Does anybody know what the current regen caps are, and whether or not the additional regen from the Bard Mastery stacks on top of the item regen cap? Any official documentation on this?

I have a char with maxed out MR, and I cant really see a different when I cast the bard mastery and get the +22 MR, but all I can do is eyeball it since there are no in-game indicators of actual regen rates.

There seems to be very little reliable information out there; even on UO Guide the Manage regen page lists three different caps for MR from items (18, 30, and 31). And it says nothing about stacking from bard mastery.

I would love to get some input from a dev on this... I would love even more for them to put a section on that stat bar that accurately reflects your regen rates according to your equipment, skill, and forms/spells.

theres no hard cap on mana regen, it has diminishing returns. after around 16-18 the benefits additional mr points is very low. thats why most people say its "capped at 18" its not really capped, but thats all thats worth having. then you have what actually available thru gear. its in the 30s i want to say around 35.

i dont think bard mastery stacks with mr from items. take off all your mr gear and just use the mastery. if your mr seems about the same both ways then you can be sure it doesnt stack.

Mana Regeration from items is capped at 30. This was in some dev post. Bard regent / racial and a bunch of other stuff should all stack. HP regeneration is capped at 18 in just items and I don't think stamina regeneration has an item cap. To test it simple drain your mana and stopwatch time how much time it takes to regeneration say 100 mana.lo

Thanks guy. Part of the problem here is that nobody seems to know for sure; some think its 30 some think there is no cap, just diminishing returns... but even the diminishing returns system is clouded in mystery. I really wish there was more transparency here. This is why we need something built into the game that reflects what our active REAL mana, HP, and stam regen is at any given time (taking into account skill, items, and spells). This would also allow us to report if it was not working as intended. As is, the mana regen rate could be intended to be one rate, but it may be bugged and performing at half that and nobody would know.

There is no cap on MR, it is covered by diminishing returns. Once you get over 30 you basically don't gain much if any but you do still gain. And it dosnt matter what you stack on it, lich form, bare mastery and the such. So if your running a pure bard and getting +22 MR from the mastery then you only need 8 on your suit and your topped out. As for HPR it is ITEM capped at 18 but you can then add on stuff after that. So say you have 18 on your suit then another 22 from the bard mastery than another 40 from ninja form you will be at 80 HPR, and that does work cause I've tested it and even posted videos to YouTube testing it.

And those numbers have been confirmed over the years from the devs.

If I wast on holidays on my iPad I'd pull up some of the posts for ya.

    Not Quite.......

    SOURCE:
    http://stratics.com/community/threads/mana-regen-formula.170563/\

BOLD Part..... Square Root of 30 = 5.47... and the number is capped at 5.5 So you don't even get the FULL benefit of increasing from 30 to 31 mana though you do get some very small increase.. I'd personally say 30 MR on items is the cap because the formula truncates your benefits for 31 MR on items...

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    This one's a bit involved:

1> Base Mana Regen Rate is 0.2 mana per second
2> Focus Bonus is Focus / 200 mana per second
    3A> Let Meditation Bonus be 0.0075 * Meditation Skill + 0.0025 * Intelligence Attribute
3B> If your Meditation Skill is GM or above, multiple Meditation Bonus by 1.1
3C> If you are actively meditating, multiply Meditation Bonus by 2
    4A> Let Base Item Bonus be (Meditation Skill / 2 + Focus Skill / 4) / 90
4B> Multiply Base Item Bonus by 0.65, then add 2.35
4C> Let Intensity Bonus be the square root of the sum of your Mana Regen intensities, capped at 5.5 (30 total intensity).
4D> Let Final Item Bonus be ((Base Item Bonus * Intensity Bonus) - (Base Item Bonus - 1)) / 10. This is mana per second.
5> Add the Base Mana Regen Rate, Focus Bonus, and Item Bonus. Add your Meditation Bonus only if you're not wearing non-meddable armor. The result is your total mana regeneration per second.

    Here is an example:

120 Med, 100 Focus, 110 Int, +25 Mana Regen from Items, wearing meddable armor.

    Base is 0.2
    Focus Bonus is 0.5
Med Bonus is 0.9 from Skill + 0.275 from Int, multiplied by 1.1 from > GM Med = 1.2925 (or 2.585 if actively meditating)
    Base Item Bonus is 2.35 + 0.65 * (85 / 90) = 2.964
Intensity Bonus is the square root of 25 = 5
    Item Bonus is ((5 * 2.964) - (2.964 - 1)) / 10 = 1.2856

So my total regen rates are:
    1> Meddable armor, not meditating: 0.2 + 0.5 + 1.2925 + 1.2856 = 3.2781 per second
    2> Meddable armor, meditating: 0.2 + 0.5 + 2.585 + 1.2856 = 4.5706
    3> Non-meddable armor: 0.2 + 0.5 + 1.2856 = 1.9856

(Hopefully I didn't mess up the number crunching here)

I have gotten to hp regen 78 on my 120 ninja in dog form with the peace buffs. My bard wears a mr34 suit with 120 focus, 95 med and I can run maintain both provoke bard buffs with a group of 9. I have done real world testing just taking off the mr4 shield(to use healing stone and pots) and it makes me very slowly lose mana for a group of 9.

I doubt it. A dev posted the info I listed. Perhaps that shield has Intelligence increase 9 it which also factors into total mana regen up to the 150 stat cap.

So I say you gain but such a little amount it's not noticeable.
You say no im wrong, then say you do get some but very small increase........

So are we not saying the same thing?

We both say anything past 30 is wasted.

I've been drinking too much, I'll reread this again tomorrow without the ETOH haze and maybe it will make more sense to me.

Hit point regen has a cap of 18, however if you're human you get a natural +2 hit point regen that does stack ontop of the cap.

Yup. I mana vamp'd my Tamer down to 14 mana, and with 32 Mana Regen (not meditating), it took me 53 seconds to go back to 168. When I took off the Corgul Necro spellbook, I was at 29 MR (again, not meditating), and it took me the same amount of time.
