Shame, the bigger mobs, what do you think of them?

First of all, i like the revamp, i even renewed my subscription based on that (and because i'm curious to see others dungeons), so i'm happy.

Anyway after a couple of days spent fighting eternal gazers, unbound vortices and crazed mages... well, as a tamer (tamer-mystic currently) i find those mobs great for the loot but very boring to fight.

A couple of other tamers and some sampire told me the same.

Imo an interesting fight is a short one - 5, 10 minutes max - where because of some random event i risk to die (for the risk take nehira the necromancer in ilshenar: most of the time i can deal with the added spawn but when a paragon lich lord pops out near me I have to watch my tail, play the magic hide-sleep-run-dance... you know, interesting stuff you do to keep yourself alive and kill the mob).

So i ask you: what do you think of the challenge these mobs individually pose and what is an interesting pvm fight for the char you play?

Well I haven't gotten down to the uber-monsters, but the ones I have been fighting on levels 1-3 are reasonably fun. I run a Bush/Chiv macer (not a Sampire though).

I tend to like to play the tank style of character, so I tend to really dislike the almost-insta-kill creatures, especially with 150 HP and 70 in all resists and still getting hit for half your life. Taking enough DPS so that I have to be handy with the bandages, Confidence, and Close Wounds id fun though, something that feels like you CAN handle it so long as you don't screw up this heal, as long as you can get that one off, etc.

Annoyances for me are magic users that instantly re-poison you when the bandage cures you, of course the debuffs and Necro casters (Blood Oath), but that's part of the challenge and I understand that, it just gets annoying with some of the spell casting timings.

Of course if you're overloading yourself in doing Shame or any single creature in PvM you're gonna get bored of it eventually... but that's the fun in UO... get bored, do something else for a while!

The level 3 boss was disappointingly easy. Took it down solo on my necro mage, took maybe 10 minutes. I really wanted it to be an epic mob but it seems to be just a souped-up air elemental that moves fast like Miasma.

Most of them are not bad..I have fought all on my sampire and the only ones I really have had issues with so far are the gazers...no slayer wep so hard to be able to leech enough life back. Once I got a friend down there with a dragon to tank it though...I tore that thing a new one! LOL! Other than that...the diseased blood eles on 5 seem to be the hardest hitting I have really seen other than that burning guy. He just has a nasty fireball occasionally.

I have also noticed that tamers are really slow at killing things in this dungeon. The resists of the new monsters keep the damage low on there pets and the insane amount of HP just makes it take forever.

The bosses are not really like a peerless boss or a champ boss its supposed to give you a taste of how hard the monsters are for the next level.
  7. very dull and boring fights. i mostly farm the named evil mage. '....' the Burning. great loot, but incredibly boring encounter.
  8. even worse, the bosses you summon are extremely easy and boring as well.
