Screwed by Character Transfer Bug & Pending Satisfactory Reply from UO TEAM

    Hi everyone, this is a note to update everyone on a transfer bug which happened on me - such that you could possibly avoid it, and, seek an official and satisfactory answer from UO Devs. You be my judge. You might call me a dumbass, but anyways... truth & reality will reveal itself in due course.

    Character Transfer Bug
    My character: procurement guy - was happily shopping in Atlantic, some legendary items bought from UOSS traders, some armor, artifacts, slither, transfer tokens, among other things such as saws, enhancement tools, worth about 2 to 3 billion in-game gold (which i bought with cash, yeah!). After concluding my trades, i went to luna 2f bedroom, launched of TRANSFER TOKEN (which i bought from vendor at stupid ATL price of 79M, so it's definitely legit).

    Being freshly returned to UO for about a month, i just didnt want to screw up my transfer, i.e. click the WRONG shard name. So i closed the transfer gump, and restarted the transfer process. I took immense care like 10min to ensure i locked on to FORMOSA, which happens to be my home shard. Pressed the OK or GO button, i cant remember. And trasnfer process began.

    Instead of being booted out of game, and wait out the due time needed for transfer. I remained ingame, with my character hidden, muted and unable to perform anything at all. Not even to page for a GM. Super right? I tried logging on to my home shard, and it says a transfer is in process. So i cant.

    Screwed i am, i paged for GMs in ATL, BAJA, and many other US shards. They have great customer service and really can raise customer expectations " your problem will be fixed in no time. We'll email you once the problem is fixed and keep you updated" Cool i got like 3 generic response emails. Thanks for reporting or thanks for your petition sort. No news.

    Finally i wrote to Messana. She's great! Effective. Immediate response within 24 hours. But still, it took engineers about 20 days to fix my problem, since it occurred.

    I was finally told NOT TO CANCEL CHARACTER TRANSFERS AND IMMEDIATELY ACTIVATE CHARACTER TRANSFER in order to avoid such problems. So guys, dont be a dumbass like me please. Do it swiftly and do it once. If you need to get out and redo transfer, wait for a while maybe....like a system reboot kind of wait.

    Here's comes bigger problems, once UO Devs fixed my problems, great! I can log in! my procurement guy is free to move around. But jack! I LOST EVERY THING. My bank is empty, my backpack empty, the packhorse i had with me loaded with my FRIEND"S STUFF which i bought on behalf, ALL GONE.

    I pose this QUESTION to every one, every player in UO who reads this.

    1. IF this happened to you, and you lost 2 BILLION gold worth of items, would you ask UO Devs for compensation? Is that fair?

    2. They took 20 days to unlock me. But this is a paid game. So should UO Devs credit me 20 days of game time?

    I'll keep everyone informed of their solution, if any soon, such that, if you in future meet this problems, you'd know if you screwed yourself, or UO screwed you.

    Super! Did i lose it? Or did your engineer lost it while fixing me up? I had no occupancy and had no control. You did!

    However, might i clarify this is not official reply or position from almighty MESSANA.

    just ranting: but definitely possible...Outsourcing of UO Team is perhaps a good idea.
    Hire Techs in other parts of the world - at US prices, you can have a hoard of GMs, EMs, Devs, Customer Service, whatever. These boys and girls will go the extra mile, 200% committed. Instead of, going on paid leave or Holiday (reason for slow fix of my problem), poor followup and all the problems happening to UO.
    Look at how well Japanese Shards are managed. By Japanese. Compare that with US shard service quality.
    No wonder there's more Asian Players than US players.
    In time of cost cutting, more profits which EA wants to maintain, c'mon guys, do your job. Else you might get axed!
    Again, i have to give thumbs up to MESSANA, she's great. But her engineer fixing my problem? It's obvious he or she just wanted a QUICK FIX and move on to COFFEE or another HOLIDAY. So this engineer only unlocked me, without even THINKING or CHECKING for other clues. Hey first thing i logged in was to notice i lost everything, including SECURED ITEMS IN MY BANK.

    DID YOU THINK I"D TRANSFER AN EMPTY CHARACTER from shard to shard - to say hello to people????

    But hey, lucky i got a good IRL job, so i can just buy another account, buy gold, and regear... I'll survive..

    I'm diehard UO customer. If this was LVMH, or Casino....they'd send their prettiest customer service lady to apologize and make it up to me. In vegas, they'd do it in kind.

    Threaten a lawsuit? Really? Yeah, that will help. Really though, read over that wonderful list of things you agreed to to play this game...you don't own anything in this game, at all, it's all EAs. Rest assured though, you are definitely not the first person to lose a lot of stuff due to a bug.

    Sorry to hear that a bug screwed you over, something may work out, but I really wouldn't hold your breath. It has always been an official policy that they never replace lost items. Just be happy your guy is still around.

    my guy in ATL is a noobie shopping char...thats why he's named procurement guy....LOL

    Yeah, sounds like by playing this game, i've subjected myself to being screwed. Yet screwed i am, i still wana play...****...this is cocaine...why didnt i choose vegas? they should have 2 customer service agents waiting to apologize to me in my hotel room...

    I did, i only email Messana now. Other channels are useless. ****, did we just reveal the secret and have her email being bombed by people every day?

    She hasnt replied yet, i know she must be busy. Or, thinking about what is right to do for me. Perhaps, at least credit me with 20 days of LOST GAME TIME at least...

    In reality, i dont really care, 2B gold, i can buy 2B a week.
    20 days game time? 5 bucks? less than a cup of coffee.

    But, justice is still justice. I'm not a willing couch potato or sand bag tagged with "feel free to punch" sign.

    Other players may not be willing to buy gold with cash. And 2 B take a pretty darn long time to grind, i duno. Is it?
    So what if they get screwed? 1 UO gamer down, forever. I'm sure so many has left this game in disgust.

    somewhere in your UO files there is a transfer list with all the items you had with you for that transfer - attach that list to any email you send to Mesanna..... and 20 days ago was right around the time of the token mess, wasn't it? maybe that has something to do with your troubles

    Its location should be something like this if you were using the Classic client: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Classic\translog.txt. I don't know where (or even if) the same file is located in the folder for the Enhanced client. The file grows with each transfer you do from the same computer. The info for the most recent transfer will be at the bottom. Go to the very end of the document and then use the Find option to search backwards for something like "Transfer ID" to get to the top of the info for the last transfer.

    I appreciate the time you took to help others here while dealing with the results of that situation :/. That's incredibly rough and I don't know if I would keep playing after something like that. That would be insane...and I don't know why they had to remove all your items unless there was a precedence or if the bug just deletes everything. Given the devs took 20 days to fix your issue, I would assume there wasn't a precedence.

    OK, I'd like to inform everyone that, Mesanna and her UO TEAM, has FULLY RESOLVED my issues, to my satisfaction.

    I'm convinced that under Messana's leadership, commitment to customer service and prompt handling of petition cases, UO is a better place. I'm surprised and pleased because in my entire UO experience, since high school days to until now, never have I encounter such a personalized treatment and detailed handling of my problems. Previous years when problems happened, I'm sure you know what the response was.

    Hence, in summary, put your trust in Mesanna. She ROCK.
