*Sigh* Why can't KR be like this?

  2. you're trying to compare 2 totally different games. I don't get why you people constantly try to do this.

First problem. Diablo is a smaller, instance based game with a storyline.

Second problem. You're trying to argue Diablo 3 versus Ultima Online 1. Not to say that there will be a second Ultima Online, you're trying to compare a game thats had 3 legacys vs a game thats only had one.

When you compare two totally different concept games, you have no arguement.

The perspective is the same and the genre is the same. The graphics/coding is so much tighter in Diablo.

I would argue that KR is UO2. It is a completely different client that tries to update UO to the current state and still lacks the playability of other games.

    KR was recently released.

    2D was UO 1st
    3D was UO 2nd
    KR was UO 3rd

I think this is a fairly fair comparison.

The game concept is not in question here. These games are not "in concept". Uo is here. DIII is in pre alpha. use google and look up "concept". Ugh.

Putting time and effort into it your could certainly make DIII engine handle a world as big as UO.

The genre may be the same but still it's comparing apples to oranges. Diablo III isn't meant to be played with hundreds of other people online (OK some shards tens). I did see that they are planning on using Battlenet for multi player, but still how many players will that handle at once? It seems like the majority of games designed not to be played exclusively online do have cutting edge graphics. Plus if they did the graphics and everything to look like that game, then how many people would get upset because they changed everthing to look like another game. At one point in time UO was a leader, now it seems we're stuck in the middle of the road trying to decide where we should go.

Because Diablo 3 and Ultima Online will both be the current version of their respective series at the same time.

You're comparing a game that has lots and lots of money with lots of graphics designers to a game that has "enough" money and "enough" artists.

Though personally I like KR's graphics just as much, if not more, than the Diablo III graphics. DIII's got the advantage in diversity of animations, definitely... but thats it.

Was there something wrong with the other "identical" thread about this same topic? The only difference is, you sent us to You Tube, the other went straight to Blizzard I think?

The only reason KR lags behind that is because of the 2D client, no other reason.

Diablo 3 - solo campaign game with some multiplayer
    UO - MMorpg
see the difference? People scream for better graphics and more pixelcrack but fail to realize that the prettier they try to make the game, the uglier the content gets. we could have a dazzling 3d uo but thered be a totally drop in events and in game content. Long Live 2d Uo!

Posts like this is what led to the terrible waste of resources that was KR. Just thinking of the amount of new content we could have gotten instead makes me upset. Maybe they could have implemented a system for players to build their own cities, improved the faction system, etc. But no, we have a client that is barely used by anyone instead. Woohoo.

Lets be honest...KR was a mistake.

It's very sad that the devs wasted all their time on it...

2d is fine...most people are used to it anyways.

Wow. I sure love d-1 and d-2 , but d-3 IOM looks like crap. It's hard to see the people and looks like a blurred mess. I'm glad UO doesn't look like it, and it's a shame that Blizzard is ruining such a cool game.

KR itself was not the mistake. Releasing KR before it was finished was. If the Devs work on it and fix the major issues, then KR will be more widely accepted.

As for comparing it to Diablo 3, I think the potential is there for it to look that good. It's just a question of whether or not Mythic gets some artists on staff to finish cleaning up the items and house art.

Was KR ever officially Released? it was a closed beta at first and is now an open beta i believe, so its not finished. It does need alot more love, but devs are kinda busy keeping the core game alive first.

It was officially released a long time ago. The release was a fairly quiet one, compared to most UO releases, but it's officially out of beta.

Its blurry because its You Tube and they limit the resolution you can post. It has nothing to do with the game.

    Here is more...

Witch Dr seems like a tamer. They can cast spells on the pet to infect it with the abilities of the Witch Dr. Interesting.

If you want better resolution ones - go to the blizzard site : http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/

At any rate - I understand its a different sort of game than a multi-player but the Interface and graphics could easily be 'skinned' on top of UO. Remember, your client is merely a 'view' of the action that is taking place at the server level that is communicated to you via text over the internet. The client can choose any way desired to display the content. The problem is the 2D and KR clients are both weak compared to other games and their front ends.
