Slayer Spell Books work for Mystic but not Necromancy?

Discussion in 'UHall' started by DarkScripture, Jul 1, 2010.

  1. Slayer Spell Books work for Mysticism but not Necromancy? This seems very wrong. Not only that but necro books can come in Slayer but do not double damage.

    Yep. Same goes for Spellweaving.

I suppose they had to tone down PvM mages, cause they're way too powerful.

Yeah, just another example of hidden game mechanics to exclude new people from our little game.

And along a similar thought pattern .. why won't the library collection mage take necro and mysticism spell books?

The necromancer takes the necromancy books.

As Stupid Miner touched upon, it's damage control. A slayer WOD could do over 1,400 damage.

Slayer Withers would be way too powerful as well, although, it would pretty much end tamer chokes and give rise to more mystics I would imagine. Not sure if that's good or bad, lol.

If they add slayer to either, they'd just have to limit some spells, hehe. I don't see how slayer poison strike would hurt the game. Slayer essence of wind would be fairly epic for PvM.

Wither wouldn't be bad, mages can't survive heavy melee anyway, so it's not like they'd be Withering a pack of dragons.
And it they were? so what? Any good swordsman can whirlwind a pack of dragons.

And... Earthquake and Hailstorm are both similar to Wither and Essence of Wind and they have slayers.

Word of Death is the only spell that'd need limiting.

I agree Spellweaving and Necromancy should work with slayer spellbooks as well as Magery and Mysticism do..... it's no different.

Either that or you should be able to craft spellbooks for Necro that have slayer properties.

But spellweaving should get a bonus just like magery.

EQ doesnt use slayer. Hailstorm doesn't hit over a screen-length like full circle essence of wind.

It wasn't a hidden mechanic. Slayer spellbooks work for every spell which is enhanced by Evaluating Intelligence. Mysticism is the first skill since Magery to work with Eval Int.

But essence of wind is a very slow spell, and it's weak anyway. And if the entire screen doesnt drop fast the mage is toast :)

  12. for necromancy, i can only see poison strike really using a slayer mod. pain spike isn't really 'damage' per se since it's considered a curse, and wither's damage isn't cut by how many targets are affected like chain lightning and meteor. it can be argued that only targeted spells should receive a slayer bonus.
for spellweaving, there's only word of death as a targeted spell. i wouldn't care if a slayer book worked, though there should be a damage cap for this particular spell against very high level bosses for some balance consistency.
