Shard Sizes

Looking for a shard with a decent population. I played uo when it first came out and then again I think a few years back. I was on Napa and it was pretty dead.

Now that I'm looking to come back I was hoping to find a shard with a decent population but not so large that everything I'd like to do has a line.

PS. Did UO make it against the rules to sell stuff on ebay? Don't see any accounts these days. Was looking hoping I could find a premade tamer just to save myself some time. Having at least one good stable character and a house I thought would make my transition back easier.

Actually, EBAY made it against the rules to sell virtual items (including accounts) on their service, since such transactions were against the terms of service for most MMOs, and they were having to deal with a lot of real (and bogus) claims of fraud concerning them.

So, they issued a blanket ban on all such sales, even for the games that allowed them.

Then, several of the other games (hint: Much larger than UO) made it an issue for fan sites to sell such things, so Stratics went to a no-real-money-transactions policy a few months ago, to keep those companies happy.

Suggestion - if you want to buy an existing account: start playing, make friends, and ask around in-game. Eventually, you'll find someone willing to sell you an older account (self/friend leaving, downsizing their account load, etc.). Just be sure that if you're going to be out the cash to buy someone's account, you're willing to also pay to have it go through the official transfer service with EA. There's been a rash lately of people seizing older accounts they'd sold years ago, using old account info, to the point that the process has gotten a bit dicey without the official service.
