I need some experienced sampire PvM help. I finally got my guy up and running on Sonoma, and this is about how he is looking:

    Stats:
    150 Str
    150 Dex
    25 Int

    Skills:
    120 Swords
    120 Bushido
    100 Parry
    100 Anat(120 with jewels)
    100 Necro
    80 Chiv
    100 Tactics

    Suit:
    45HCI
    45DCI
    70/70/70/70/70
    50HLA
    30HLD
    Mana Leech
    Stamina Leech
    +25HPI
    100 DI

Using an elven machete with: HLA, SSI, SL, ML, DI.

And Navrey is DESTROYING me. I get about 9-10 shots off, she hits me once for 40-50, and then again, I chug, and I am about dead. Is there a tactic to beat her?

    (wrong forum)
for big strong bosses you need to use feint or you lose hp too fast..
another thing: I suggest to bring tactics to 120 and anatomy to 100 because you can get an extra 2.5% free damage increase :p

Honor, EoO, Consecrate weapon, Confidence to heal, feint to help dodge, double strike to get an extra helping of HP leech.

leaf blade if you use potions.

    Daisho if you don't.

    Feint every 3-4 seconds.

Feint doesn't increase your dodge rate, just halves damage done to you from all sources for a few seconds.

also, 120 tactics is better than 120 anatomy, like someone else stated.

If you're still getting hammered, you could lower chiv and increase parry, should help, 35/40 parry rate is nice.

  6. The Daisho is Swords Feint weapon and has identical speed and base damage to a Leafblade only 2h so you have 5% more defense.

I would suggest that, a Rune Blade, or an Ornate Axe.

You can also repeat the Acid Popper quest to avoid the stupid dying while webbed crap.

In addition to what's been said, Leafblade has further usefulness if you don't have parry, since there are some very nice shields you can pair it with if you don't use potions.

... and for a template with no parry and Necro + SS, daisho doesn't even compare. (because of AI)

Oh, and make sure you're using an Exceptionally Barded Swamp Dragon.

Well it depends, I find double strike does more damage in a PvM setting than AI (AI does around 160 while Double strikes does around 218) but obvious disadvantage of the second hit not hitting, which against non parrying mobs with 45hci and hld, seems to be rare. Just my observation.

... completely dependent on the given PvM situation.
http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=194180 <--- already argued my position on AI vs DS

That's prolly because I've never fought anything that didn't benefit more from Double attack. I'm sure there's a great many of creatures with high resists (Renowned pixie comes to mind) I just don't fight those with a samurai, I go with the tamer XD.

But yeah, lot of things you can do depending on the situation.

To the OP. I'd really think about raising that parry. 5%/6% increase, every little bit helps, and I don't see anyone needing 80 chivalry... could be wrong though :/ Think 70 is when chiv dispells revenants

I would not recommend a sampire template that has no primary healing method, ie. Healing or SS, because your char would be very limited to certain monsters, though your equips are good.

Try replace anatomy with spirit speak (for curse weapon).

Go tank a balron and the paragon toe to toe, and you'll see the difference.

Can you tell me what your gear is to get all you have on it? And BTW why not use a Slayer weapon?

Anyways that Curse Weapon sounds awesome. If the Life Leech on Vampiric Embrace is only 20% and Curse Weapon is 50%, why dont more people make Curse Weapon Whammies or something like that? Does Curse Weapon stack with Vampiric Embrace for 70% Life Leech?

You never "need" SS for anything.

Just do what others have said. Feint, ect.

Dropping anat for SS lowers your damage output, means you heal less. It might be better for soloing but, in my experience, the lower damage output works terrible if someone else gets an honor. You have the crutch of curse weapon and using De Buffs and curses that necromancy gives and can use wraith instead of vamp to leech mana while spaming curse weapon. Problem is, your karma drops with that, which mean chivalry spells last less ( a lot less ) and some spells don't even work (remove curse, dispell evil, Cleanse by Fire is karma, not skill, based.) Though, under the right circumstances, with SS, you can heal for about 90+ damage almost instantly, getting hit at all though screws it up.

Hmm, OK. Where does all your DI come from? The only thing I saw is from your Weapon. HOTL = Heart of the Lion ?

    50 from weap
    10 from glasses
    25 from gloves
    20 from talisman

i think you would heal more because you only deal say 20% less of your total damage and heal 50% more when you have curse weapon cast, so you end up healing more.

But you have to cast it, lowering your karma, lowering the effectiveness of your chivalry spells, and lowering your damage out put since you don't have the anatomy. Then there's the fact she can just smack you while you're casting.

Wraith doesn't block poison, it blocks bleed.

Vamp blocks 1-4 poison. You could always do the quest, or use potions and a one handed weapon. If you're human you can try for a level 6 focus and JoaT gift of renewal. Spam evasion every 20 seconds. And spam Feint. I can't stress this enough. Feint feint feint. Don't bother if you don't have a leaf blade of daisho.

Yeah I guess the Vampire Form makes more overall sense. It sounded like a good idea though. Anyways Ive had it recommended to me that if i wanted to fight stuff that casts like trying to Solo Doom (I am making a Sampire for PvM) I would have to swap Resist for Anatomy anyways... Its a tank right so the most important thing is to stay alive while fighting a monster, because if you can outlast it you can defeat it.

    -Switched anat for SS
    -Same suit set up
    -Feint right away
    -Curse weapon, EOO, Consecrete
-I double strike/LS until I get hit, the I feint

If she hasn't tangled me up recently, I do evade just to be safe. Average hit is 150 or so and even if she has me to 50 life, a double strike brings me back to almost full life.

Just to toss this out there, you don't have to use a feint weapon. I run my sampire with 120 macing, 120 bushido, 120 parrying and 45 DCI. Here's a pic of this morning's go:

You can see I am using a Diamond Mace. The stats on the weapon are:

Bronze Diamond Mace (40% Fire damage)
    Spider Slayer
    50% Stamina Leech
    49% Mana Leech
    30% SSI
    40% Damage Increase

I usually hit Navrey for 70-80 with crits in the 170-180 range. Navrey broke my swampy's armor during the battle. Even so, without a feint weapon I was able to take him down. The key for me is careful application of evasion, confidence, and continuous lightning strikes. I sit through the webbing. He normally knocks me from 135 (or 125 when weakened) hit points down to about 70-80. When I come out the webbing, I get a quick lightning strike in to leech up hit points and then I immediately use evasion and confidence (if not at max already). The fight takes a little while, but not too bad. Even without the barding (which broke halfway through the battle) I was able to survive without a feint weapon.

Navrey killed me a time or two when I first started fighting him after pub 64 until I got my technique down. Now it is a good hack-and-slash battle. You probably will do better than me from the onset, but even if not, keep at it... you'll get it. The hard part is finding him alone.

    -OBSIDIAN-

P.S. Don't think arties will start dropping like mad once you can solo him. I've still only gotten one drop from him (night eyes).
