Replicas better come with the original's properties or it won't really be worth it- I'd personally prefer owning a dupe if Replicas are half-assed copies so to speak. And this solution is simply "If you can't beat them, join them.".. So they can't beat cheating can they.. At least not duping.

    And the skill increasing scrolls...!!
Ok just give us Test Center commands on normal servers for 48 Hrs if you're gonna add all those!!

Then I noticed the various new potions!! WTF!! Factions items are getting even more enticing with each Publish 56 detail released. This is crazy, whoever doesn't join Factions is easy kill.

Now about the artwork! Should I be seeing anything different yet? It's all the same as before the patch in KR.
And my character is still bugged with the Face/Body colouring. In fact this last bit is becoming more than annoying and nobody will help. The only GM that tried failed, although it was a fun convo.

    ^HELP!! :sad4:

  2. Hmm... I wonder if this is how they will prevent (or catch) duping of over-powered imbued articles.

I think replicas are BAD idea. The mods on some of those items are absurd. I just hope that if these are indeed full mods replicas that they dont come to seige.

Ok so the [Replica] are either full copies, half-assed copies or a special tag for items to see which are the original ones.

The last theory is based only on the absence of Vine Cord Sandals [Replica] - as the duped ones have already been deleted.
Unless they are in the text but I somehow missed them. I prefer this scenario by far, personally.

Half-assed copies = Epic Fail, I just have to point this out again and again. :sad4:

*EDIT* You know when UO is WoW 1.5 when... you see evidence of Mana Potions!

What, you didn't already think UO was WoW 1.5 when you saw them steal the enchanting skill? err I mean "imbuing" skill? What about mysticism, unraveling items, and wow... health stones? What ... are we really in WoW playing warlocks now?

If I wanted to play WoW I'd play WoW and get better graphics, customer service, and dev team that fixes bugs before they get exploited to hell.

But I guess the #1 agenda on UO's list of ideas is to look at a blizzard title and copy it just like they did with diablo when they stole elemental damages and such.

I can't wait till they steal jewelcrafting, then I can pop some +2 Mana regen gems in every slot eh?

Thing is, a lot of these concepts have been around for ages anyway. And lets face it, WoW probably took off a fair few things from other games anyway..

UO used to be unique. Now its just another cookie cutter with worse graphics. And people wonder why fewer and fewer people are bothering to play. Gone are the days when UO's owners cared enough to hire good developers and designers that could think of things on their own instead of rehash other people's ideas.

    Imbuing=Enhancing
    Mana potions
    Health Stones
    Factions=Battlegrounds now
Item based vs Unique template skill based combat

All of these things are making UO just another standard MMORPG instead of being its own thing.

Fire this dev team and hire people with at least 100 skill points in Talent and a bare minimum of 90 skill points in Thinking on your own instead of being a copycat.

I know that its too much to ask for this little game to be able to get the Legendary Developers that other games can get. But at least get something better than what we are stuck with now.

UO will always be unique. Nothing will ever change that. If not for anything other than it's bass ackwards players who think that good idea should be omitted from the game because those concepts are similar in nature to a (hugely successfull and popular) another game.

UO's content and it's patch cycles and updates are ridiculous in comparison to the games it's supposedly cloning. UO will never be WoW. It will never resemble WoW. It will never not be UO. Anyone who thinks otherwise is too far into the "sandbox" they so lovingly cling to.

If UO doesn't adopt systems and ideas that are currently popular it will die. There is no argument to this fact. The last 4 years is proof that UO will not survive if something is not done to bring it into the light of current gaming.

The path UO is currently on seems to be motivating it into more of a PvP orientation. I'm sure this is going to make a lot of people happy eventually as there will be some type of Mythic's RvR garbage spewed into UO within the next year. I'd guess that is the only reason MJ convinced the EA execs to keep the servers going. If the new idea for UO doesn't work on this round of "Epic" changes UO uniqueness will only exist on it's numerous freeshards.

  10. The idea derives from Diablo which has been using the actual ability to "Imbue" items since it came out. You can't compare everything in UO to WoW because WoW is such a new game that 99% of its ideas/components derive from other games.

Even if it was a new idea presented by the devs who did not intentionally steal it from another game, they will still be flamed for it because a similar system exists in another game. I would prefer people just pull their heads out of their ass and realize that just because similar systems exist doesn't make it anymore similar to other games. WoW is by far the furthest thing from Ultima when you actually play it.

If anything, WoW is 1.5 UO and UO is 100% legit aside from the most recent concepts added into the game over the past two years including the new gargoyle expansion.

It is totally true that UO has lost almost every last spec of what made it unique at one time.

I remember a day when I watched a thief in nothing but rags for armor beat down 4 out of 5 people after going grey stealing with nothing more than a crap normal warfork in his hand before specials all the while stealing from all 5 people.

Try that today and see how far you make it.

The player was called Sticky Fingers and the shard was Great Lakes. The year 1997.

Not that it matters one bit though because if this game was reverted to the state it was in the very first year you would quit that day anyone would.

No keyrings, monsters going through gates, no trammel for the sissies, no insurance, no artifacts, houses did NOT auto refresh you had to open and close the door to refresh them, Nothing could even be locked down so you only let those you actually trusted into your home, Nightsight was something only a mage could provide if there was no magery on your character you had to carry a light source, No auto looting of your body, No locks on skills or stats they just went up and down depending on what you were using the most so becoming gm was possible for about 5 seconds...

I am just going to stop there before I get carpel tunnel from typing a book on the flaws of UOs past.

You want the good ol' days back that bad eh? count me out I was there once it was good then because it was the only thing we had but now that we have had such luxuries of todays game there is no going back. It would be like driving a $500.00 car for a few years then being handed any high end car of your choice to drive for 5-7 years then being handed your old beater back and having the high end car yanked from you on the spot.

There will always be people that see nothing but the bad parts of the past. No one denies that UO had some issues in its beginning. No duh. But, on the whole it was a gameworld changing creation that made the WoW's, Darkfalls and WHO's of today possible. If you think going back to the spirit of what UO was in the past means just bringing back each and every bad thing that you still have nightmares about 10 years later, no one can change that opinion.

For those of us a little more enlightened, however, there are many many good things about pre UOR that would be much desired in today's UO. Sorry you hate UO so bad back then and you paid $12 a month to play a game that gave you nightmares. Some us actually enjoyed the game and paid to play it because of that.

As for having a car from the past versus one today. Give me that '69 Camaro any day of the week. You can keep that '04 Ford Focus. I won't complain at all. And give me the happy go luck early 60's any day of the week. You can have the 90's-08 middle east conflicts. I won't complain at all.

Stop with the cars, this ain't NFS Undercover.
Or.. It is with all those items but you get the point. :gun:

It doesn't give me nightmares, I like WoW.. ;P So why should UO give me nightmares? :p

And Diablo/WoW use the same principles everywhere. Diablo was out before UO. Darkstone was out before UO too I think.

UO was Diablo with skills and persistent content as far as an average RPG player(me at the time) was concerned, and perhaps looked more realistic.. We're talking an average gamer who doesn't need a house and just wants to fight monsters and players, find treasure.. whatnot.
Later on we were all forced to move into a new mind-set and increase play-time but that's another story.

I still pay not because the game is UbEr and I secretly drool over Gargs. Just my friends in it. Which doesn't make it "a game about community" by default either.

I've made "Vote With Your Credit Card" my way of acting and I will definitely do that if they keep messing with the game this way. I mean yeah, I noticed we got a mini-WoW ever since ML so I was being patient (seeing the LIGHT you mention).

It's just gotten over the top for real and I like discussing this. Just like some others like to praise the game for.. Uhmm.. What is it again? New plants? Fixing the Cow Milking? Nobody manages to explain it in few, plain words. And the new way of adding content is VERY AGGRESSIVE; JOIN OR DIE. And I don't like stuff shoved down my throat when I pay to play.
