I unlocked them from my wall but when I try to grab them i get "you cannot pick that up" Any ideas? I tried locking down again with the house owner and also the shield owner then unlocking and I can't take them down.

I had to move mine, and I believe you need to double click the Shield when it is not locked down. I will try right now and confirm...

Yup...the Shield Owner unlocks the item, and then double clicks the Shield to deed the item.

Release it from being locked down and then double click it. It will become a deed in your backpack again.

Here's what happened the owner of the shield was listed as a friend and co-owner somehow. So when I clicked on the shield it said only the owner of the house can do this. When I tried to remove the shield with the owner of the house I was told he's not old enough to use this. So once I had the shield owner listed only as co-owner I was able to remove. But this brings up a situation that if the house owner is not old enough to use this reward they also cannot remove it from their own home.

In that case you call a GM to redeed it. If that is you cant get the owner of the shield to log in and do so.

Just curious, but has anyone ever tried to slap a wall over these items using house customization? I know with some things you can do this and it will stick the item into the moving crate, because the item is in the way. Just wondered if it would do that for items that the house owner cannot use or redeed.

Would depend entirely upon whether your house is customizable and your customizable house design, of course. :)

Yup, I had a similar situation last week. Called a GM and in less than 5mins I had the item in my backpack neatly deeded. (response was amazingly fast).

Why these have to be used in a house is beyond me. THey should function in a bank box.

Who can have a house on all the shards they want to visit? Seems pretty stupid but then - welcome to UO.

    Agreed.

They would be extremely more functional if you could use them from a bank.

    Hi Theo;
I wouldn't swear to but I believe the reason the Scroll of Transcendance book has to be in a house is so people don't bring that little charmer out to where you GET the pinks..

Also to the guy about the shields .... you do NOT need a house on another shard to use the shields to transfer to one shard from another. The shields are account bound so only the account that got them can use them, and if he's not old enough to use them then how did he get them?? ( unless he used an older account to placed them )

I would love to see Recipe books though *sigh* .. if its not one thing its another :grouphug:

the shields are fine - just place 1 for the shard you want to go to and one for your shard, take both tokens, use one to get there and the other one to get back - problem solved

If you want to claim a Shard Shield on a server different from your home shard, you do indeed need a house in order to place the shield and claim the token.

At a minimum you need a friend, on that server, who trusts you enough to allow you to be a co-owner in their house long enough to place the shield and claim its token.

For example, a player plays Pacific shard but has some valuable stuff on Baja. You can't just claim a shard shield for Pacific on Baja unless you have a house there to use because without a house you can't place the shield and claim the token.

What you have to do is claim two veteran reward shard shields on Pacific, one for Pacific and one for Baja. Then, transfer a character to Baja from Pacific, taking with you the token to get back to Pacific, pick up the stuff you want to take back with you and then use the token to return to Pacific.

Now you have a Shard Shield to Baja, making another token every month, and yet you may never ever need nor desire to transfer to Baja again. Wasteful don't ya think because the tokens are account-bound?

Not if you only want to go to a shard once. Then you're stuck with a shield making tokens every month you don't want.

The only one-way option, that doesn't waste a veteran reward, is to pay for a Transfer Token from the UO Store.

    Just saying.

    Hi there Ezekiel Zane,

I agree with you in that sense that I don't claim shields for shards that I don't think that I will travel to many times.

But keep in mind that it's not fun to have more than one shield for home shard either. Most people claim the first shield for home shard but if you have already chars sitting with stuff on other shards you do not want to claim one more for home shard.

    Regards

Yeah if I was a heavy x-shard trader or a merchant, which I'm not, I'd have Shard Shields for the servers I frequent but I probably also would have at least 4 Shard Shields for my home shard so as to be able to take more trips each month.

I had a 4th Anniversary Shield in my keep, I could unlock put not remove it. When I would dbl clk it, it would say you must be the house owner or the character that placed it. After a few hours of trying all of my characters and and the interior deco tool to remove it. I paged a GM, He tried to remove it and couldnt either, his advice to me: Customize my house and it would place it into the moving chest, that is all good and fine but my home was a keep! Of course that was not an option, LOL!

So it is still stuck on the wall and the new home owner gets my shield in the sale of the keep!

Make circuits, don't just go point to point.

if you need multiple of one shard, and are moving thousands of items, you should probably be using packies and a real token, you probably won't be able to delete chars fast enough on your home shard. the cost of a real token and one big move, is probably worth it to avoid the aggravation.
