Velocity is a property found on certain bows that was introduced with the Mondain's Legacy expansion. It can be described as a reverse of the Harm spell. For every tile away your opponent is, +1 damage is added if a shot hits with Velocity. So if you opponent is 2 tiles away they can be hit with 2 extra damage from a Velocity strike.

This property can only be found on bows crafted with an Oak, Ash, Yew, or Heartwood Runic Fletcher's Tools. It can range from 2% to 50% in intensity.

I'm assuming that's modified by resists, and thus pretty negligible?

Physical resist is factored into velocity. So at 70 resist and maximum velocity damage, you're lookin at about an extra 5 pts damage woohoo!!!!

taken from uo.com item properties manual

Velocity - (Only available on runic-crafted missile weapons.) Adds a bonus to damage based on the distance between the archer and his target. The bonus damage is equal to the number of tiles between them, times three, with a max of 30. The damage is Physical.

By that, it seems to me that its a substantial increase in damage. I haven't had much experience with it myself so i cannot speak intelligently on the matter.

    its not bad at all.

Its an extra hit property and being that it was marketed as " harm for bows" its quite good.

Did someone just say "5 extra damage woohoo" sarcasticly?

Seriously? 5 extra damage on a magical shortbow, comp, or repeater would be awesome.

Yeah well Morder opens his mouth on alot on topics he knows nothing about. Tested it yesterday just to see the damage. I wore 70 physical resists and was shot many times from 8-10 tiles away (with a comp bow). The shooter had only 43 DI from the weapon and was hitting me for normal 7 point hits. When the velocity hit i was being hit for the original 7 plus on average 13 extra points. That's 20 point hits with barely any DI. Now imagine running someone down hitting them for 20 points every other shot. Also velocity doesn't lag you when it proc's...I'd say Velocity is probably the best hit spell for a ranged weapon
