Should I transform into a gargoyle? I have been sating that Patty would remain human, but I am impressed with the way gargoyles look. Plus, I have heard that umbueing is almost pointless with a human (true story?). I have been to test center and looked at the different colors (purple!). Flying is kind of neat. I didn't test anything else. I would miss my straw hat and kilt. Do you think I could craft a straw hat with holes in it for my horns? Would you recognize me without my trademark Straw Hat, purple kilt, and bare feet?

What should I know about being a gargoyle (aside from having to wear garg clothing/armor)?

You cannot ride your fire beetle or charger of fallen, and if you're a lumberjack, you can no longer use hatchets, you have to buy or make the double axes ( 24 ignots ). You can be flying while chopping wood, but you have to be on the ground to mine.

No JOAT will require some Focus to keep stamina while flying ( I have mine set to 30 and it is sufficient if I am not being attacked ).

The Gargoyle Skyway in Ter Mur is fun to play on for a while, if you haven't explored Ter Mur, that would be the best way to get around quickly. Just climb one of the towers that are scattered around the land and fly off the edge in a straight line, you can fly over water, mountains, trees, etc... wherever you see the sparkles... there are hidden flying paths that only gargoyles can access too.

There is very little different between garg, and human at 120 when using the queens soul forge. As stated, you will not have JOAT for stamina, you also lose strong back from human, and the ability to ride any mounts. But can fly. So its up to you. Id stick with human myself. Only real use for garg, is naked Gdrag tamers.

A gargoyle Patty that can't ride a blue beetle is just not right.

Okay, so that's one adamant "NO" from Skylark!! I may just play around with my Gargoyle char on TC for a little while before I make a decision.

Another race characteristic is that when you're in battle and low on life, you become easier to hit, but also you become more fierce on offense. Some would consider that a positive trait, but no serious PVP'er would, they'd rather get their HCI and DI from items, as I assume the race ability is still under the cap of 45%.

I know you're not a PvP'er, but if attacked while gathering resources, you stand less a chance of getting away... further, because you cant ride an ethy ( who dont use stamina ), it only takes a little poison or pain spike to reduce you to running speed while flying if you dont have very high dex, focus, or stam regen items.

The gargoyle only Artifacts would be nice if you were PvP though.

I, rather reluctantly, converted Dee when I realised I was going to have very little chance of getting relic fragments on Siege if I didn't.
I made her a suit with 17lrc, 1 MR and 2 SR on each piece. I find that with that I can fly around without running out of stamina. I miss being able to pack stuff into my beetle and hop onto it. The poor beetle has been reduced to being no better than a pack llama or horse :(

When imbuing high end items the 6% increase you get is worth it to me.

Trying to put that last mod on your usually around 15% so I just like to be over 20%!

Regarding Relic Frags, unless you have an endless supply of items (cursed arties/tots) it seems to me that you get alot more Frags as a Garg.

We did a Lady Mel 3000++ luck and received 6 Frags, as a Human at the Queens SF.

As a Garg we get 10/12.

the reason I switch is to just play the new content to the fullest.

There are some drawbacks but knowing that (and what they are) its ok.

    imbueing alone is worth it.

I have been getting relics off normal loot every once in a while which is great. I am sure as a human I would not have gotten those.

I like the flying around alot. it seems to be alot faster then riding as I seem to bounce around more riding (rubberbanding).

  13. Desdemona Lyre went from elf to gargoyle (nice deep purple color) and I have no regrets. She is a necro mage miner and being able to fly is very cool and quite useful since she makes a living as a resource gatherer with a vendor in Gilfane. Ter Mur has great supplies of riches and is interesting to travel through. I can't ride my fire beetle but so far tht has not been a problem and I use sending bags to ship hides and ingots to the bank.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I flew around Ter Mur and that was fun. I don't collect resources myself anymore. I pay NEWs to do it. :D Because of that, I really don't ride a beetle much anymore unless I am transporting supplies between houses. I don't see myself being able to use the Queen's Forge any time soon since it sounds like I would have to endure hours of monster bashing in order to do so. :wall: As far as PvP, well.... I don't really have to say anything about that!!

I still have to think about it. I have been a bare-footed human for many years (except around Shal. I put on sandals for her). I have come to love my straw hat and purple kilt. I am going to play around a little but longer on TC and make a final decision. THIS is the reason why I wanted a second char slot. :(

You can always sew up a gargy kilt in reward bod cloth purple.

Course every time I see a gargoyle chr. flying, hovering endlessly, with their wings flappin around me, all that crosses my mind, is when my parrots shout at me, that they just flew in from Delucia and boy are their wings, tired.

    :)

wings tired! :D thanks QueenZen, I'll hold that thought.

Actually, while I fly with my gargoyle from place to place, I can't abide hovering. If she's staying in one place, she lands.

I have been messing around with a gargoyle (purple!) on TC for a couple of days. Mostly just flying around and exploring. I haven't even tried to imbue anything yet. I left Ter Mur to go to my TC house in Makato and now it seems I can't get back!!:sad2:

I am going to keep playing TC for a little while longer before I decide. I keep going back and forth between yes and no.
