Seems to me that UO is doing everything they can to get players to join factions and guilds to the extent of ruining it for the individuals who prefer to fight solo. My schedule changes so much that guilds and factions are not practical for me and so I chose to attempt solo characters...The best of which seems to be the Sampire which is now getting nerfed...I guess if one doesnt want to play in a large group one should play elsewhere?

Well in a way you are right. As far as factions. Well the faction players have long been asking for some love. Now they are finally getting it. As far as sampire. Finally they are fixing it so you actually have to have the proper skill instead of getting around it by using jewels. Stop being lazy and work the skills up.

On another note though. I seriously think the dev team has orders to make stupid changes to the game to drive the subscription down low enough where they can discontinue Uo.

You can join a faction without joining a guild, shouldn't affect your ability to play solo if you decide to join factions or not. Sampire was a fix not a nerf

Joining a faction? Are you serious? The reason I have not joined a guild is that Im not on at the same times or consistantly throughout the week, meaning I don't see the same people often enough to gain trust etc. If I join a faction I am joining a group, putting my character out there to be killed by friend or foe, in hopes that my FACTION mates might feel they want to go do a Peerless hunt? I believe that would be down right idiotic... I understand wanting to increase role playing and group/Community activities. I only have a problem when they ruin play for those of us that play solo. "fixing" a bug that allowed us to use jewelry for a for then switch jewelry isn't a bug, it is/was clever way to add skills. It did not give someone a great advantage in PVP, its main attraction was to be able to solo difficult monsters. If you felt it was cheating, don't do it, but don't cry when someone else chooses to because it really doesn't effect you and those that are self-rightious like you. (by the way, if your so pure, dont use skill enhancing jewelry, that way you don't exceed the cap that was set for skills, or scrolls to go over gm, which was the original cap for individual skills, of scrolls of power so your stats don't exceed the normal cap...See where this is going?) Change is constant, but it would be nice to have some things developed, or at least left alone, for those of us that would like to play solo. How about a Boss/Champion that can only be soloed? Yall don't have to like my opinion but then again I don't like the "fix" so I guess we are even.:coco:

I'm a solo player too - I used to solo t-maps, until they boosted the dragons power. Now I can't solo t-maps. I'm not a tamer, I'm a pure mage, and I used to have a lot of fun doing level 6s. Now, i can only lure the ancient wyrms away from the chest. or die. a lot. The loot isn't enough for more than 1 player. Perhaps I need to switch to an uber template, or a tamer with uber pets. But the game shouldn't be only fun for those types of players.
ah well. Guess i stick to mid line monsters.

The problem is a double edged sword. If they make it so that all content in the game is soloable, then the groups would have less room to play, and some people find group play more satisfying than killing the top end monsters alone.

So the question I pose is this:
How can the game content be all soloable while still maintaining the possibility of playing in groups?
How can high end content be best handled by groups while not offending those who like to play solo?

A balance must be maintained. So the real question is, did they cross the line of balance between solo and group play?

Are you primarily a tram player? Even in factions everybody is blue to you in tram, they made a change so that a enemy faction players are just typical blues to you. Can't hurt you and can even help you. Unless they riding a faction mount you probably will not even know they are in factions unless you ask them.

There isn't a faction chat. The only person that can send a message is the leader of the faction and I believe that option can only be done once a day. So your not gonna get bothered by anybody even in your own faction.

In fel, it is a bit of a different story. In fel you will have to keep a eye out for enemies cause if they kill you then you go into stat loss. Either way it is just a new options to promote factions. Heck I played factions for a long time solo and enjoyed it before finding a good "guild" to join.

Sucks they made a fix that caused your favorite charicter to play become less powerfull. You can still build up to gm necro. If you been playing uo for awhile you'll get used to this. Will take them ages to make some fixes... typically if they fix one bug they cause another. They nerf one skill they just cause another skill to become more powerfull and the cycle starts all over again.

my last note is... this is a mmorpg.
