I'm not looking for flames, trolls or a massive debate, just numbers. If that's possible?
New theme looks like unfinished.
Which what? Didn't know you can change it...
Classic here too!
Btw, if it's all the same to you, can it be set as the default? Everytime I logout and clear my cookies, it resets to dark stone.
heh... it resets mine to the Classic on some pages, Dark Stone on others..
Hmm...maybe it's page related? I normally close UHall last, so that's the page that always get set to dark stone for me. Does Uhall reset to dark stone for you?
Btw, Petra, how do I see who voted?
Kinda odd everyone is saying classic, yet Dark Stone is in the lead and the lead came out of nowhere.
Did someone bring out their alt accounts or something? heh
Dark Stone - simple reason - the theme is easier on my eyes, and easier to read the text in.
Can't you have an admin write you a query to your MySQL Database and see what values are in each users settings?
Didn't know we could change it. Some pages are the dark stone and some are the classic. I don't know why.
There are board themes?
For those asking "there are board themes?". Scroll down to the very bottom of any forum page and in the lower left corner is a drop-down menu that will let you change the "theme" of the forum (Background color, etc.).
'cause it's sexier!
If it were me, I'd put it in CSS and save a cookie rather than save it as a database user setting... faster!
Would suck though if every time I cleaned up my temp files and cookies I'd have to reset my theme.
erm, dunno. Didn't think of that.
Well crack that whip! Throw your weight around! Show'em who's boss!
... errr.. And such.
Seriously, they should be able to easily write you a query to tell you how many users have each profile. It's no big deal, just gotta get ahold of your DBA
DBA? That would be the TGN guys. They're a tad busy making wikis atm. Lots and lots and lots of wikis.
No option for that though...
Not for UO, though - it's mostly for newer games that people expect to have their data presented as a wiki.
A recent interview of one of the TGN guys goes over the point that they started into this line of work doing wikis for the various Facebook games.
I'm a fan of the dark stone, personally.
Dark Stone works fine for me thanks.
I'm not a fan of overly "bright" forums, so the colour settings on this are easier on the eyes.
Age of Conan or World of Warcraft. The two look more professional. Are easier on my eyes. And blend better with our current UO:SA Banner.
UO Classic seems a bit outdated but is a little more 'UO.' Darkstone looks unfinished.
WoW wide screen.
That's what's happening now... so I think they are using CSS to make the change.
*points to post #16 above*
This is the same reason I use Dark Stone. The rest of the themes are too hard to read and too bright on the eyes for the most part.
That query can LITTERALLY be written in less than 5 minutes. I'd say 30 seconds if you know the tables, but I don't want to seem cocky (I'm a DBA myself). If it were in MS SQL, I'd write it for you, and you could tell them to just replace the correct column names and run it.
It's not a big favor to ask them for it, if total accuracy is what instead of optional voting, that's the way to go, and it shouldn't be a problem for them.
Dont Know, Dont Care!
It wouldn't provide an accurate result, I'd hazard a guess most would come back as "0", rather than the proper ID of the style they use.
When you change the style via the drop down menu (bottom left), it doesn't change it in the database
For it to register in the database, users would need to go into Edit Options in the control panel and manually choose a style to use.
For instance, on UOForums, out of 7,123 users, 6,998 have the styleID of "0" assigned to their account.
Thanks Petra! I too never knew about changing the board theme. Now that I've looked at them.. I'm voting Classic.
I prefer dark stone. But, as Adam said, I typically view the default.
