Sampire Armor

What kind of armor am I looking to get as a Sampire? Am I looking for LRC, or armor with stats and regen and carry necro regs? From what I can tell it looks like most people are using things like mace and shield, jackals collar, etc.

    Thanks

    P.S.
I looked around a little, but what is a Whammy that people talk about?

    45+ DCI

All 60's resists at the bare minimum, after vamp form. 75+ fire and poison after vamp if you're going to be fighting things with necromancy.

Dexterity bonus/Stamina increase - Dex bonus for healing (if you use it) stam increase for swing speed.

Damage increase - weapon, jewelry and talisman. Stormgrip can be used, but I like gloves with better resists.

Lower mana cost - nice to have, not needed, you should leech enough.

Mana regen - same as LMC

Mana increase - not really needed as an elf, but for a human it's awesome

LRC is a no. The only times you will ever use regs for anything as a sampire are either casting vampiric embrace (lasts until your next death) or curse weapon (if you have high-ish spirit speak). And arcane boots work fine for VE. Just carry Pig Iron for curse weapon.

    A decent suit would be:

    Mace and Shields
    Jackal's Collar
Rune Beetle Carapace/Heart of the Lion
High resist sleeves with stam inc, mana inc, LMC, whatever you want. Resists are main thing
    Gloves - same as sleeves
    Fey Leggings/Leggings of Bane
Ring - DCI/DI/Stat bonuses/resists/HCI (not truly needed if you can spam lightning strike)
    Bracelet - same as ring

Weapon - This is the hardest part to find, for me at least. For swords, I would look at radiant/twinkling scimitars, rune blades, and ornate axes, with:

    40+ Hit Mana Leech
40+ Hit Stamina Leech (really, you can do without. refresh pots if one handed, or Divine Fury)
40+ Hit Lower Attack (no HLD needed because of Mace and Shields)
25+ Swing Speed Increase (not absolutely a requirement for scimitar, but 25 for rune blades and 30 for ornates)
10+ DCI/HCI (not really needed. should get enough DCI on suit and HCI from LS)
~40 Damage Increase - more damage is always great

    Template is:

    120 weapon skill
    120 bushido
    120 parry
    100 tactics
    100 anatomy
    100 necromancy
    60 chivalry

or I use this one usually:
    120 swords
    120 bushido
    120 tactics
    100 anatomy
    100 healing
    100 necromancy
    60 chivalry

Lynk has an awesome one, but it takes a LOT of +skill items, so hard to put together. I'll post it anyway:

    120 swords
    120 bushido
    120 parry
    99 necromancy
    90 anatomy
    90 healing
    90 tactics
    60 chivalry

You need 69 skill points from items to make it work though.

Oh, and wammy is a samurai in wraith form. Uses only 40 necromancy and at least 80 spirit speak. I think mine will eventually go something like:

    120 macing
    120 bushido
    120 parry
    120 tactics
    120 spirit speak
    80 chivalry
    40 necromancy

Of course, you can drop tactics, spirit speak, and chivalry 20 or so points each for anatomy, or you can drop parry completely for 120 anatomy. Your call.

Suit and weapons are easier though:

Wraith form adds +15? physical, and takes away 5 fire and energy, I think. I cast protection for curse weapon though, which nullifies, or at least reduces, the physical bonus. Curse weapon gives you 50% life leech, and wraith form gives you a percentage of mana drain based on your spirit speak. Like, 25% or so at GM I think?

    Weapon:
I use macing on mine, for stam drain. Diamond maces are my favorite.

    40+ stamina leech
    40+ hit lower attack
    25+ swing speed increase
    ~40 damage increase

That's all you really need. Pretty simple, just a little harder to play, have to keep curse weapon up.

    Or, you could do:

    120 wep
    120 bushido
    120 parry
    100 tactics
    100 spirit speak
    100 necromancy
    60 chivalry

For the ability to switch between vamp and wraith as needed. I run that one right now actually. And, as before, you could drop parry for anatomy if you want.

So Ender, Can you take a Sampire to doom with no resist? Or is a Sampire just for soloing higher end mobs?

I'm not Ender, but I've taken my sampy to doom w/o resist several times and been fine. Resist does help in doom, though.

I guess you could. It'd just be pretty nasty. Solo anyway. In a group, I've never used resist down there. Sampires will solo almost everything in game so far.

But if you go to solo Doom, take the first template I listed, drop the 100 anatomy, and get 100 resist.

You might be able to do it solo without resist. I haven't tried. But blood oath will kick your ass if you're doing really high damage.

So the main difference between the Sampire and Whammy is that the Sampire uses Vamp. embrace, and the Whammy uses Curse weapon for his life leech? Is it just two different ways to accomplish the same thing?

The template I was originally going to use was:
    120 Mace
    120 Parry
    120 Bushido
    100 Necro
    100 SS
    100 Tactics
    60 Chiv

Am I better off to swap out SS for Anat?

Whammy uses wraith form for mana, and curse weapon for life, yes.

That's actually what I run, and it's pretty nice. I don't really miss the anatomy too much. And even if the damage is noticeably lower, it's a 70% life leech (20% vamp embrace, 50% curse weapon) instead of 20%, so it's still better IMO.

So to run Whammy, you should prolly be human for the free 20 in magery? For protection, yes?

    Nah, just use a scroll.

  12. If you have the ability to swap skills, you should swap SS for Anat, not Parry. SS has zero effect on a Sampire while Parry has a huge one.

    Curse weapon.

  14. Sampires don't use curse wep because of the karma needs.

Mine works just fine with spirit speak and no anatomy. I don't spam curse weapon though, since it's not always needed, but I do use it fairly often, and my karma is fine.

What are the karma needs? You need low karma or high karma?

  17. You need high karma for Chiv.

Well, the higher your karma, the more effective your chiv spells. Think that's what they're talking about.

  19. Ansio

So you can be a Sampire and still have high karma?

The standard sampire always has basically max karma. The only time you ever lose it is when you cast vampiric embrace. If you go with the spirit speak template I posted, you lose it every time you cast curse weapon, but it lasts long enough that you don't need to cast it a ton, and in vampire form you won't need it all the time anyway.

How do you know when you are draining life in Vampiric embrace? Is there an animation or a message? I can not tell if I am or not, right now im only attacking Lizardmen, so im not sure if that is why or not.

It automatically heals you 20% of the damage you do, on every hit. As long as you're in vampire form anyway. Your character is neon white, right?

Of course, if you're not losing health, it's not noticeable anyway.

I am neon white. I thought it just might be a case of not losing much health.
Thanks for all the info guys

If you gear for mana regen/LMC and run wraith form with SS, you can chain armor ignores indefinitely on monsters with mana in PvM, lots of fun.

Oh and LRC on a Necro warrior is a waste, just carry necro regs in separate stacks of 40 or 30, so they cant all be looted at once.

If you're having trouble getting to your corpse to get regs back, embrace honor.

mmm, it's quite obvious, but all you guys are forgeting a "little" detail: (i think nobody mentioned it) :p
Your mount, with a sampire on a excepcional armored dragon, it quits you 20% damage
(not mentioning you can make a fast run if needed)
worst thing of whammies, for me, is that they are attached to the ground in wraith form...

although i have seen a whammy fighting Irk (the quicksilver paragon butterfly xD )
and he managed the fight very well.

Another detail, I have not checked it, but it's supposed the life leecing is not similar to the mana leeching, you can life leech always, indefinitely, but the mana leech is a drain, you steal the mana from your enemy, this is good because he cannot cast on you if you steal all its mana, but is bad becouse you too run out of mana in long combats.
    It's true that?

    great post.

I do not think that is thye case, this is from Uo Herald:

Hit Mana Leech - Each time the weapon hits, it will do its normal damage. Then the weapon restores up to 40% of the displayed percentage of the damage dealt as Mana to the weapon's wielder. Note: No Mana is actually removed from the target.

Hit Life Leech - Each time the weapon hits, it will do its normal damage. Then the weapon restores up to 30% of the displayed percentage of the damage dealt as Hit Points to the weapon's wielder. Note: No Hit Points (beyond the actual weapon damage) are actually removed from the target.

    Not exactly, or yes.
Sorry, i did not explain myself well, i mean, the item property 'hit mana leech' don't works like the wraith form ability to mana leech, the wraiths drain like this: (from uoguide)

And this must be true, when i cast with my mage necromancer in wraith form on to liches or creatures with decent int and mana, i leech, even leech a lot of mana, but if you cast on 'low-int/low-mana' creatures, you dont leech at all.

So i suppose a whammy with a weapon that does NOT leech mana, only leeching with his wraith ability, eventually run out of mana (him and his enemy).

I've never run out of mana using wraith form soloing Dread Horn. My mana did stay fairly low at Paroxysmus when I used wraith, but then, that's much easier with vamp and an armored swampy anyway.

But I've used my wraith macer to solo Putrefier with ease, something my vamp swords hasn't come close to yet. I'm considering trying a bokuto and feint soon though.

Really though, if you have 2 character slots, or lots of soulstones, do both.
