So with boats being able to be damaged...maybe...

    We could get to see damageable walls, aka. Siege combat. Putting in catapults and other siege weapons into UO.

    Then as walls are damaged, they end up becoming passable.

    Up until then, you have to use a ladder, but you are standing still for a while on the way up the ladder (to simulate you climbing), so the defenders can shoot you or pelt you with spells.

    This would be awesome.

    Same problem as the magincia event.
    You need damagable items which have to be loaded seperately and produce lag.

    Apparently they produced new items that can be damaged, aka. the ships. So with this code, they could create better damageable walls.

    Could open up for Siege warfare (no pun intended towards Siege players) and other neat stuff.

    Both PvP and PvM castles to besiege.

    The owner then have to pay gold and resources to repair their walls.

    They just added hp to items and let them be damagable, nothing mysterious about it.

    One certain disadvantage of such items is that circle of transpiracy does not work.

    I agree that the idea could be easily implement in destroyable dungeon doors or part of walls. As just a few of them would not create lag and if properly implemented could lead to more dynamic content.

    Siege warfare is a big part of other games, I'm sure it could be for UO as well, but it would probably require at least another "booster" pack dedicated solely to the content that would be required to make this a reality.

    For it to work there would have to be something worth sieging, both in size and in the rewards offered. Perhaps they could make the new faction bases large complexes that could be sieged? Perhaps instead of making them static constructions, make them dynamic with various buildings with various uses that can be constructed, and destroyed, including walls, gates, towers, etc.?

    Actually I think this idea deserves it's own thread, I'm going to find the factions forum, if there is one...

    Basically its one of the things Lineage 2 got correct. Its siege warfare.

    Basically your clan/alliance holds the castle for 2 weeks and then at set times (set according to timezone), other clans can sign up to either defend or attack the castle. The defender also has the ability to buy defending NPCs, traps and reinforce the castle. Basically its all about who can destroy the attacking players flags or take over the castle holders controller crystal.

    The castle holders get special things like the ability to set tax rates in their region, buy and sell special things and such. There's even larger castles which encompasses all the castles and regions in the area. These are very valuable to hold.

    If it could be given other benefits in UO, this could be a great idea. People on the same side would not be able to attack eachother and it would be possible to destroy both the walls and doors to the castle.

    This might even be doable in Trammel, where it would be a PvM siege and maybe give less benefits than Felucca held castle.

    Also, it would be possible to buy certain resources in packages during the siege, to keep the sides going. These might be restockable vendors that each side can stock up before hand to allow quick re-entry into the battle.

    Upon death you can resurrect at your flag or crystal, but there's a time penalty. Also, durability loss is lessened or removed entirely during the siege, this is necessary to keep the fighting properly intense.
