There should be no skill raise and all +Skill Property on items should be removed.

Also for balance and fairness everyone should be allowed to train up to 720.

they can train up to 120... after 4 years, its a bonus that veterans get... in my opinion it should go past 720 and every year you get another 5 skill so 11 yr veterans should have 755

gee thats enuff to encourage any new player to come to the game.

I understand the value of account age, and what it means in UO. But this is making to where for any new player to fully enjoy the game they'lll have to find an 4+yr old account for sale rather then start a fresh new account.

UO is a good game and was at one time one of the tops but it isn't anymore the quality is not as good as the newer games, all around game play , customer service etc etc I can fill a thread with the list. And when you compare prices and what each game offers, UO doesn't offer no where near as much but expect you to pay the same price.

  6. Sorry thats just not gonna work for me. First I don't mind or care if everyone can start with 720 skill points. I'm a vet, I far past that mark long ago, but in the interest of fairness I think everyone reguardless of account age should get 720.

Now the part I disagree with, they already made +skill items available in the game. Everyone has the opportunity to use said skill items. Theres no more of an advantage for me to use +skill jewelry or armor, compared to someone else who decides to use mod jewelry or armor. This is the checks and balances. I might use midnight bracers, true it gives me +20 necro, someone else might use tactical arms and get +12 tactics, and someone else might have awesome barbed armor with high resists, or high mods. Thats how it is. When using skill jewels or armor, you sacrafice the mods, and resists. That shouldn't change, it is fair and equal.

    My two cents...

Cause as it has being mention before 10% new players compared to 90% veteran players comeon. UO wants to keep the veterans cause vets pay the most have the most accounts have invested the most. And UO being around longer than the other games because vet player mean something. New players wont like UO maybe 1 or 2 a years will stay but seriously all others will go because they have not invested time on this game and it's a 11 year old game. Theres no marketing for the game so theres no new players coming in. UO gets the money to keep it running from the vets not from the free trial new players who also play games like WOW where the oldest player playing the game is only a few years in. Where they dont need vet players money to keep going. This is why we have vet rewards, why vets get skill upgrade, Because whiout the vets there will be no UO.

yes they should, if you put the time and devotion in for years then you should benefit

  9. Good point :O that 144 a year but not everything is about money...
Its kindof like rewarding someoen who has experience since they have well experience...

if you've been playing for years and you need the devs to hand you a gift-wrapped advantage over newbs, maybe you'd be better off playing hello kitty online.

pretty sure most long term vets agree with me k thanks, do u honestly think uo gets new customers?

  12. you can buy experiance?? because you can buy a 10 year old account. what if you could only attack someone that was within xxx # of skill points as you or someone with in XXX # of account age of you I only mention this as i dont think its folks that PVM that care but PVPers

  13. I'm okay with everyone having the same skill cap. If its 720, or if its raised. I think thats only fair, and that the old system of catering to vets was wrong.

As it is we still have vet rewards, that still give unfair advantages, like ethy mounts. Although they did release the charger of the fallen, but these days even those are becoming rare or hard to come by for any new players. I think thats another issue they should fix. Like add a charger token to the uo shop, so everyone can buy it, or add them to the library rewards, so newbies can earn one.

I'm just against removal of skill jewelry, or limiting skill jewelry from raising past your skill cap.

you shouldn't base your argument off of assumptions k thanks.

SA is a prime opportunity for uo to get new players, now the devs just need to make an effort, or at the very least not shoot themselves in the foot by listening to you.

  15. It is wow that was fast :|

  16. Seriously you can buy a charger token? If so I never knew that. Cool. Well guess that just leaves skill point equality.

Ah.. Legacy tokens, never knew what those were. Green soulstones, looks like I may need to buy a couple of those for my crafter to add the new gargoyle skills. thx..

  17. Glad to be of help, now if only everyone was helped by me lol :D

    Agreed.
How many other MMO's have you played that catered to vets? Should UO use the slogan "Come play with us for 4-5 years and you can be Elite too!"? With your thinking it would be 11+ years. 755 skill points only to veterans is absolutely hilarious. I'm so glad no one follows your advice. As you can tell this 10 year vet doesn't agree with you. We get veteran reward items. Those are fine. More skill points compared to a new player is stupid. No wonder we hardly get any new players and everyone plays WOW where everyone can compete with everyone regardless of account age.

I'll be sure to suggest to anyone that's new to go shop around for a veteran account after they learn the new account they've been working characters on won't be on the same level for years, maybe buy an upgrade code if it's not up to date, buy UOAassist, and then start paying for gameplay ($13/m for a rarely updated game) which is probably inferior to WOW (never played it). Maybe EA should just pay you each month because you're a veteran!

  19. Agreed lol :D

if a person that never has never played an mmorpg in their life walks into a gamestop and asks an employee which mmo would they recommend, the employee will not say ultima, the graphics of KR (which does not matter to me nor should it matter if someone is looking for good game play) do not look good compared to world of warcraft or other newer mmos. Now if the graphics of KR are not appealing to a new gamer, then surely 2d would not be either. An experienced gamer would know u don't need good graphics to make a good game, but the newer gamers are attracted by the eye candy of good graphics. I plan to go down with the ship for however long uo lasts for but i am interested in playing Darkfall when it comes out which is currently in beta. Also if EA only sells stygian abyss online and not on store shelves, they won't get new people

I reject your assertion that +skill mods give an unfair advantage (because it's baseless). +skill is a mod that anyone can get on some types of items. Sure, not everyone has all the +skill items they would need to build every possible template, but that's no different than any other item-based game. Item diversity is one of the attributes of UO that makes it a good game. You generally can't have everything, but you can use combinations of some attributes to build a truly unique character.

I'm ok with putting a cap to how far over 720 you can go with +skill items, but I think it would be generally damaging to UO to prevent +skill items from letting players go over 720. There are simply too many artifacts that give +skill mods (including a spellbook that was very recently a loot item) to do a nerf across the board.

    And you post this!

  23. I'm not so sure it should even be capped. Everyone has the option to use skill jewely and armor. I think when you choose to use such items, it comes at a cost of other mods, and resists. Thats the balance.

you could also argue that most other properties have a cap, +skill is the exception to the rule.

+skill items have been the dumbest thing put into game since aos. pre aos it was cool the accuracy of the weap amounted to how much +tactics you got (archery for the archer) it was balanced, simple but balanced.

I think we should all get an additional 100 skill points (if they could work the kinks out so people don't exploit it) but veteran rewards are just that, for veterans.

No thanks first of all we can use the extra skill points and i feel jewlery and items that allows us to go beyond the skill cap limit should always remain in the game.
    • Seems to me that just about everyone who is asking to lower the skill limit, for no extra skill points and for extra mods on items not to be able to raise the skill limit is a pvper well most players do not pvp nor do they want to pvp.
The majority of players are not a member of this or any other UO forum so i believe if you polled every single player who plays those wanting the skill cap raise would be in the majority. catoring to only a select few who do not want a skill cap increase is just not right if you ask me.

Sounds good to me that is one way i can accept not being able to beyond the skill cap with extra skill items because even if we get an additional 120 skill points making it 840 we couldn't reach 1200 skill points with extra skill items.
    • If it was up to me no matter how much they raise the skill limit if at all i still would like extra skill items to let us go beyond the skill cap but with 1200 or more skill points i wouldn't complain if skill items could no longer let us go beyond the skill limit anything less then a 1200 skill cap and removal of a skill cap increase with skill enhancing items i would have reason to complain.

Reasons, dude. State your reasons. Don't just make a general statement/opinion without stating your reasons why you think that way.

I can think of dozens of reasons why it makes sense and dozens of reasons why it doesn't. In such a case, I say just leave the game alone. Changing it or not changing it for your stated reasons will make little to no difference.
Balance? Fairness? With all the things that are out of balance in this game, you are most concerned with 20 skill points? There are much bigger fish to fry in this game than a bonus given to loyal veteran players.

If Vet players have a +100 skill point advantage over new players, then there is no way a games shop would recommend SA.

There are not many new MMO games on the shelves. It should target the massive WOW market i.e. PvM, by focusing on making quality PvM content. If it has decent graphics, not the crap in KR it will sell many boxes. Remember it is the PvM that is keeping the servers running, not 3000 western PvPers.

    of all the things...

    really.

    i have 2 accounts (almost 3, sorta).

my PvP toon is on my account that has 705 max skills.

my crafters are on my vet account.

so, i see no disadvantage with skill caps.

the REAL disadvantage is with items / gold. new players are given NO armor... only a NOOB weapon... and friggin 10k gold.

that's LAME. and that's where the disadvantage is.

all NEW accounts should be given a GM or better mod weapon and choice between an all 60 suit (with nothing else) or an all 50 +70 lrc suit and AT LEAST 100k to start the game.
