Revamp Old Classic Dungeons?

    Just an idea once SA hype is over. Perhaps throw some new spawns in the classic dungeon. Maybe a boss or something. Make it interesting again. Add some new secret rooms. Would save time and money just to revamp some of the spawn rather then build a new place.

    Just my future suggestion. I was reading through some WoW changes of them blowing up areas that aren't used anymore.... with that said dont let the Dev team near the black rock please.

    Seeing as the new mini-boss spawns in the Abyss are so wildly popular, why not institute this into the legacy dungeons? Would give people a reason to go back...

    I'd definitely support this.

    However, I think the uselessness of the old dungeons is a little over-stated. They still do have their uses, mostly working up newer characters, and some of the Virtue Artifacts are still in use (most notably the Dragon's End and those 2 shields). Also the old dungeons are frequently used for RP and for EM events.

    But I'm always in favor of new things, and am strongly attracted to some of those new things being in old places.

    However, I think they should wait a nice, long while....A few months at the very least.

    Create a boss at the end of each dungeon and let it drop the gargoyle artifacts human versions.

    There were curious new additions added to old dungeons like Despise. If you go down to the bottom level of Despise, there are two inaccessible areas which were added. One is by the pool where the cyclopses and titans spawn and the other by the acid elemental. Now I thought perhaps these would be entrances into the Abyss/Underworld as in Ultima 5 the Underworld was reachable by all the dungeons. My hope is that they can add new levels to the underworld and open passageways to the old legacy dungeons.

    Also, if I recall correctly, one could access the Stygian Abyss from Lord British's castle. It seemed to me they were setting up for this, with the rat event and letting hints drop that the Castle was built atop older structures. There is a rat hole that leads behind the throne. Could this reach the dungeon beneath Castle Britannia and thence to the underworld?

    I am all for a massive revamp of Britannia as a whole. Dungeons, cities and overland spawns.

    Dungeons need to be redecorated and themed. Right now they are boring and 12 years stale.

    Britannian cities DESPERATELY need to be redecorated to look like people actually live there. They are boring to look at and contain virtually no content beyond the stale community collections.

    Overland spawn.. Does anyone aside from the stray newbie even DO any? I'd like to see some sort of reason to wander the landscape.. and no, I don't mean a mob behind every tree ready to pwn us either - thats what Tokuno is for...

    No, no and no! You've got Malas, Tokuno, Ilshenar, Ter Mur... Please leave the old lands as it is - Felucca and Trammel.Just because you find it boring doesn't mean others feel the same. Want a minispawn? Go Abyss! Want useful arties? Go Doom!

    The old lands, cities and dungeons are the ONLY thing left from the original UO - I would hate to loose that! Do what you want for the waterless, depressing Malas, the neglected Tokuno, the fancy new Ter Mur, but leave the old lands alone!

    If we're looking at older landmasses to revamp, I think Trammel T2A is more than due.

    I can sympathize with the desire to keep one map in its original state (Fel perhaps?) , but the tiered spawn style of the abyss is soooo much better than regular spawn areas that I think they should a continuous project of start inserting one or two with each publish around the land.

    I was chatting with a guildie about this in vent the other day. They keep adding in new lands and new lands when there's plenty of land and dungeons active right now that just need a little tweak.

    Personally, i would do themes to the dungeons. No huge changes, just beef some spawn up in the beginning and add in a not too hard dungeon themed mini boss that can be solo killed in time dropping maybe 1 guaranteed 115PS or a 2point SOT and maybe imbuing ingredients.

    They wouldn't even have to change the dungeons, just delete one area of spawn to put the boss.

    um i will have to say i disagree with the boss dropping a PS or SOT. my reasoning is if this was done they would be camped and market flooded. With the new way of turning the smaller PS into larger ones soon there would be no need in looking for a PS or SOT at all because everybody would have maxed out with in a few months.:thumbdown:
    Now imbuing ingreds i can go along with as well as maybe a rare chance to drop a human elf version of new garg arties.:thumbsup:

    Instead of adding more spawn or more difficult spawn, I'd rather like to see a more dynamic spawn and an improved monster AI. We have enough dungeons and places already. What we now need, is an improvement of quality.

    That was the point i was going with sorta. By giving a single 115 after time they could turn in for a 20. With my idea the market wouldn't be anymore flooded than it currently is while giving us solo players something to look forward to. I didn't mean for it to sound like the bosses would be easy either, just doable solo. Maybe 15k hp and half the skills of a baracoon. This SHOULD take around 1/2 the time it would to solo a baracoon spawn which gives 6 scrolls (chances at 120s) multiple Sots AND replicas.

    Your idea is good as well but i just wanted you to know how mine would work. Maybe even seperate drops for tram/fel rulesets.

    -Hawk: That's what i'm trying to say. Instead of adding in new rooms ect just take 1 room of spawn out add in a mini boss that isn't too awful hard but time consuming and beef up hp-loot on existing low end monsters that are never used anymore. I haven't even seen new players kill earth eles or ettins on purpose since the virtue drop was put in.
