Sigil thieving horror...

    Hi all.
    I just joined a faction again with my thief, and then began my sigil-thiever's job.
    And alas, when i did replace my first sigil in its town, i got no gain : no killpoint, no silver. It seems, things have changed : one must have placed a sigil for corruption in his stronghold, in order to gain gold when repositionning it in the right town ?
    So, with this system, sigils being all stollen, re-stollen and re-re-stollen, a thief NEVER knows if he will gain anything or not. I fear, i'll nevermore spend my time for that, untill it ischanged.
    Let's say it loud and clear : faction is a team job. When a corrupted sigil stays at stronghold, the first thief of the faction who see it must replace it in town. No matter of who placed the sigil in corruption process : that is team job... The real duty of the thief is to gain towns to his faction, no ? But if a thief who gains towns to his faction isn't rewarded, sigil thieving play is nearly dead !
    And on the other side, if a thief steals a sigil and puts it for corruption, he as either to be there when the sigil is corrupted and deal it properly, either not to cry if he isn't there at the right moment : other factionners must do the job in his place, for sure...
    Not right ?

    Simple, you get the sigals back to your base, look at the clock, workout when they will be ready to replace in the towns and turn up at the said time. If the Sigals are not ready, then they are not yours and some one else had to steel them back. Simple right?

    actually this is how it was SUPPOSE to be when they changed sigil times and up'd the points for corrupting them.
    it was a bug that allowed which ever poor slob who picked them up and returned them to town to get the points.
    so they are just fixing the stuff to the way it was suppose to be originally.

    but ill agree with you.
    nothing is funner then rolling in and seeing a room full of corrupted sigils and moving them all back to town and getting a easy 70 kill points and all that silver for doing nothing but being at the right place at the right time.

    Hahaha, not exactly that; tenth of times, i took sigils in a fiend base or in a fiend town, back to my base. Do you mean i'm not able to do the whole sequency ? When i was back, hours later, i putted them to their towns and didn't get any reward. They probably just were again stolen and replaced in base before i replaced them in town. That is stupid, and there is no way to know if the sigil was moved in time.
    Easy to take a corrupted sigil and replace it ? Sometimes yes, sometimes not. Sometimes you do that, sometimes another one of the faction does that. But at least, you know for sure if you'll get something, with what i defend. You never know what you'll gain, with what you defend. Perhaps, another way could be found ? A way in which you could know who has placed the sigil in the base...

    the whole point was to reward someone who takes the sigils then sits there with them for the 10 hours then runs them back to town.
    why would we want to reward someone who dosnt do anything but log in and check the sigils once a day?

    your complaining that your not being compensated for doing anything?

    the 10 points was put in when we asked the devs to show some love for faction thieves since we where dieing so much we could never have any rank. so they put in the 10 points per successful hold to help us thieves get points. The bug was allowing whichever poor fella stumbled upon the sigs and happen to be the one to place them back on the town stone.

    hell, i use to pass them to my mule and let him just place them on the town stones so he could get points.
    how does that reward the thief?
    it dosnt.

    so it was a bug that got fixed.

    Its simple YOU have to place the sigil on your bases monolith then YOU steal them take it to town and YOU get points and silver. the same thief both

    Never had a theif and prolly never will have a theif, but the problem is the who 10 hr of guarding. When I first started playing factions we had to hold the sigils for 24 hours. That was easy because I was in college, had no family, and worked as a manager at Burger King, just like the majority of the other faction players. Now those same faction players have a family, a "real" job, and only have time to play UO 2-3 hours per night max. Some only have 2-3 hours per week. So one of two things have to happen. Either they need to lower the 10 hours to 4 hours, or they need to expand their player base to get new "younger" players. It doesn't seem like UO will be getting any new younger players so that leaves lowering the 10 hours of hold time.

    Thieves should not have ever received 10 points for 1 corrupted sigil.

    You didn't get points because someone else probably stole them and then back again.

    Guarding 24 hours sucked but 4 hours was pointless when they gave that a try.

    I agree to what Faramir said : for now, a lot of us have a life beneath UO :D
    Sitting 10 hours at the base will nevermore occur for none, nowaday. The oldest player i know on Europa is 54 years old and he works; i'm 50, i work, and the daughter of my daughter is 3 years old. When i'll get a pension (in 15 years if things don't change), i'll perhaps sit 10 hours at the base (if UO and i still exist) (and sigils too, of course).
    And so, what would be wise for now, would be just to give us a little clue : mention on the sigil of who took it to the base. That would definitely resolve the problem, no ?
    Ah, forgive me, i forget : problem doesn't exist. And further, i don't exist; and worst, this forum doesn't exist, and what were we talking about ? Does UO really exist ? :p

    i think they should lower timer to 1 hour and lower the sigils points to 1 point per corrupted sigil but the towns reset timer 2 hours instead of 3 days this way there can be a couple sigils guards per day.

    oh i hear ya.
    when i started this game i could sit up all night and day and do a 24 hour sigil defence.
    now if i try to do that my kids come in and try to take my truck because they know i cant leave the computer!!!
    but if i can hold out for another...... 25 years, then i can do it while on my pension..... *sigh*
    and, on the good side, ill be wearing adult diapers then so that will save bathroom breaks.
    see, there is always a plus, you just need to look for it!
