    Heya kids,

i've just returned having been away for a while - not sure where this should go... so here we are. Looked everywhere can't find a answer...

I remember Skill Gain changed a few years back - or did it?

They took away 8x8 but how does it work now? Does the Guarenteed Skill Gain thingy work? Another point - if i am training taming or swords for example, should i turn off vet and say parry or tactics respectivly to focus my rate of gains to one skill, or will i just be getting less gains then and have to do it all over again?

...And what about suits - did they go with diminishing returns or caps etc etc? Not that i have any idea how to meet the caps without a smith or any shops to buy anything in drachs - a crafter!

Can you build houses in stygian abyss?

Are there no noob weapons about because everyone is hoarding them for imbuing?

    Why is drachenfells so lonely?

Cheers for any answers - first and foremost that about skill gain - i have a feeling whatever I'm doing, I'm doing it wrong!

    Garm.

Whatever skill you need to work. Just start working it. There is no longer any 8X8 setup.
If you were working a mage, you can chain weaken yourself up to 120 eval....while getting resist....while getting med.

For swords, go kill stuff. The ability to gain anatomy, swords, tactics, parry, bushido, healing?

In case you don't know already, you can go to New haven and buy skills there to 40 than take a quest to get accelerated gains to 50. You also get blessed rewards from these quest that are usually weapons/armor. Nothing too powerful but better than a drop from a low level mob usually.

Forget Drachs, come to siege. Gains are so much easier with ROT.

But join a guild. Siege is a lonely place without a guild.

    welcome back.

drachenfels is a low pop server so i would think without joining a guild you will have a hard time getting equipped there. many people xshard a made char to farm spawns there.

Europa is a more populated shard and will have a better merchant trade.

this game is totally item based now. the skill of imbuing allows you to tailor make very specific suit builds. the nice part about this is that you can farm the ingredients needed easy enough and any imbuer would be more than happy to put something together for you.

you can place housing in the new lands but you need to gain loyalty points first. Housing is limited there so you might be better off looking to place in one of the older areas. i would think finding a nice spot would be fairly simple on drachenfels.

read a lot of the boards to get a good understanding of how the game functions now. it is vastly different from when you left. Definately check out the crafter boards to get a better understanding of how armor is made with imbuing. a good suit makes a huge difference as to how much of the games content u can enjoy.

i would recommend whatever shard you wind up on to look at joining a guild. there are plenty of guilds that will help you get up and running and will be suited to your playstyle.

    good luck

    Awesome feedback thankyou!

Yeah i think ur righ tabout europa - I've got a mage there, i just find it hard to leave home. My Sammies belong to drachs... memories hold you tight right? Just the hope that an old face or GM may appear....

tis a shame about the items, but i think you're right...
so why does it still take time to level skills? why bother!

At least my Tamer, Bard and to some extent Sammies don't need such uber equip...
