Alot are asking for a second house on Siege or on other second shard.

As told so offen, this would hurt Siege badly. There are 20? normal shards, you would see most of the PvP'ers from there place a Siege house too. That would be ok if they would play here too but most of them would login once a month or so and the houses would be a pain as it would be ghost houses blocking spots for real Siege players.

There are better ways to fix it, not sure if it is possible to code. It would work on normal shards too.

    Bankboxes
1: Increase bankbox to 1000 items. (Siege only, when other shards do have more chars = more bankboxes) For other shards, a shared box in the bankbox all chars can access could be an idea.

    Rooms in townhouses
2: Rent out some of the rooms in town houses, give the renter 4 secure chests = 500 secure items, 20 can be used to lockdown deco items in the room.
Allow the secure on the chests and the door to be set to guild to allow sharing with guildmembers or chars on other account in same guild.
As it's townrooms, they will be expensive, 2000gp a week
Allow one vendor for each room

    Apartments
3: Some apartments, both in the edge of town and away from town, maybe with 10-20 apartments in each house. An apartment could have around 50-100 tiles incuded a balcony and from 500- 2000 secures/lockdowns. They should have normal secure setting like for classic houses.
Think monthly fee should depent of the max of lockdown, so 500 lockdowns = 5000gp a month to keep the apartment, 2000 lockdowns = 20.000gp a month.
Could make less wanted apartments cheaper, maybe half price.
Make a public hall for vendors, allow 1 vendor for each 500 lockdowns.
There should be crafting add-ons in the hall.
I'm sure devs could find some places for the Apartments, both in old land and in Malas.

Beds in Guard post and Guard Towers
4: Unused guard postes, alot of them still have beds. Rent out a bed and a single secure for around 500gp a week.
Add a few npc vendors and a minter and crafting add-ons and allow each renter to have 1 vendor placed in a public room.

Don't make the fee xtimes on Siege, it's time to remove xtimes vendor and deed prices from Siege.
Sure this will be cheaper to give up the house on old shards but alot need time to be ready for that and some will keep playing 2 shards.
Rent can be paid 2 month in advance. If not paid, the items will be released after 2 weeks and apartment, room, chests can be accessed of everyone until rented out again. Like houses, it will warn chars friended to the apartment in the 2 decay weeks.

Only chars with no house on the shard can rent a place to live.
I think this idea would help alot and if a player stop playing a shard, the bed, room or apartment will be free for others to rent.
At least on Siege this would be great.

    Nice!
I think these are great ideas that should be extended to all shards! I especially like the guard post and public vendor ideas. This would allow us to try out new shards without having to transfer first. I'm not keen on the increased bank box idea, but the rest have great potential.

Inn keepers should auto-auction items if rent not paid.

    One more gold sink!

Think that may be an idea on Trammel facets but on Felucca and Siege, I like the idea of it being released for all to fight over.

drawing from the idea of rented rooms.. I would love to be able to set a player house to an inn setting allowing others to safely log as if it were an npc inn.

Some crazy ppl going to camp inns 7x24? They need some kind of housing sign to get decaying status. Not realistic.

Compare to vendor rental - unpaid vendor get looted by house owner. So inn keeper should get all loot. Since NPC can't set right price, he should auction items.

Aye, it is a matter of belief. I feel however that such allowances to seige will only bring MORE requests for MORE. More characters, more homes more more more allowances on things that will make seige just another prodo shard.:sad4:

This isn't a bad idea, it would have been better back in our heyday of course - and sadly it wasn't attempted even when there was a true need! It's all a"tradeoff," or "bang for the buck" concept though from dev's perspective, as everything takes resources to design/ implement. On a 24x24 footprint, you should be able to get 4 rooms/ apts per floor, and it seems from customized houses that dev may be able to eek out 4 floors (3 for sure). "Greater Brit" alone offers "room" to take a look-see, particularly if unused fields/ farmlands are included in the terf. Keep rent cheap, allow for a couple vendors, and make storage reasonable (4 chests seem a little low to me personnally, 8 sounds about right). If done well, the system could be designed to enable auto-expansion based on demand/ need. As for camping "IDOC Apts," the easiest thing is simply to delete all stored contents if unoccuppied/ "defaulted."

As a system separate of housing restrictions, it would provide for more "cross shard" exploring and certainly couldn't hurt Seige. My guess is the only real problem is shard under-utilization, so best of luck to you and others who would like to see such a thing attempted.

That is why the room rental idea was proposed as it is. Not for Siege, but for the game as a whole.

It could also bring life back in old towns if all this emty houses was used of players.

Most of the rooms in town houses are small, so I think 4 secures is enough. It will help alot now where more items get stackable and if we get some jewelry and armor boxes.

Deleting the items if a player stop paying for his room is wrong, we do offen see players come back after a break asking if someone have their soulstones and sometimes they get them back. Friends may also save other stuff.

In town and in Trammel, an auction may be better but not in Felucca and Siege.
I do see one problem, the options to renew the rent need to be on the chars context or be possible as ghost so we don't get griefing to stop someone from paying their rent.

2000-5000 gold per week/month is very very very trivial for equal storage for a small house....

That's 3-6 mobs killed to pay for an entire month's rent which would take all of about 5minutes to do. The gold cost would need to be a LOT higher in order to be a viable gold sink and a worthwhile endeavor. Though putting vendors in town buildings would pretty much nullify any point of luna. Everyone would want to rent the rooms right next to brit bank and setup a vendor...

For some, it may be very cheap, but gold sink was never my goal. The reason for the payment is to be sure players can't keep the room just from paying their account and playing on other shards. It will work much like old refresh of houses, if you forget your room, you will lose it.

It's sure take me more than 3-6 mobs to make 20k and more than 5 mins but I'm not a hardcore PvM'er.

Maybe it's to cheap, I don't know, but it was not meant as a gold sink, at least on Siege, we don't need that, our ecomomy is healty.

I'm not sure how safe anything is on siege as I haven't ventured there in about 7 years, but crystal demons in shimmering dungeon drop 600ish gold and die in 2-3hits with a blackthorn kryss or any old demonslayer. They also die in 2-3 energy bolts or simply from energy vortexes in a few seconds.

They respawn instantly and can be farmed by multiple players as there are different spawnpoints thus giving about 600 gold per 5-10 seconds. The gold can then be easily Bag of sending'ed back to the bank and a player could accumulate millions in a short amount of time.

Another place would be ice dungeon tram, arctic ogre lords pose little opposition and die very quickily to fire attacks. With an ogre slayer scrappers and 120 eval one can 3shot these with explosion FS FS or sometimes even 1-2shot them if they have enough SDI gear and scribe.

While I'm not arguing your idea of refreshing the timer like old houses and boats now, I just wanted to point out where one might easily get tons of gold without any effort nowadays. There are plenty other spots that are safer of course and usually no one ventures to them but I'll keep those to myself ;)

    Huhza?

Make Siege more item based by allowing the players to store more items?

I have only just started to dabble on Siege but is that what the shard is supposed to be about?

I have spent less then 3 weeks there but in that time I have come across at least 2 dozen wide open spots that fit large towers. And these spots are close enough to a gate to be very viable.
Exisitng Siege players are certainly not lacking in primary housing.
Add to this the fact that most serious Siege players seem to be running multiple accounts and you have plenty of storage.

  17. That's NOT what this is about,at least for me, more storage for existing Seige players. Rather, it's allowing players on other shards to have storage/housing on Siege without having to place a house and lose their home on their main shard. It is a good way to try out Siege without having to first fully commit.

IF that were a real concern, it could be done so that you could not rent a room if you had placed a house on Siege. But I don't see that being necessary.

If you read again, you will see it would not be allowed accounts who already do have a house on Siege to rent a place to live.
It's only for players who want to try out Siege but not yet are ready to give up their house on old shard or can affort a second account to hold a Siege house.

Nope but new Siege players can't place a house without giving up their house on old shard.

It would also work for normal shard if a player play on more than one shard.

It's not about more storage to old Siege players but about a little place to call home for new Siege players.

  19. How does EA make money off this?

Because if they don't make money, it doesn't happen.

That is why they need to sell a second house per account in the EA store or charge more for an account per month with an additional house. That way, people who wanted a house on Siege could have one. Or if they wanted a house on their same shard, they could have that.

I know you are afraid that people will place houses on Siege and never be seen again. I'm not. I'm afraid that nothing aggressive will ever be done to increase the population. Well, the truth is it is more certainty than fear.

Your idea is ok as an idea, but it has less than zero chance of being implemented.

Think of an idea to get people on Siege and make money for EA and you've got a shot.

i.e. Read my threads about a second house...

    Not since the bos nerf.

A much eaiser fix coding wise would be sell deeds for a chest much like vendor deeds, then people could run there own hostells out of there homes.

I'd love to "rent" a space in Trinsic. Better than owning my own house. I just needed a little extra space.

Incidentally, it's key that people be able to decorate their rooms, limited in some fashion, so they don't look cluttered.
