugging pots is nice, not saying i got the best suit out there and to be fair I "borrowed" the suit set up from Thunderz, I will be tweaking it here and there to get it exactly as I want it but I imagine I would have a hard time besting it atm.

Are these the stats when in vamp form? Don't forget -25 fire when in vampire form.
