Sampire Weapon Crafting - THIS IS KILLING ME

I have blown 10 Bronze Runics and 1 Gold, and I am SOOO close to making a great weapon.

    Close as in:

    Rune Blades

    HML66
    HLL 42
    HCI12

    HSL42
    HML75
    FC1

    BUT NO SSI. ugh

    And then:

    HML 50
    SSI 20

    BUT NO HSL or HLL.

How the hell do you craft a superb weapon? Is this the pure luck portion of the build?

After burning probably 40 bronze runics, I finally bought what I wanted. This is one aspect of the game that I would love to see a luck suit actually have an effect.

It must be all luck.. I just spent a bundle buying a ton of Turquoise and was planning on burning many bronze hammers for a good heavy ornate axe... 10 whacks into the 2nd hammer:

    HSL 46
    HML 55
    SSI 25
    DI 50

May the RNG be kind to you..:) Sometimes she does smile on us..

This one ate at my soul for a while, I still can't smelt it.

    46 ML
    45 SL
    47 HLA
    52 DI
    Luck 118 :( how ironic.

In the end finding (and buying) the perfect weapon is harder than crafting one, I think. The perfect ornate came up for sale recently ML,SL,HLA,30SSI,DI and sold for 400 million.

    Here's another one.

    HSL 46
    HLL 56
    HML 76

Why couldn't this have had like 20 SSI.

I have to say the odds of getting a weapon like this seem to destroy this template. If I have to have all this on a weapon, it's going to kill me gold or time-wise. If my character hinges on have a set weapon, I can't see this happening. Anyone ever figure the odds of making a SL, ML, SSI weapon?

I feel ur pain man...I have burnt prolly 30 bronze runics...my weapon skill is macing...i make nothing but diamond maces...out of all those runics i have a 45 mana 48 stam 20 ssi and 40 di as my main and a 38 stam 36 mana 25 ssi 40 di as my back up...i have still yet to get one with 30 ssi...i depend on agility pots to swing fast but i still solo Dreadhorn and the DF. i dunno man the best weapon is the diamond mace by far in my opinion...all the hard hitting swords wepons are 2 handed and u cant chug with em. In the end it gives me anxiety thinkin bout how much money i burned trying to get these weapons.

I have no idea about the odds, though I'm sure it is in the 1/10000's. All I can tell you is to stick with it, it WILL happen, and when it does just be prepared to catch yourself before you fall out of your seat.

When I came back from a while away from the game and dusted my sampire off I decided to refit and rearm him from the ground up. The suit wasn't all that tough to get put together (though I have since moved to the assasin set, which adds challenges of its own), but the weapon is without a doubt the hardest part of the build to aquire.

And IMO it SHOULD be hard. Your weapon is your life with this build, period.

I started buying up gold, aggy, verite and valorite hammers to make the weapons I wanted. My Heavy Ornate was first on the list and I scored it on the 2nd or 3rd hammer. Then the Twinklie...thought I would never get this one and was getting disgusted with it. But on the first swing of about my 20th hammer I made the most insane PvM scimitar that I personally have ever laid eyes on. I use it for everything, its crazy. I still as of this writing, and 50+ more hammers burned through, still can't seem to score a rune blade that's worth a damn.

Just keep an eye out for those awesome PvP weapons, mage weps, etc. I sold a few of them for a small fortune in gold which helps keep me stocked with hammers to burn.

Stick with it, the first time you head down to doom and solo a DF or destroy a peerless boss and open that corpse knowing that everything in it is yours...Believe me, it is well worth the time, money, and energy you put into creating the build.

    Best of luck!

I appreciate the positive posts. I have been working hard to get this character up and running. I have never done a champ spawn, never soloed a DF, and never fought a peerless boss yet. None of it.

I see SA coming and I am gonna bet that not many people are not going to want to do many of these things. I have been racing to get there but it seems now I am stuck. For training, my gear is fine. For anything else, I am kinda trapped.

I am going to buy some Barbed kits and make some tight armor. I will revisit the weapon as I can.

I'm not sure per say what type of weapon you are wanting to make but...the hammers you are using will do the trick. Now...if you are just trying to only use the hammer and nothing else, luck will have nothing to do with it. You will have almost a zero chance of making a descent weapon.

I recommend a good blacksmithing talisman, at least elder on your smith and a good +hammer. Half the weapons I make are basically keepers. The rest I sell and make a profit.

All that +skill stuff has no influence on getting the desired mods, just success and exceptional chances.

120 Blacksmith with 17 Bonus/ 27 Exceptional BS Talisman. I was using a +15 Ash as well. I make everything from Iron. I burnt 12 Bronze and 1 Gold. Like I posted, I got some nice weapons, but nothing a Sampire could use.

Additionally as far as something I wanted to add...don't blow all of your burns on one weapon type. AT any point in time when you go to make weapons. Break your weapons up into groups. Do one weapon. If you keep getting some good breaks, then keep doing them. If not, then goto another weapon. I know its my opinion, but from my experience I've had tremendous success. But what's one man's success may be another man's failure. :D

Other than that...I don't see how you are "trapped." The expansion isn't coming out tomorrow so you still have plenty of time. In terms of the expansion...meh whatever. It would have to be from quite a historical perspective in terms of the monster offerings to drag EVERYONE away from said places.

Why? The developer's are doing a disfavor if they made those places worthless...which if intelligent, they won't. Most any other online game I've played has different areas set up that are similarly challenging and give different, yet rewarding gear and rewards.

Um, that was my point. Desired modifications is kind of a catch 22 since you can't WILL what you want to receive. yah?

Additionally, the OP did not state what their blacksmithing skill was at. So...I just stated some good criteria. It's not like any of those hammers are expensive anyways. If a good smith...should be receiving your own anyhow.

*edit though to say that from your newer post I see you have 120 smithing. May seem stupid too, but I do most of my crafting before the server goes down. I rarely craft during the day. Superstitious maybe, but plenty of other people are trying to get "good" weapons during the day. Late at night, means more chances for you. Like I said...superstitious theory.

You wont waste that much money if you use the right runics.

When it comes to PvM use horned kits for armor, still 4 mods and 1/3 the cost of barbed.

Use copper hammers instead of bronze. When i need a 3 mod wep I'll buy 20 coppers, burn them one hammer at a time on a wep I'm trying to get. Look through em, if I dont get what I want then I scrap whatever isn't sellable.

It's so much cheaper to do it this way. Luckily I had 3 towns from factions at one point and stocked up on like 2 mil iron ingots.

Ya. I have a Legendary Smith/Tailor and I think next week I will burn normal weapon BoDs and search for those that give Copper, Bronze and up. Gonna take work.

Here's my take on sampires: work on a disco tamer. It takes a few months to get one leveled up, and while you're working on discord and taming, constantly scan the search sites for sampire weapons. I'm now working up my third weapon skill for my sampire (started with swords, then switched to fencing, now switching to maces) to match the weapon I just got: I think it makes more sense to find the weapon first and then build the toon. I realize this probably isn't much help if you already have your sampire built up, but it seems to just be the reality of the situation that finding the weapon is by far the hardest part of making the sampire.

If my math is right, it's 1 in 1771 on a bronze hammer attempt. 22C3 or something like that (can't remember offhand, but I figured it out the other day). The odds are substantially better if you're burning verites or valorites (by at least 1 order of magnitude).

i think guum here is absolutely correct. I would suggest filling all your bods and selling all of your lower end hammers until you can buy gold/aggy or bigger hammers. Yes they have less swings, but the additional mods they guarantee grant you a heck of a lot better chance of getting the 3 you are ultimately after.

Not to mention you can sell the ones you can't use for even more money.

The best advice I can give on crafting with high end runics is create a toon on TC and test and see what you think. I went yesterday and burned 30 charges of valorite and got mostly crap. maybe 3 or 4 weapons with swing speed. It convinced me to not burn my hammer, at least for now.

Also something else that might help is just sell off all your hammers stop burning them. Then take the money from selling them and buy the weapons you need, but that only works if your on a shard that sells alot of weapons.

I burnt well over 500mil on hammers just for my weapons. Just because not many ppl sell the weapons I was looking for on cats.

On cats your basic weapon for the temp with hml hsl ssi di normally runs from 1mil+. Just check finduo.com every day while your playing and im sure you will find something before you craft it if your just useing bronze hammers. Or you might get lucky and make it its all up to you and how you want to play. It does fill good to see all your weapons crafted by you .

I think, having had a day to reflect on it, I am going to just slow down. I want to get my Sampire out there and do all these great things I have heard about, but I need to improve her gear. I have a Legendary Smith and TONS of plain BoDs. So I am trading them in for other BoDs and storing the hammer rewards. I think when I get about 20 to 25 Bronze hammers I will have a weapons-fest.

In the mean time, I will max her skills in Swords and Bushido. A lot of work is still to be done that does not require a Sampire God Suit and Weapon.

  23. I think this is where imbuing will greatly improve the odds of getting a good weapon - but just a bit worried about getting too many great weapons in the game and starting the balancing cycle all over again.

There are a couple in this thread that look like good candidates for imbuing. You are making these with iron ingots to allow imbuing later, right? Also, with copper hammers it usually gives you 4 mods, leaving room for a 5th one to imbue without trying to remove one (if that works at all). Making a really great weapon is getting very frustrating.

The thing about imbuing is the item cannot be POF'd so the uber weapon will wear out.

True. So you just imbue another one lol. The thing with imbuing is it will allow folks to take ALL those weapons that "just missed" and turn them into something awesome. When it wears out, make another one out of another "near miss". I would assume if you fort it up before imbuing, it will still last a long time as long as you properly manage your repairs on the item.

  26. THIS is what you do, since imbuing won't destroy the item if you fail, just use resources. Almost any item starting at 255 endurance should last nearly a year if you repair only once it gets very low, but certainly before it is zero endurance.

THEN, like Aibal says, you make another one!
